  1. Hi,

I would not recommend it either. It's risky, because that the local offices don't always get the rescheduled times. When we had our interview ,we heard one guy from Austria talking to the IO, their case was denied because they did not show up for the interview, but the guy's wife called to reschedule the interview time, and she did. But of course ,the local time did not get it and denied their case. He was lucky enough to get another interview at the spot.

  2. OK...Just got back from the ASC. They Uniformed guy at the office said they dont give anything in writing for the second Biometrics that I received which indeed is a computer error. He added, Unless i want to appear for the Biometrics for the second time for which i am scheduled, I shouldn't worry about it.

    What do I do now?

I mean I do have prove for the first Biometrics, since i appeared on time and they stamped the letter which was returned to me. Should I pursue it?

I did not get anything for my other two biometrics letters. Got back just one stamped letter, and I was fine. But I don't know about you. Do what you think is right and safe for you.

  3. Hi,

It just feels that your boyfriend is not telling the whole truth to you. It would be very risky to come here ,and marry somebody you have never met personaly. And people here are right,if he is way behind paying his child support ,how is he planning on getting money to come see you, and pay all the immigration fees?

    Wish you all the best!

  4. I got 3 identical biometrics letters. One was sent by mistake (the offices were closed on December 26th). I went to my second one and brought all the letters. The officer was very surprised that I got so many. Quote " I don't know why they sent you 3 letters. Stamped one thru the others. But you should not ignore it, because the local office may not know about your second leter. and I would not trust calling and talking to the customer service.

  5. i. I am married to US citizen, and applied for green card through marriage. Before that I had F-1 status, lost it, and was out of status for 1 year.

In a couple months we will have our initial interview. I was wondering if I can go back to my country for a couple weeks because one of my relatives iz very sick.

Am I eligible for an advance parole?

And also what is the reason to postpone an interview? If I am ill for that day, can I just call day before and reschedule it?

    hey,

If I were you I WOULD NOT leave until I have the GC. You can apply for the advance parole, it takes about 2-3months, but still would be very dangerous to travel even with the AP, because you overstayed. It's a big risk which I would not take.

  6. Hi. I am really new to this forum (and to forums in general), so I apologize if I am posting in the wrong section. But I would really appreciate advice... I am a Canadian citizen, here in the US on a J1 visa. I am married to a US citizen, got married 2 years ago and we also have a child, born here. Are we able to go ahead and apply using the I-130 form, or do we need to take other steps? Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can file I-130 concurrently with I-485(and everything that goes with this petition) only if you are not subject to a two year foreign residency requirement. If you are, its a way longer journey ,because you would need to get a waiwer ,which I don't know much about.

  7. where is your local office? you are so lucky it went fast for you. sa akin ka pa nagtanong nun about sa CS d ba. i filed in Nov and until now wala pa ding result yung akin so i guess i have to call them kase baka pareho lang tayo ng local office. ako sa sacramento din. Good luck!

hi pinoy pinay. oo nashock nga ako kasi may interview agad. but hopefully this isnt a sign of badluck! God help me. Anyways baka wala ka nang interview? cguro na transfer na sa yo sa CSC kaya medyo matagal? basta i had biometrics sa Santa Rosa tapos interview daw sa Sacramento. Saan ka nagbiometrics? thanks. keep me posted

I got my initial interview letter first. My EAD came couple days before our interview and was taken away at the interview. Don't worry about what comes first, as long as you already have your interview. Good luck!!

what u mean taken away??? why? they never gave it back?

They took it because we were approved. You don't need your EAD anymore than you get your GC.

  8. I had my interview last week, all went well, said it looked good and he would finalize reviewing that afternoon, said I should receive everything in the mail within a week - if not to make an appointment.

Nothing in the mail yet, and no updates by email or on the website.

How long does it usually take to receive some kind of letter?

We had our Interview Dec. 8, 2008. The guy that interviewed us didn't even tell us if we were approved or not and we haven't rec'd any updates or anything in the mail either. When I call USCIS they just tell us we're still in the normal processing time  That doesn't make sense when I see everyone else on VJ gets told whether they're approved or not at the time of the Interview and also get an approval letter within a week or two after the Interview.

Just letting you know, just in case your takes as long! Good Luck!

I feel bad for you. I will never understand how USCIS works. Hope you will get it soon.

We were approved recently. Got my stamp in my passport and our IO said that the real card would be arriving whithin 2-3 weeks. One week after our interview I got my welcome to US letter, so I am hoping to get my card after another week or so.

  10. Guys, I am gathering documents to show bonafide relationship for our AOS interview next week.

My main question is: we have hundreds of emails and also online chats from when we were dating. I don't want to print it all ($$)... HOW MANY emails should I print? A few samples for different time periods? HOW MANY? 10? 50? 100?

I also don't really want to print online chats... should I?

    Documents I am taking:

    - Joint 2008 tax return

    - Joint health insurance (from my hubby's work)

    - I just added him to my bank account so we won't have statements together, only a letter from the bank saying we have a joint account together. Is that too bad?

    - Pictures of our one year relationship (including a few with him meeting my parents and sibling who visited here, and only 2 of me with his parents, and also civil wedding pictures with one friend only)

    - Joint utility bills: electric, gas and cable bills for 1 or 2 months (got married about 3 months ago)

    - No joint lease (he moved in to my apartment)

    - No joint cellphone

    - I have a train ticket from when I visited him one weekend while he was in college...

Do you guys think this is enough evidence? Interview came too fast, we thought we would have more time to gather things.

    Hey mimi :) ,

You guys seem fine to me. Some couples have even less and they do fine. As you already know our IO didn't ask for anything. Maybe one of you have a prepaid cell, so you can print that. You don't have to print every email, we printed probably one email every 4-5 months. Maybe you have some mail coming where it mentions both your names, or cards from others with cristmas and etc. that would show your IO that you live together even if he is not one the lease. Good luck!!! You will be fine!!!!

  11. My problem is that I never had a middle name, after marriage i have decided to take my husband's last name and keep my maiden name as my middle name. That is how i filed out my petitions to USCIS. Did not have any problems. When we went to SSO to change my name on my SS card I told her that I wanted to keep my maiden name as my middle, but the young lady at the office said that she can only put my husband's last name on ss card, and to put my maiden name as middle I would need to get a court order...??? I am not changing anything, USCIS didn't have any problems, my cousin did the same thing when she got married and did not need a court order...so I am lost and need your guidance. Thanks!

Person at SSA office doesn't what they are doing.

RM 00203.210 Changing Numident Name Data

    https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203210

    D. Examples of Legal Name Changes

    6. Change of Middle Name to Maiden Name on SSN Card

Lisa Smith Jones applies for a replacement SSN card in that name because she lost her SSN card. The prior Numident records show the names Lisa Marie Smith and Lisa Jones. She submits a driver’s license showing her name as Lisa S. Jones.

It is a common occurrence in the U.S. for a woman to take her maiden name as the middle name after marriage. Because a legal name generally consists of a first or given name and a surname or family name, whether the identity document submitted shows the middle name is included, omitted or incorrect does not matter.

SSA can process the change of Lisa’s middle name. This is not a legal name change because the first and last names have not changed.

NOTE: In cases where there are questions about whether the applicant is the number holder, it may be necessary to request additional evidence of identity and the have the applicant explain middle name changes.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have read this couple of times, but misread it. She told me to come back when I have my court order so she could put my maiden name on the card. For now it is just my husband's last name(which i am still waiting for). Oh,well ,I am going to print this and point at it. Thanks again!!!!
