  1. Question is.... Does she need to start this shot or have it completed by the time she does the Medical Exam? Or can she do it in the States? I'm in the military and I'm pretty sure they will cover this one at no charge.

    $500 EU..wow!

I'm pretty certain (not 100% though) it can be completed in the US.

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...tml#Vaccination

WOW! I can't wait until WE have free heathcare!

Yes, immunizations can be completed in the US. She does not need the HPV unless she is under age 27...in case that matters to you.

I have "free" (Aka tax paid) healthcare and I still have to pay 130 dollars a shot for HPV.

So, my healthcare doesn't seem so "free" anymore.

    nice

Government run anything has always failed.

We were wondering about the shots too... The Medic that does the examination for the embassy said that what she does not have they can give her then or just start it for her and then finish it in USA.

  2. Hello there!

Congratulations on your NOA2! There isn't a fixed time schedule for the processing. However, from what I have seen, VSC filers will get their file at the NVC in a few days. I would plan on 4 working days. After that you can call them directly and they are very nice, everytime I called they have been most helpful. When you call they can tell you if they have your file or not, if they do not have a record on you yet, it just means that your file did not get there yet. Now, generally they mail the file in a matter of days, but some cases are chosen for AP, which can take a while, weeks. Just check with them every 3 to 4 days.

As you see in my timeline my case got there pretty quick.

From the NVC to the embassy it takes about 4 days. From there, it totally depends on the embassy how busy they are, and how quickly they get your interview. I know that Philipines and London take a month or so..., Romania and Poland are about two weeks.

    Best of luck!

  3. Could you imagine waiting that long for a medical procedure? OMG, NO...half the people waiting would probably pass away just waiting. God forbid!

If I could just have one year in that place, as a top gun of course...I would just turn it upside down....starting with the oldest files. Team work, one group work on the old files, one group on the new files. You have a goal to reach every day. If you don't reach that goal, you better have alot of complicated cases. You can have overtime if you reach your daily goals. Person with the most cases cleared gets a bonus. If your cases come back because you're messy and did things quickly to get the bonus , I take the bonus out of your paycheck...lol.

Hey, You got my vote!!! I wish you were the USCIS director! I love the way you think!

  4. It just amazes me that it's a government agency and they did nothing to resolve the situation. If it was in another field (lets just say banking since that's my field), we would of jump through hoops surrounded by fire to resolve the situation after the FIRST error, and I'm willing to help anyone, especially if it was our mistake! It really is a shame that there wasn't just 1 person there with the compassion to help. It would be ideal to only hire people who have been through the same, then you would see how fast things would get done, and how carefully the files are handled! Ok, off my soap box.

Chris I'm sorry you had to go through all that, my heart goes out to you..and I agree that you should be the first one approved! Stay strong, keep the faith...your time is coming!

Hey man, this is a perfect example how a government run anything works for the people. Social Security, Medicare, Post office... and now hopefully they will not do this to our healthcare. Can you imagine having to wait as long as we wait for the K-1 just to get some medical procedure done???

I wish you were running this program just like you say you work with the people at the bank, or some business, because they will really take care of their clients because they must... it is their survival. They must do a good job to keep getting money! Ok, off my soapbox now :hehe:

  5. Whoever wrote that a religious ceremony will not be acceptable to the USCIS is just plain wrong. The officiating clergy person must be licensed in that locality to perform weddings, that is the only requirement -- if not, then no marriage certificate will be available.

You don't have to get married before a judge but you still have to go to the courthouse, or city hall and apply for a license. The officiant can then sign it and you are married. Doing a ceremony without the marriage license is no good!

  6. Anyone else struggle with the decision to make another trip this year, or to save up days off for when the visa is approved?

For me, iI don't want to choose a 6 or 7 month gap without seeing my fiancee, but on the other hand I want plenty of time to make the move with her and to help her settle in, show her around the USA, etc. I am thinking about asking for a few weeks of unpaid leave next year, but I am sure that will go over like a lead balloon (ton of bricks, or insert your favorite cliche hear)!

I am trying to decide on the issue as well... I have two weeks of vacation and I am trying to save them. One, I want to go there be with her at the interview and bring her here myself, and the other for the wedding and honeymoon. However I am starting to miss her too much and if they do not approve us by mid September I might just take my vacantion and go! These past months it has been the longest we have been apart since we met two years ago. I used to go every month. A hard decision to make because I know I will need the vacation later.

Best of luck to you guys!!!

  7. It totally depends on you. You must apply to the service center where you live and then do the change of address.

However, I think that the change of address could pose problems and delays when you switch centers. I can tell you from my own experience on a case that supposed to take 5 months, the N400, it took about a year for me simply because they misplaced my file in the transfer and sent it to storage when I did my address change. It took 7 months to get back on track.

If it was me I would wait with the center I filed originally. Just my 2c...

    Best of luck!

  8. question......ive filled out the DS230(ds-0230 now) and im trying to help him over skype fill it out since this has to be faxed right away to get interview date....and you cant save it to your computer so i have to print it, scan it, send it to him, have him fill out a page online, then he prints it , without closing the form, scans it, sends it to me, i look at it to make sure its correct, then he prints it and puts it away until needed,,,,,,,,BUT this is so CRAZY!!! its hard to do with the time difference and on the computer,,,,does anyone know a way that you can open the DS230 and other forms needed for packet 3, that it can be saved on the computer and also emailed so that he just has to print it out???

