  1. Thank you so much guys for taking the time to share your knowledge and accreliable information, I really appreciate it. To clarify some things about the divorce we had to refile everything. Instead of joint petition they switched it to summon petition since he doesn't want to cooperate. He doesn't want to go with the divorce procedure, what he wanted to do is file an annulment and have me deported. I have no idea where hes getting all these information that he can file an annulment and he can have me deported because he doesn't want to be responsible for me anymore. He thinks the only way to end the I-864 contract is to have me deported. He said he would tell the immigration that everything is fraud that I just used him to get my GC. We have a lot of common friends who can testify that our marriage was in good faith. He just have a bitter taste in his mouth because he wanted to reconcile for him to have the power to manipulate, control and abuse me. But I refused simply because I don't wana go back to that miserable kind of life. So since things did not turn out the way he wanted it he is now being vindictive.

He also mentioned that if I remarry right away that would end his obligation or responsibility. Is there any truth on this? I keep telling him I do not want anything from him I even made that statement to these people who process our divorce papers.

Again please feel free to share some input.

    Thank you so much.

    Have a good week everyone.

    God bless.

  2. Hello everyone! It's nice to be back here. I have a question that some of you may know the answer or some who don't might learn from it. I am a permanent resident with a 10 year GC. My husband and I are getting a divorce and we filed for it as joint petition. But then he changed his mind and he doesn't want to sign the papers. I think one of the reason is he just wanted to give me a hard time, but the main reason is he doesn't want to be financially responsible for me for another six years. He said he called the USCIS and according to them he would be still responsible for me financially after the divorce. And in that case he said he would do everything to have me deported. I think he was given a wrong info by the people from immigration. But I am not really sure if its true or not. Does anyone know if theres some truth on this infortion? If so would you please send me a link where I can find it from their website.

I already told him I do not want any material things from him, all I want is my freedom. I can no longer stand to stay on this abusive kind of relationship for for four years of being married to him.

Please feel free to share your opinion.

    Thank you very much.

  3. I become permanent resident (2-yr GC holder) in September 2006. I filed my application for 1-751 (10-yr GC) in June 2008 and had my interview in February 2009. And since then I haven't heard anything from them. Do you think N-400 would help and would not complicate my pending case? Another thing is, my extension letter will expires on September this year, and it's been a year since I sent my application for I-751.

  4. I called USCIS today because 94 days had already passed since my interview ( for I-751) and I haven't heard anything from them. The customer representative advised me to make an infopass because there is nothing they can do about it.

I am not sure if this is a good idea because USCIS office is almost 3 hours drive from where I live and would be a waste of time and money if info pass won't make any difference or resolve anything in my case. Does anyone here in this forum have done the infopass and find out the status of their case? Everyone is welcome to share their honest opinion. Thanks everyone.

  5. Thanks guys, it's a sort of relief knowing there are some people who understand what we are going through. It wasn't really a smart move on my part when I changed my address, but I cannot undo it. All I can do is just charged it to experience. I would like to solicit a personal opinion though, is it a good idea to change my address back to the old one (my own home address before I changed it into my friend's address) while waiting for the decision from USCIS or just wait until I hear from them? I am really confuse, I don't want to make any more mistake this time. Thanks for all the nice words.

  6. Hi everyone, sorry it took me a while to write my interview account. I needed sometime to get over with my disappointment.

I had my interview on February 26th, but I would say it didn’t go well as we were expecting. If you guys still remember in my previous post I originally filed my application to California Service Center, but they relocated it to a service center close to my place for adjudication.

So here how it went, my interview appointment was 8:00 AM, we got there at 7:35 then we had to go through with the security check so we finally went upstairs and waited at the lobby at 7:45. We got called in at 8:15. This lady officer was so unfriendly and not pleasant at all.

