  1. sorry to hear about that, you should file the 1-751 to ROC. the real problem is when he applys for citizenship,or if he should file the n-400 at all depends on the out come charges, you can lose your LPR status and be deported as a foreigner with a conditional green card, you may not be able to naturalize if you lack GOOD MORAL CHARACTER,

That's good to know. Thanks for info.

  2. Hi. So here's the situation. My husband's 2 year conditional status expires in January. We have paperwork in hand ready to file. He decided to drink too much, cops got called and he was charged with 3rd Degree Assault and Domestic Violence. He threw something at me. Anyway, he needs to get help with his drinking problem, bottom line. He has court this week. What's going to happen? If he pleads guilty, will he be deported? Should he even file the I751? This is such a mess. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks

  3. I am so sorry you have been waiting for so long. I feel your pain. I was pregnant and our K1 took over a year to approve. My fiance missed the birth of our son. It was the worst possible thing ever. I went to Juarez with my fiance and my 3 month old son last July. It took 1 miserable week there. I also had my 7 year old son with us, who of course had no idea what was going on. Why do we have to stay here?

Anyway, I wish you the best. I will pray for you. I think it would be so much easier to go to Mexico and be poor like you said. I think you'll make it. You will be just fine. IF you have the love and loyalty to wait 4 years, you can live anywhere. I know Mexico is so much different and you think about the money, but love will endure. I wish you the best of luck. Let me know if you have any questions about Juarez.

  4. Good luck to you too ReeRee. I'm sure you will do fine. It's exciting to think it's almost over (at least for 2 years).

Thanks for the thoughts SnS, Mike and Rebecca. I appreciate it.

So, we had our interview today in Denver. The IO was extremely nice in a very good mood. The first thing she says is I've done very few of these interviews and don't have authorization to approve them. My supervisor has to approve everything!! We were like OK.

She was very nice asked how we met, asked for proof of marriage, our son's birth certificate and pictures. She asked to keep the pictures. She never said a thing about my husband's bc.

Then she talked about removing conditions in 2 years and becoming a citizen. She said that everything looked good the approval just had to go through her supervisor. She said congratulations but never officially said you are approved. We said do we need anything else, no just wait she said. It should show up online by the end of the week.

So, we are excited but still nervous because we don't have an approval yet. Apparently she only can approve naturalization cases!! The waiting game continues!!!! At least she was a pleasant person. We were so nervous.

  5. Well just try not to panic. If they requested the original in Juarez then it must have been for a reason. If the IO asks you about it tomorrow, just tell them what happened and why you don't have it. They won't reject you just because it's not in your hands. At the most they will ask you to send it to them ASAP at which point your case will resume. But who knows, they could accept a photocopy and you get approved tomorrow! Just try to focus on the interview and not this little detail, you will drive yourself crazy otherwise (trust me, I've been trying not to go crazy about this interview since we got the appt date! lol). Don't worry about it now, just get through tomorrow and be sure to let us know how it goes! Good luck (F)

Thanks for your words of encouragement! I need it.

  6. Hmm..I wonder why they took his original BC? Is it because you didn't have a copy? In our interview letter it says to bring the original and a copy of everything, otherwise they might keep the original for their files. I'm guessing that they probably will want to see his original BC but the best you can do is still show up and see how it goes. Don't bring it up unless asked and if they do want to see it then you will just have to request another and send it in later. At worst they might hold off on approving until they receive it but they might just accept a photocopy and you will have nothing to worry about! Do you have enough time now before the interview to request another original?

Thanks for the response. We had two copies in Juarez, and they said they wanted the original bc. Now I'm really freaking out. Our interview is tomorrow morning at 10:45. #######.

  7. Hi guys. Happy New Year. I was just reading the post of stuff you have gathered for your interview. We have been gathering the same things for a couple of days now. We just realized that we only have a copy of my husband's birth certificate. The original was turned in at the consulate in Juarez for the k1 interview. Doe you think this is going to cause a problem tomorrow at interview?

  8. Hi Greg,

We submitted an I-693's with just the Vaccination pages filled in plus the signature pages. We had to go to war with the local health department - they wanted to give the full physical again even though Beth and Nicole (age 11 daughter) had them just a month earlier.

BTW - I filed TWO I-485s in the same packet. One for the k1 and one for the K2. The check was for $1,610.00.

So do we get two lines in the sheet! ;-) NOA for both come at the same time each time but in separate envelopes.

Thanks Mike, that's seems to be a common story with people just wanting the vaccination supplement. Thanks for the update. I'll keep your data on one line in the spreadsheet unless the dates start to diverge.

hey, we filed 3 I-485 in the same packet too, one for me and 2 for my k-2 kids, one check for $1010 and two checks for $600. :P today at 2 pm are my biometrics (me and and one kid) tomorrow my older boy at 8 am. wish me luck guys!!!

Hi Greg. Thanks for the work on the spreadsheet. It's awesome. We filed the I693 just needing the vaccination supplement part as the exam was done in Juarez for the K1.

    Thanks

  9. I thought we had to wait for EAD to apply for a SSN.

No - could have applied for it shortly after entering the US.

So, we filed the AOS paperwork last week. I read a post that the SSN office won't issue a card if the I94 is ready to expire?

Yup - if it has less than 14 days remaining (if you've got an SSA office nearby, might be worth a trip to find out).

    Did we screw something up?

    Not really, no.

Can we still apply for SSN?

You'll may have to wait for the EAD to come in to apply .

He only has a copy of his birth certificate also, will that suffice?

Needs his passport with I-94 in it.

    Great Thanks. I appreciate it.

Another question?? If we go to the Soc Sec office today what do we mark on the form? Legal Alien allowed to work?

    Thanks

  11. Help!!! My husband and I just filed AOS. HE came in on a k1 visa and the I94 is going to expire at the end of the month. I thought we had to wait for EAD to apply for a SSN.
