When my wife and I signed an affidavit of support during the immigration process. Then about two years later, she was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and is unable to work. Is she able to get disability or some type of government funded insurance or access to a free clinic since we signed the affidavit of support? I am unable to add her to my insurance at work because it is too expensive. Is there any type of help? Thank you for your time and God Bless!

Agree with ceadsearc. A re-entry permit is only required if she's going to be gone longer than a year (and less than 2 years). Bear in mind if she's out more than 6 months her naturalization clock pauses, and after 12 months it resets (if you're able to go that way).
Thank you, all, for the help. God Bless!

She can travel without issue since she already has her green card, no stamp is needed.
So she does not have to get a re-entry permit? Some neighbor had been trying to tell her she did and I was just trying to find out. Thank you for your first response and God Bless!

My wifes grandmother is about to pass away. My wife is on a 2 year conditional green card that expires in July of 2012. Can my wife travel to Japan freely with just the green card and her Japanese passport or does she need to apply for a special stamp or file some type of form? She would only be gone for a couple of weeks. Thank you for your time and God Bless!

I am getting nervous about it. So I would like to know what kind of questions will they ask and the most impt docs they'll ask.
Everyone's experience will be different, but here is what we were asked:
1. Questions in regards to her criminal history; has she ever been arrested or in trouble with the law
2. Where did we meet
3. How long were we together before we decided to get married
In all honesty, our interview was more like talking to an old friend. They guy was very nice and friendly. Try not to stress out. Take the documents that your interview notice asks for and be honest to any question that is asked. As long as your marriage is genuine and loved based, you will do fine.

When my wife and I went for our marriage based AOS interview, the IO never even looked at anything. He just asked us some basic relationship question. Take as much evidence as possible and be able to explain why you may not have something. We did not have an SSN for my wife and we were approved. When we went to get her SSN, the guy said that he could not find her info in the DHS database. He made copies of our paperwork and said we should get a response in 30 days. We heard back 2 months later and he said he everything checked out, but that we could not get an SSn for my wife because her I-94 was too close to expiring. Try not to worry. As long as your relationship is based on love and IS genuine, then you have nothing to worry about. Good luck and God Bless!

I will add my timeline tomorrow after I get home from work. I just wanted to add my experience with the AOS marriage based interview. Our appointment was at 1:00 p.m. but we arrived at 12. After checking in with security, we were seated in the lobby. About 12:40, they called my wife's name and we went in for our interview. Our IO swore use in and asked us general questions like, "where we met," questions about my wife background (was curious where she picked up English since she speaks it fluently without much of an accent), and basic relationship question. The IO then took her I-94 out of the passport and placed a stamp in there. The IO explained that she would receive her GC in the mail within 5 weeks and about removing the temporary status 90 days from its expiration. Walking out of the building knowing we were approved was such a great and emotional feeling; THANK YOU JESUS! We could not have done this without Him and the help we found on VJ. This is such a great website! I wish you all the best of luck and offer my prayers for those who still have their interview to go. As long as your marriage is based on love and you have the documentation that they require, there is nothing to worry about. The IO was wonderful and talked to us more as a friend instead of an interviewer. Have a great week and may God continually bless you and your family always and forever!

I also forgot to file the I-765 for her work visa with the AOS package. Can I still do that without a charge? If I can, how would I do it?

I have the following problems:
1. My wife came into the US back in January. We got married and a week later we went to get her SSN. The guy there said he could not find her info in the computer and would have to make copies of all her paperwork and send it off. A few days ago he finally called us back to say that everything checked out but he could not issue a ssn because the I-94 is almost expired. We have already filed for AOS and have received a biometrics appointment. How can I get her an SSN? Do I need to apply for a work visa which I don't have the money to file for? What are my options?
2. On the biometrics appointment paper, my wife's first name is misspelled. It was also misspelled on the notice that stated our paperwork was accepted. I called and had it changed for the first notice. Do I need to call again and tell them of the mistake on the appointment sheet?
Thank you for your time and help. Take care and God Bless!

I just received the I-797C and they misspelled my wife's name on the paper (They used an "O" instead of a "C" in her first name). The paper said in bold letters to notify them if any of the above information is incorrect. Is there a place online that I can change this or does it have to be by letter, or where do I go? Thank you for your time. Take care and God Bless!

I am having to send my package to the Vermon Service Center since I am from Texas. Would I just use that address? I want to be 100% on this.
I'm not sue where you bought the m.o. but usually the address they want on it is yuor own. At least that's what I usually do.
I got the money order from the post office. There is a sections for my name and address. There is also a section for who it is payable to. It said to make the money order payable to the United States Department of Homeland Security. What address do I use for them? I was thinking that it was the same as the Vermont service center that I am sending my package to since I am from Texas. Is this the address I need to put on my money order:
United States Department of Homeland Security
75 Lower Welden Street
St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

I have the money order the I-129F. I saw that it says to make it payable to the United States Department of Homeland Security. On the money order, it asks for an address. What address do I put on the money order? I checked the instructions for the form, but it did not list an address to use. Is it o.k. to send the money order in without putting an address? What address do I use if I have to put one? Thank you for any help that you can provide. Take care, keep everyone in your prayers, and may God continually Bless you and your family forever!

How are you all doing today? Great I hope. I am doing great; continually Blessed in the Lord forever! I am beginning the process for the K-1 Visa and I have a few questions. I keep getting conflicting reports from people, so I was hoping that someone here could help me and my fiancee.
I am currently living in Japan and I will be leaving to move back to the U.S. in a few months. My fiancee will still be living in Japan. My first question is (1) Where do I send the paperwork to? One person told me to an office in Texas (I will be living in Austin, Texas) and someone else told me that it was the office in Virginia. My second question is (2) can my fiancee fly to Germany to visit her parents while we are applying for the K-1 Visa? From what I understand, she cannot leave the U.S. once she enters the country on the K-1 Visa, but I am unsure as to if she can travel to Germany while the paperwork for the K-1 is being processed.
Thank you for any help that you may be able to provide. Take care, keep everyone in your prayers, and may God continually Bless you and your family forever!
