  1. Could it be guys? I just got the text from SMS. It feels too soon. Can they have done it already? someone please tell me I'm not dreaming and they won't ask me for anything else. I sent everything they asked for and also emailed my offer letter and ticket to america ticket to Nigeria next weekend.

Can it be? I expressly paid the £30 to get back before 8 cos' I just couldn't breathe. lol!

    Can it be? yaaaaaaayyyyy!!!!

He did say they would get me out before the end of June.

  2. oooooooooooh that makes sense. lol sorry to bring the 419 thing into it, got lots of nigerian friends, its my little joke with them, please dont be offended. well i hope you get it soon, it truly is a waiting game. I just got off the extortion line to the usembassy, at least i found out there that i wasnt in AP but he didnt really know anything to tell me. I was going to ask for an email code to let the embassy know i have booked a flight for the 6th of july, however he said ( the git lol) that we cant email them with that kind of thing. personally I dont see why not, I have read a few posts on Vj that say if you can let them know. they do "try" to accomodate you. I may just have to do it another way.

next week, i'm going big guns, getting my boo to ring the senator!!! lol extreme huh.....its not like its been long but hey its worth a wangle.

Marm whats that freephone number for sms couriers again, i just switched phones so i lost it??

    and the waiting continues.....................................................

Oh - Gosh! I wasn't offended at all. I'm hoping it's not just an automatic - 'Nigerian passport = additional checks'. lol! That would suck.

Has anyone gotten any news/text today?

Pull every string you can cos' the wait is not fun. Although, when did yours go in? There's still hope for this week - no?

I think so - positive thinking...

  3. i took some time thought about it, its not worth me ringing to sort anything out, new things, new slate, new possibilities; and to be honest its just sour grapes from my manager, lol,

its what happens when you are in this process, and I have a question. maybe Marm could help.

Where is the tracking number on the invoice sheet that they give you? ( couriers) because i put it in on the website with the postcode and it says it doesnt match??? someone fill me in.

The tracking # has 10 digits....when you log on to www.thedx.co.uk, enter the tracking # and be sure to include your correct post code in the area where it asks for it as well. Also, it depends on which tracking # you are entering in the system. My fiance received two tracking #s, one is for the passport going-to the embassy and the other # is for the passport coming-from the embassy to him, so maybe you are tracking the coming-from the embassy #, which is why you are getting an error message or a "not in the system/ does not match" message. Let me know if it works...

I was told that the invoice number is the ID number but it doesn't work until SMS have received your passport back. Can anyone say if this is correct?

Primahen, oh! no - I am already married. what I think may work in my favour is the fact that I've been to the states over 10 times in the last 2 years and so I can't just be trying to "get in" cos' I've never over-stayed, have found a job there and have always been studying or employed here so I can't be a 419'er lol!. At the interview, he didn't ask me anything different to most brits. I.e. how many times have u been to the states, what do you do? what will you do there? when are you intending to leave? how did you meet? etc.

Ok - positive thinking. I have to ask my Job to move my flight cos' it was initially booked for this Friday but I don't think I'll get it in time. Probably next Monday/Tuesday.

Oh! boy - another day of waiting but I've given up on panicking and fretting. It's out of my hands.

  4. Don't worry, the photocopy of the co-sponsor's birth's certificate is sufficient

And I don't like to say it myself, but it may take a tad bit longer because you are not a British native (not by birth a British citizen), but then again, it wont take longer at all because someone (not Nigerian, but a South African native British citizen) just went through London for a K-1 without any Admin Processing whatsoever. But be assured that London is faster compared to most other consulates when it comes to these types of processes, and be comforted in the fact that you will reach your goal, and you have gone through the most trying and difficult part, don't worry

Thank you - u have consoled me. At the interview, they didn't raise any eyebrows about anything. I have a job waiting and he seemed understanding but I'm quite "hmmmm"ed about these things. They sometimes tell you what you want to hear.

I've tried to call (waste of time and money) I've sent an email and husband sent one too but we have only got automated responses.

    We'll see.

Marm, your due to get the sms text any minute now. Surely.

  5. Dear all,

After a long, tangled and twisted road, I finally had my interview on the 11th unfortunately, I had been misinformed on 2 matters.

Firstly, it turns out that even though u r ask to list assets on AOS it actually doesn't count and it doesn't matter wether the NVC pass you or not. My husband went back to study for a Masters in 08 and didn't want to accept financial aid so is not as high on liquidity but has assets. This was not acceptable at my interview.

Secondly, even though I have lived in London for nearly 10 years and since I was 16, I was still required to get a police cert from Nigeria, which was fine. The lady told me it was alright to post certified prints to a relative in Nigeria and I did that. However, it turns out the embassy only accept prints certified by New Scotland Yard.

So they asked me to go and get another i864 and my correct PC. He also told me that they are currently experiencing a 3 day turnaround and that someone in my exact situation has done the whole thing in 2 weeks. He told me he thinks they can still get me out of the country by the end of the month which was the condition of me starting a new job I got. I set out to aim for that and got my file and passports back to the embassy this Monday or delivered on Tuesday - today. (BTW how can SMS still be in business, I paid for the before 8 service and they are telling me the delivered from London to London on the day after)

Does anyone know when I can expect it back? Oh please has anyone had a similar experience? I am so tired of being apart from hubby and want to start my life. Also, don't want to lose the job and need to be in Nigeria on 4th of July and my flight is booked to leave from D.C.

