  1. Hi all,

Gathering all of my infomration to send off to Vermont and have a few last minute questions.

I'm using a soft-back 3 hole binder and have dividers for each area of the eveidence that I am listing; I also have a cover letter. On the large envelope that I am mailing, it looks like I'm suppose to have listed "RE: joint petion to remove conditions of status on: "Jane Doe" Do you all have this on the cover of your package? In addition, I have her full name and Alien number; should this be on the front of the envelope of the package that I am mailing, in addtion to the cover letter? Hope this makes sense.

Assembling package linke on USCIS website:

    - On the USCIS website where it talks about assembling packages to send, it mentiones including the recipt number in addition to the alien number when applicable; wonder what the recipt number is; any idea?

-finally, Do ya'll reference any information on the letter that they sent, the "Notice of requirment to file joint petion to remove conditional basis of an alien's permanet resisdent status"? Did ya'll put this file number that is on this letter, in your cover letter? Did ya'll make a copy of the letter and include it in your package?

    Appreciate any feedback!

  2. Hi All,

I have listed evidence that my immigrant wife and I have gathered for Removal of Conditions. I have read thru some post and it looks farily average compared to some...maybe just being overly paranoid. I apprciate any feedback about the quality of our evidence. The house was/is in my name, as I owned it when we got married; does that matter? At some point, I plan on possibly re-fiancing and can add her name at that point. Anyway, appreciate any feedback on my evidence. Is it enough? Should anything be taken off? i.e. the pet adoption or wash machine warranty info? Wasn't sure about that. Also, we don't have any credit cards in BOTH names yet. I hate credit cards and try to shy away from them, but we do have our joint bank account listed. Thanks for taking the time to read and good luck to all!

Copy of immigrant spouse conditional green card.

Sworn affidavits by U.S. citizen friends, attesting to our relationship and marriage.

Company Letter designating life insurance beneficiary as immigrant spouse.

Company Letter listing immigrant spouse on Health Insurance policy.

A partial copy of our 2008 and 2009 joint US tax return.

    Copy of Joint Auto insurance.

Copy of the title of car, showing joint ownership.

Copies of Driver Licenses showing same address.

    Copy of joint checking account

Utility company letter specifying joint utilities with immigrant spouse.

Copy of Joint Comcast Internet and Cable TV bill statement

Copy of joint AT&T Cell phone bill.

Copy of Joint Pet adoption form, of pet that we adopted

Copy of Joint Membership Zoo card.

Copy of Warranty Information, jointly purchased for Wash Machine

Cards from and to each other, from family and from friends

Various photos thru Holidays and seasons of ourselves and with friends

  3. Anyone had any experiences in the Memphis office lately? My wife and I have our interview there in February and was just curious. Here is a brief time line.

    2/2007 met

    9/2008 married

    9/2008 medical exam

10/2008 sent all paper work to Chicago

    11/2008 biometrics

12/2008 EAD and received interview appt.

Whew, things seem to be flying by. We are getting all of our "proof" of marriage living together info together and the interview date came way quicker than expected. We have 2 affidavit letters from friends, joint checking account. beneficiary letter from my employee to my wife, bills in both our names, wedding photos, vacation photos, holiday cards sent to our home with both our names on the envelope. Can anyone recommend anything else to do to prepare for the interview? The house is in my name, cause I had it before we married. We are planning to get a car before too long in both our names, but that may be after the interview.

    Ideas? Suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Greg

Any experiences in the Memphis office? I have interview Tuesday.....excited and nervous....will be relieved to get it over with. Everything seems to look fine; hopefully the interview will be a mere formaility

  4. Hi,

Do ya'll think the following is enough for evidence? Thanks so much for reading; I would value and appreciate anyone's opinion. Good luck with your situation, whatever it is.

    Evidence:

Several Holiday cards postmarked and addressed to both of us; we also have a couple of cards from earlier in the year from friends for baby shower and wedding invitations.

3 notarized affidavit letters from friends

Health Insurance Card issued from my employer in my wife’s name

    Life Insurance in both names

Employment beneficiary letter designating my wife as my beneficiary

Monthly Bills: (Phone bill, Electrical bill and Comcast Cable TV in both of our names

Joint bank account statement in both our names

Photos spanning over almost 2 years including wedding, honeymoon, and miscellaneous photos

I already have an old car; we are ironically looking at getting a new one at some point in both our names, but I doubt we will be able to before the interview. My house is only in my name for now; I doubt I will be able to change it to both names before interview. I'm hoping my existing info that I specified is enough.

  5. Ok so we've got our interview this Friday ... finally. We are both starting to freak out. I went kind of super ####### on the K1 process (see the link to my K1 interview report below in my signature). But between the holidays and things going crazy at work due to the economy, I haven't had nearly the time to put in on the AOS interview. In particular, some searches I've done for interviews in Santa Ana, CA, show a few pretty horrendous reports. Most are ok though. For those looking, here are some links to those interviews for the Santa Ana office:

I hope that helps. Now if I may ask you guys a few questions ...

    1) I worry that our evidence is thin. Can you recommend anything else, as creative as it may sound (like holiday cards was a great suggestion I got)? Here's what we're bringing:

    - 2007 Federal Returns filed jointly

    - Apartment lease agreement with both of our names, initialed by both on each page, and signed by both

    - Company health plan with her named as dependent and beneficiary

    - Company health plan and dental cards with both names

    - Cell phone bill with both phone numbers

    - Health club contracts for me and her with same address and billing info

    - Check (void) with both of our names and address; my concern here is that I don't have a bank statement with both of our names as my bank will not issue that.

    - 2 photo albums - 1 for the wedding (50 photos) and 1 with photos since she crossed the border (100 photos); my concern here is that they are not time stamped.

    - Stack of wedding, birthday, and holiday cards addressed to both of us

For all of these documents except photos and cards, I have a copy.

    2) Item 2 on the interview notice references a medical examination (Form I-693) unless already submitted. We went through the K1 process and a full medical was taken if I remember correctly. I'm assuming that ominous brown envelope is what is sent to them to fulfill this item?

WRONG ASSUMPTION. YOU NEED A I-693 FILLED OUT BY A USCIS DESIGNATED CIVIL SURGEON!

    3) Item 3 on the interview notice references the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) which I believe was already submitted when we sent in the I-485 application. I'm bringing a copy of the entire I-485 application anyway with updated pay stubs and salary increase indications from my employer. Does this sound right?

    4) Item 8 asks for the petitioner's birth certificate AND evidence of U.S. Citizenship. I do not have my birth certificate. I have relied on my U.S. passport and SS# as proof of citizenship throughout this process. Is this an issue?

    SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM

    5) My wife can hold a decent conversation in English having taken ESL (English as a Second Language) classes since she crossed the border a year ago. However, she is not "fluent." Would it be wise to bring a translator just in case? If so, can she bring her friend or does it have to be some sort of certified professional translator?

    6) What is appropriate attire? I was planning on suit and tie but others have recommended something a little more casual. My wife plans to go in a pant suit outfit.

    CASUAL

Thanks so much in advance for reading this and any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated especially if it's about the Santa Ana office in particular.

How about a life insurance policy?

sounds fine to me; good luck on Friday. We keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I have the following and am wondering if it is enough as well:

Several Holiday cards postmarked and addressed to both of us; we also have a couple of cards from earlier in the year from friends for baby shower and wedding invitations.

3 notarized affidavit letters from friends

Health Insurance Card issued from my employer in my wife’s name
