  1. Hi

I went to the US consulate - Beirut website and one of the things needed for the interview is a Family extract, with English translation.

I cannot find any information about Family extract...does anyone know what it is ?

  2. thanks for the time everyone. I did say that really. I had posted last nigt on another topic, one potential cosponsor is someone i know through a group from my old city and not personally. He asked if he could put a note. a disclaimer type thing that says i do not know them personally, I am just willing to cosponsor him but i dont know anything about their intentions. i told him he could write what he wants because its only about the federal aid. someone else said I am scared but couldnt voice why. its really frustrating because I would do it in a second for anyone of them, if I could.

I have jumped through all kinds of hoops about this, to the point of giving references for myself.

When I travelled overseas, many times, i never had a visa prior to leaving the usa. I would get to POE for every country and pay a few bucks, and thats it. The process here is soooooo elaborate. Its amazing anyone can come.

  3. I was asked 3 times today but people whom i approached about being a co-sponsor for Hani. Every one of them asked basically the same thing. "I am not saying he is but what if....he is a person of interest or a terrorist...will I be in trouble if I am the Co-sponsor?"

I do not know how to answer that. First of all Hani is not a terrorist. I do not know what to say! I repeat over and over that the I134 is for preventing immigrants from taking means tested benefits from the governement. I cant even find a link that mentions these what ifs. I understand the concern..no one wants to get in trouble. but I am so tired that I cant think straight enough to relax their minds.

Please, any advice on this? My head is pounding now and I need to have an answer from one of them, within the next few days.

    thank you

  4. Hi,

I have found someone who may be willing to co-sponsor my hani. He asked me to show him where the I-134 states if for 90 days or 4 months. I cant find it now.

and he also asked if it would be ok to send a note with the form that states he does not know us closely but is willing to cover hani if he uses any means based things. He is concerned with the idea what if my Hani becomes a person of interest, will he be dragged into it.

    THanks

    Crazy tonight

  5. The I-129F fee is $455. Medical varies from country to country. Visa fee(paid at time of interview or before depending on country), is $131 currently but will be changed to $350 in a short amount of time. AOS(Adjustment of Status) fee paid after the marriage is $1010.

You're lookin at around $1596, not including the medical(I don't know what it is for your country), and without the fee increase. With fee increase it will be $1815ish.

Of course this is not including travel fees, postage fees, etc.

Thank you everyone for explaining that. I did not even KNOW about the visa application cost. Does anyone know when it will go into effect or has it?

its so much money. seems unfair. everytime i have travelled overseas i paid between 15 and 30 dollars for visa fees at the borders with none of this. we are not wealthy people and i am just hoping we come up with its all in such a short time. the interview is not long coming.

    thanks again

  6. hi

I was just re-reading somethings at the DOS website and now I am more confused. I was told that We will have to pay 1200 for AOS after Hani arrives. Now I am reading that He must pay 131 fee and anoter 355 fee just to have his interview? And that is after the fee we paid for the I129? And 150 for a doctor?

Please someone clear this up for me. He is filing for fiance visa and immigrant visa at the interview?

    thanks

  7.

I just checked the Vermont Immigration Website and They said they had approved our 129f and had sent out the notice on the 19th Jan.

It says its in post decision now. What does it mean? I cant even think straight right now. Please can anyone tell me what do I do now?

    Post-Decision Activity

On January 19, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

  8. Hi all.

Since my last post, I have found (fingers crossed) some potential co-sponsors. I have some problems though. One person, he is concerned that he does not know us. I found him through the community I used to live before. He has no issue with me as many people I know, he knows. He is concerned that he doesnt know my husband/fiance. I cant blame him really but he had asked me to try to alleviate his concerns. I am not sure what he is concerned about. He did mention that he is concerned about sponsoring someone from a hot-spot in the middle east. I am assuming that means he is not so much concerned about the financial responsibilty but something else entirely.many time talking to people when I say that my love is Palestinian, I get raised eyebrows. I need ideas how to alleviate his concerns. the only idea i can come up with is that the co-sponsor is just for the financial aspects of the immigration process. I wish there was a website that discussed what the I864 signer is NOT responsible for.

The other potential sponsor has a job but just recently got it. Can she still be a co-sponsor without tax forms but with a letter from work? if not good enough for the I864 then would it be ok for the I134?

    thanks

  9. Even if she got the I134 that person would have to step up for AOS after or he couldn't adjust status. What does happen if you get here on a K1 and never find anyone to sign up as a co sponsor for the AOS portion. Do they just remain deportable ? Has anyone ever been deported ?

I think I may have found someone to do the I-864 (lol) totally forgot about the I-134....If he does agree to the 864 i think the i134 would be ok too.

In my search for a sponsorI have found some interesting things. May or may not be useful to others in their search for one if needed.

this is a quote from an immigration law journal:

At the same time, it is important to provide a realistic assessment of the probability of actions to enforce the affidavit of support. The author is not aware of any successful actions to obtain reimbursement for means-tested benefit programs obtained by the alien, largely due to the following: (1) sponsored aliens are barred from receiving these benefits for a five-year period in most jurisdictions; (2) after this five-year period, the income of the sponsor is deemed to the alien in determining financial eligibility; and (3) most states have not implemented a system for seeking such reimbursement in cases where the alien does access benefits. Over the course of the last nine years, only a handful of actions have been brought against sponsors by the sponsored alien, and all have been by disgruntled spouses.

I do not know if anyone else has had a hard time finding someone not so freaked out by the idea of co-sponsoring. but it seems to me that their fears are like boogeymen in the dark. not really viable when the lights go on.

It was explained to me by a friend's husband who is an immigrant like this:

The government wants that paper to wave in the face of anyone who tries to go on public assistance. If an immigrant shows up to collect aid or insurance, the DHHS can say hey, you have a sponsor...go to them.

I will let you know how it all turns out with this prospective co as soon as i hear from him.

I would also like to know if anyone has been deported once they have gotten here and cannot find sponsor at AOS time.

  10. Hi everyone,

I have been with my fiance for just about 3 years. we have filled out all the paperwork and satisfied all the requirements. I am ready to file in the coming week.

My situation is hard, I am currently a single mother and I have a disability but do not receive benefits. I was working for 3 years at the same job but did not make enough to cover us all under the requirements. I was laid off in may because the owner got sick with cancer and had to sell the company. The new owner decided his wife would make a better employee. I can understand that, a much as i dont like it.

I need a co-sponsor. I have asked my family to no avail. they are just not interested. everyone is so scared of it. they hear 10 ///responsible for all his support...They dont want try to understand it. its sad but thats the dynamic of my family.

Our plans that we have talked about over the years is to have him come here, he can work until my child is ready for school and hopefully we will start a business here. He is an extremely hard worker and has his own business now in Lebanon. He wants to take care of me so I can get better and then we can work together.

I cannot find a co-sponsor. I dont know what to do. Its impossible for me to work now and I dont understand how the government could worry that an able bodied man would be approved for welfare. There is just no way he will become a public charge. He would never accept that sort of thing.

Someone told me that religious organizations would do co-sponsorship but I have not been able to find out anything to that effect,

I am sorry I am rambling and not making much sense. I am just at wits end.

    thanks all,

    cali