Do u think it takes longer cos' I'm Nigerian? My interviewer did say it would be quick but so nervous. I also just had a thought - is a photocopy of the co-sponsor's birth certificate sufficient? I hope so. There wasn't enough time to get a real one.

  6. Finally, received a text at 4:10pm from SMS saying my passport is on it's way back!

Time line of sending additional documents

1st June - Interview, approved pending Birth Certificate of Co-Sponsor

5th June - Sent additional documents via SMS

10th June - Embassy acknowledges it has received the additional documents

15th June - Embassy prints Visa and received text from SMS saying it will be delivered on 16th June.

Total processing time (excluding delivery time) approx = 3 working days.

Yaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!...time to book the flight!

    Congratulations!!!

I can't wait to be in the same shoes. But quick question though, did u need to send an original or certified copy of your co-sponsor's birth certificate? I've sent just a regular photo-copy. My interviewer didn't say anything about it needing to be certified. Oh! my - can I have done something wrong again? I hope not.

When I got to the embassy, we hadn't signed the bottom of the financial support papers so I was given a blue form too. My husband signed the forms and fedexed them to me, I got the papers and my passport picked up and returned back to me, complete with my visa in 6 days.

    Congratulations!!! that's great news!

  7. There is a thread in the UK forum about this.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=197086

Provided that no additional processing is required and you are simply submitting missing documents with no red flags (Police Cert with no trace will be faster than police cert with convictions may take additional processing), it's entirely possible that you'll fit in the 2 week window.

    Hope things work out.

thank you so much - reading it has given me some peace of mind. Although, I'm currently not spotting and CR1 so can't guess our timeline.

    Thank you again.

    Dear all,

Pages like this give me hope. Congrats to all who have gotten their passports back. I really can't think how it must feel. I hope it is soon.

I know this is a page for happy posts but here goes - after a long and twisted road, I finally had my interview on the 11th unfortunately, I had been misinformed on 2 matters.

  10. what difficulties with send the DS-3023?

So should I send it immediately I have the number or wait for something else? and what?

I get the sense from emails that I have to wait for a DS3023 to be generated but I don't know what that means or what the sign or this generated document is...

    HELP!!!

Congrats again Eagle, it is really exciting

I can't help you will all your questions but here's what I can' help you with. It took us 3 days to get our case number. We e-mailed the DS-3203 right away. We had some difficulties but it took about 4 days from e-mailing the choice of agent to acceptance. And no, we had NO luck with the INN. They hold firm. But it makes sense, she told me that if things aren't done in order, you could get a false RFE which can add weeks to your process.

    Good luck through NVC

How will I know it has been generated? this is not clear on the info shared...

3-4 days for the case number to be generated and another 3-4 days for DS3032....did you read ling's shortcut guide...it has all the info
  11. I'm a little bit more composed today.

This is all too exciting. Although nothing has happened with the NVC Case Number yet.

    I'll keep calling.

Hang on though - so it is not immediately I get my case number that I email my DS-3023? I have to speak to an operator to let me know that my DS-3023 has been generated? right? That part isn't really clear in all the documents.

My dad has me my original birth certificate and a new one just in case. I am going to make certified copies and send them to my hubby along with all the other documents. I got my police certificate on Monday, he has our marriage certificate and my bio page so I will fill out the IV form and sign part 1 and sent as well. Once I get my mail from my Dad - who just doesn't understand urgency. lol!

Can't wait.. woohoo! In fact I will fill the form now.

How long does it typically take to get your NVC Case number and then for the DS3023 to get generated?

Has anyone had any luck squeezing their INN out of the operator?

How long does that take to come in the mail?

Oh! my - this is all too exciting. Can you tell it is morning here? lol!

  12. Congrats Eagle. FINALLY!

    Thanks all.

Canadian wife, I really had lost hope. I sttopped checking everything cos' I was so deflated. I had no touched until 23rd of Feb or so and just thought it really was the most pointless exercise expending the energy and emotion and then I came home from a long and painful meeting yesterday night, checked my email and there it was.

Oh my, it's all so confusing or may be I'm too excited.

After the NVC generates the case number, do I email my DS - 3032? Or am I supposed to be waiting for something else?

  13. New member here -

We married in NYC on Dec 4 2008

She returned to Brazil on Dec 22 2008

    I filed I130 on Jan 22 2009

I recieved Notice of Action 1 on Feb 10 2009

    questions

    1. Does anyone happen to know if it is advisable/possible for my spouse to visit me on her tourist visa while our I130 is in process? Ive heard conflicting opinions about this and I am feeling rather confused.

    2. Does anyone have experience with filing I130s from NYC with the spouse in Brazil? If so, how long should we expect this to take?

    3. Once her interview is scheduled and visa is approved, will she be able to work upon arrival in the US or do we have to consequently file a work permission?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Jake

I don't know if it is advisable but I was told by a lady at USCIS that it was ok and I have gone 3 times to visit my hubby since we put in the application and I got my NOA2 YESTERDA.

I would also like to know the answer to your question 3.

Good luck with it all.