Hey there! Try "TeamViewer". It is a program that you both have to install on your computers and you can connect with each other. Then you can see what he sees on his computer. I use it all the time and I love it. It is free too! Best of luck!!!

  9. Hi. I finaly registered in the forum after months of a loyal reader here.,

I filed my 129 F on Vermont Service Center april 14th. I received an email today (july 30)that my case has been approved.

    Good luck everyone

I really hope you are K-1, this is awesome news if you are! Congrats!

I was in a teleconference with CIS Ombudsman yesterday and they said they are looking into the Vermont processing times. Don't know if it means anything but... it's a gleam of hope.

  10. Mike, that happened to me when I first filed. For a month or so, my number went up instead of down. I think it's just as you say: people who didn't know about the site find it & fill in their timelines a bit after filing.

Ovi, you two may be looking at diff versions of Igor's List. There's the old version & the newer one. I used to have both links in my signature, but ever since NOA2 I got rid of them.

    Found the links:

Older version (still updated, but the numbers differ): http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/vsc.aspx

New version (linked to from this site): http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthl...=2&sortby=2

thanks for the reply. I see it now... I wonder what the difference is and how they weed out the apps.

  11. In the past week or so I have moved from being something like 273 to being 275, and today I'm 277. How is this even possible? Is it just that people who filed months ago are just now filling out their timelines? Are people being moved from the "three months beyond" list to the "within service time" list? Does this normally happen?

How are you 277? my NOA1 is 4/14 and I am 308? Is there a way to sort out some apps that are not supposed to be there? I see you being 364? Let me know...

And yes we are moving back because Vermont is not approving anyone and people are just now finding this website and entering their timelines. Igor's list is just a percentage of the people actually applying. There are people that have applied for K-1 and never been to this website.

  12. Yes, having just arrived back from giving a presentation in Washington DC on Wednesday I was laid off this morning at 830AM :bonk: Now its time to develop Plan B and C for the I-134. I have a couple months before her interview to find a job but really in this economy that will be unlikely, at least if I dont want a severe pay cut but thats an option as well. Heck, now a lot of things are options I may not have considered before.

Next week I file for unemployment, send back the laptop etc and tally up the assets and severance to see what I can pull together for I-134 along with my tax transcripts for the last 3 years. Oh well, not giving up on the K1 process just because of this bump in the road :P

In any case, I know there are other here in the forum going through the same and we just have to hang in there and stay positive.

Hey there, sorry to hear the bad news. Hope you find a great job soon. Best of luck!

  13. Hello everyone!

My question is this, I have moved from North Carolina to California for a job with DoD, I haven't notified USCIS of this yet, will my petition be transfered to the correct service center when i notify them of the address change?

I moved when I was doing my citizenship, and all I had to do is my oath ceremony, 30 min. I was stupid enough to do an address change, they told me the ceremony has to be at the center in which I am currently living in and ... in the process of moving the file they actually sent it to storage and it took 7 months of calling, writing, complaining, involiving senators to get them to take the file from storage and schedule me for the short ceremony. As becoming a citizen is a priviledge, not a right I did not have much leverage. K-1's are a citizen's right to marry anyone they want, I don't think that will make much difference, but I hope you don't have to change centers because it is so easy for something to go wrong.

    Just my 2c.

  14. Well, guys, aparently my tread has made many of you upset and I am sorry for that, but I see that many people here have understood what I was trying to convey. Not the fact that I am not willing to wait, or I am complaining that I only waited 3 months so far, I was trying to see if we could do something to improve this terrible process. I mean in a time that the President is looking to create jobs why not bug him about creating more jobs at USCIS. Why not try to do something even if we fail, at least I gave it my best shot. Nothing will happen if no one speaks up, but if there are one hundred letters on the senator's desk it might get him to read one, if there are one thousand even better.

I wanted to say that those that want to make a change at least try... our country was founded from ideals and people that just tried even when it seemed impossible. I know that everything I write will be criticised and mocked but I will still try doing something. Like I said, if no one complains USCIS might think they are doing a good job. Nothing against the workers, they are probably working like crazy and wishing the same thing we are: more help, better technology to process these cases, less paperwork, less running around, even maybe contract out part of the work.

Many of you said, just line up and wait. The truth is that it does not have to be that way. What if everyone that contributed to making this country so great said that? Where will we be now?

All I am trying to say with this tread is help me out to get some attention in this department. You don't have to do anything if you don't want to, but I believe that even one person can make a difference. Call me idiotic but I truly believe that we don't have to take this and it can change. Look at CSC right now, they are approving K-1's at 62 days while a year back it took almost 6 months or better. Something happened there and I doubt that people just stopped applying. I could write a whole book on this issue but the whole summation remains in our hands. Will we do something about this because it can be changed.

There have been so many great suggestions made in this tread and I will do every one of them, especially writing to the Senator from Vermont. Thank you to everyone that has helped in this tread.
