  1. Oh no...thanks God, Brazil alow us to be dual citizen

I agree with NickD - don't leave home without a US passport. Anything could happen to it if it were mailed to you out of the country. Heck, I ran into difficulties with it being mailed inside the country from the passport office to me. It went missing for 3 weeks and the passport office had to cancel that one and reissue me another. Do the expedited - and if you can manage the same day process go for it. You can use your Brazilian passport to enter Brazil but as an American citizen you are not allowed to re-enter the US on a non-US passport. Get all of the forms and photos done now so you are ready to go the day of your citizenship oath. Good luck.
  2. You are like an angel!!! I seen you all over the place helping out, thank you!

Well I guess i always can go with the brazilian passport and my sister or husband can send it to me, right?

    Have a nice nught!

Yes, they take your green card because you are no longer a permanent resident. You will receive a Certificate of Naturalization in its place. As a US citizen you absolutely need a US passport to travel. You will need to apply for an expedited US passport and let them know your travel dates so they can get it to you in time. You are cutting it close with an expedited passport - if all of your information is correct and your photographs fine you should be able to get it in time but if there is a problem, you will have a delay and won't be able to get it in time. Your DL is definitely not enough - you will not be allowed on the plane without a passport, and you will require a US passport to get back into the US.

Here is information about applying for a US passport. Get the form filled out and have everything you need ready to go so you can send it off right after you have your Oath ceremony (make a copy of your certificate before you send it off - and yes, you need to send off your brand new certificate of citizenship as well). You have to apply in person at one of the listed offices.

  3. Hello again,

Well next week is going to be my Oath Ceremony, and I'm so relieved it will be over!!! Anyway, my question is:

I'm going to Brazil in 2 weeks, 8 days after my oath, so I wonder if they keep the GC, are they gonna give me any papers to re-entry the country, I'm sure just my DL is not going to be enough. And the new passport even if the make it right after, at court house where I'm going, it will take longer than 8 days? Thank you all for being so helful, Marlaise :help:

  4. Well at least they have some 80 odd field offices, but the USA is a big country. With that crazy green card thing not permitting you to have a US passport, you may only find 2 or 3 consulates in the entire USA you have to show up in person to get that passport renewed, that can mean over a thousand mile trip one way! Next to impossible to get an appointment, only at their convenience, then if you live in the northern states, pray you don't get a major blizzard. Can't call any numbers, have to write. Last Friday, all four internet weather sites predicted the low 70's for last weekend, we were in the 80's, how can they predict global warming when they can't even predict the weather one day in advance? It was with pure luck for our three biometric trips in the mid of winter, we didn't have any blizzards that day. Fortunately, our interviews occurred during the summer and early fall months.

    Now that is luck.

Yes they did. There will be one in Panama City next week, that's 40 miles away from my house. He said, that my letter might not make it in time, so I would have one there or Pensacola, and they do it at Court House, one at the time if necessary, because there are not many, in no more than 1 month. I ask him everything, because I also had so many doubts and i did not seem anybody knew the answeres.

Ow, Jacksonville at the door scares you, the ladies are not friendly, but after that they are very nice, I well remember the 1.a interview, the one with your husband, it took us maybe 5 minutes, and the agent was SO kind too...

Read: Who lives in the White House

Write: The President lives in the White House

Questions: 1 .Florida Capital, 2. Florida governor, 3. Who is the Father of our Country 4 .What is one promise you make when you become an American Citizen 5.What is the capital of the US 6.Name 2 national holidays....That was it...And I watched him aprroving everything...

  5. hy,

My interview is going to be on wed, or 09/16/2009. Would anybody be so kind and tell we wich papers I should take with me exactly?

I'm a little insecure, because of work, my husband is not gonna be able to go with me...

So could you please help me, got confuse and nervous. If I'm not mistaken I have to take even his Passport and Birth Certificate, please help me...

    Thanks Marlaise

  6. My appointemnt is in some days, because of work reasons my husband can't go with me, is that gonna be a problem?

And, I live in Northwest Florida, always have to go to Jacksonville or New Orleans for my appointments, for my Oath, are they gonna ask me to go to any of theses places?

I wish you all the best and, thanks again for all the help!

  7. WELL, I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS POSSIBLE, HOPE SOMEBODY CAN HELP ME!

I'VE BEEN MARRIED FOR 4 YEARS, I COULD HAVE APPLIED ALREADY FOR CITIZINSHIP THRU MARRIAGE, BUT IT WAS NOT GOING WELL ALREADY, SO I DECIDED TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPENED, AND NOW WE ARE DIVORCED. WELL AFTER ALL, I WONDER IF THERE IS A CHANCE FOR ME TO APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP ANYWAY OR NOT. I'VE READ SOMETHING ABOUT 5 YEARS STUFF, BUT I'M NOT SURE. ANY WORDS OF WISDOM TO ME, AND IWOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

  8. YOU PEOPLE ARE ANGELS!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!

WELL, I GOT MY GREEN CARD COUPLE WEEKS AGO, NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S OR WHEN I SHOULD TAKE THE NEXT STEP.

WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED SINCE JAN.05, GOT MY FIRST GREEN CARD 07/31/2006

    SECOND GC (10 YEARS) 03/30/2009

AM I ELIGIBLE ALREADY? THANKS ONCE MORE.

Thanks, other than the Constitution, yes, yes and yes....and have a good day, because I'm getting busy here, bye

  9. HELOO...I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT...SISTER...I'VE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS...BUT, GO BACK, NO MATTER WHAT, STICK IN THERE OR, GIVE UP, NO GREEN CARD...UNFORTUNATELY THAT'S HOW IT IS. YOU GOT TO DECIDE WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU...ONE MORE YOEAR OR HALF WITH HIM OR NO GREEN CARD. I'M SORRY BUT I HAVE A FRIEND THAT'S A IMMIGRATION LAWYER, AND SO IT IS. GOOD LUCK!
I doubt the title is clear enough.

I am from Canada, got married to a USC. But since he couldn't prove a reliable income, his brother sponsored me. It was all on good faith... but it failed, on my part. Not a matter of abuse, but I couldn't stand no more to see him do nothing, he worked the first year.. then find himself too sick to go to work.. would find a job, and couldn't keep it, because he always called in sick.. just because he didn't like the job no more... anyhow...

We lived together for two years, at his mom, so no paper work, lease, morgage to prove we lived together. We have practically no prove we were together. We didn't have a common bank account, because he has too many debts, and I didn't want the little money I make taken to pay his many debts. He didn't help me get my driver license for being too lazy.

We filled for taxes together twice, or once. We have pictures, I could have affidavit from his mom, family, mine that we indeed lived together, and that I also helped his mom pay for things....

I don't really want to be deported.. but My green card was approved in may 2007, and now I have to file before Feb 15 of this year. I left back in Dec 2008 to live in another state.. was too tired to deal with him and all his money issues. I haven't filed for divorce and he hasn't eitherAny idea what I should do?

And If it comes down to that, if I leave before the green card is expired... and just drop everything... am I considered deported and not able to visit the USA no more?

  10. FINALLY!!!! My 10 year Greencard has arrived. Thank you again for everybody who has shared their experiences and gave us an idea of how things are. VSC did suck for a year but now it's redemption time for them. They're doing their best to really do their job. All I can say is....Woooooooohooooooooooo!!!!:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: At least now i can rest for awhile before i start my Citizenship process. Goodluck to all and to all those who are still waiting don't lose faith. Keep the faith! God Bless!

    Congratulations! :star:

Congrats!!! No interview, anything before the 10 years GC? Im a little lost, help me, Mar