She asked us to follow her at her office. She introduced herself and made us swear under oath, and then she asked us to sit down. She first asked me my first name, last name and address. After those two questions the problem started already. She asked my husband to leave the room and sent him to the lobby. In my previous posts, I did not mention that I changed my address. My husband and I went on vacation with our friend for almost two weeks. I was afraid to miss my mail from USCIS so I asked my other friend to intercept my mail (just for USCIS mail) while I was gone and I used her home address temporarily. I know I should have went to the post office and ask them to hold my letters for me while we were gone but the reason I asked my friend to intercept my mail is because I also gave her permission to open any letter from USCIS and call me as soon as it comes in the mail because I was so excited to hear from them. After I changed my address online they sent me a letter of confirmation. Then I called them and told them I just wanted to change my mailing address not the home address. The lady I spoke with on the phone told me it doesn’t matter at all because they are not going to put the address on the green card anyway. So this lady officer made a big deal of it. She asked me why I changed my address so I tried to explain it to her but she just raised her brows and she said she needs to send my husband outside so that she can talk to me. She kept telling me changing my address because we went on vacation doesn’t really make sense. She asked for my friend’s name that went with us and the place where we went. She was also asking me lots of questions like if either I or my husband has been arrested and I said no. Then she asked me if we have had a domestic violence and if my husband ever hit me. This question made me nervous and confused. We did have some domestic violence but I do not have a complete recollection of it. That was two years ago, it happened in 2006 before we even got married. That was the year when I just first got here. My husband and I were having some fights due to some cultural differences and some other stuff as normal couples do. So his mom called a cop because she was afraid for me because I was new here in states and has no one but my husband. But we have settled everything and the cops left. It seems to me she was looking on the records on the computer while asking me bunch of questions and expecting me to answer her in detail. Most of the questions I cannot recall anymore and she was so impatient while waiting for my answers and told me it wasn’t that long ago for me to forget everything. And then she become more unfriendly and told me why I said no when she asked me if my husband has been arrested. And I told her because the way I understand arrested is when the cops take him away. But they didn’t. She just said in an irritable voice the answer then is yes not no. She kept shaking her head with my answers as she was writing them down. I think she doubted us. And maybe she doubted if my husband and I still live together. Then she asked me if we have already filed for tax returns from last year and I said yes. I don’t have an extra copy so she made a copy for herself. Then she gave it back to me and told me to wait at the lobby and she was going to talk to my husband. She did not even look at the bunch of other documents I brought with me. She escorted me at the door and called my husband back in. She asked him the same questions about the domestic violence thing. And some details about my friend’s name whom we went on vacation with. After the interview she escorted my husband at the door and told him to wait for the decision in two to three months?

I am so disappointed how my interview turned out. I was so prepared and organized and I am not sure what went wrong. I am so confused. I am so afraid that we might get denied. I have too many questions in my mind like why they had to bring up the past that happened long time ago. How come they did not bring that up during the 2-year green card application (Adjustment of Status) why they had to dig out that record from the past about the domestic violence and bring it up now? Are they going to do further investigation of the place where we went for vacation to find out if we really been there? Is it going to affect my application at all? Is changing my address will affect anything regarding my approval or denial? I didn’t realize changing my address would caused me all these troubles.

Can anyone help me make the right decision whether to change my address again back to my original home address or should I wait until I hear from them? I haven’t changed it yet after the interview, what they have on the record is still my friend’s address. I am afraid it will cause another problem if I change it again because they might get confuse but I am also afraid it might cause more problems if I don’t because they might think my husband and I are separated plus the fact that I never lived to that address that is currently on my record . What would be the best thing to do about it? Any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated. Everyone is welcome to share their honest opinion. Thanks again.

    Happy Mother's Day to all!

  7. Hi Everyone! I finally received a notice in the mail from USCIS (Milwaukee Office) for my interview appointment. They even misspelled my name on the letter but its not a big deal. The only thing that really concerned me is one of these requirements that I have to bring on the interview.

This is just an excerpt from the letter (lists of requirements to bring with me)

"This notice, your spouse, your passport, your alien card, and "2 RECENT PHOTO" (specifications may be obtained from website)... and some evidence to prove the marriage etc...

Are they refering to a photo of my husband and I together, if so they should not limit it into two right? Or are they refering to a photo with specific size like a passport? I was browsing their website all day but I could not find the specification of this photo. And besides photo with specific size is not even included on the list of the requirements in filing I-751. Was it a mistake? Does anyone has any idea about it, or can anyone provide me the link of the website where I can find the specs?

My interview is scheduled next month, any idea or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for all the replies. This forum is such a blessing to each and everyone of us.

    Thanks everyone. God bless

Its very rare for a joint petition to get an interview. There is no need to worry as its a quality protocol or something the officer needs to get clear. Carry your whole file and whats asked for, you should be ok

Hi 3600rs, Thank you so much for the encouragement. Have a great day. God bless :-)

  8. Hi,

There's nothing questionable about the requirements. I had an interview on Dec. and received the same letter with those requirements. Well it didn't say "evidence to prove marriage", it just said to bring the originals of what I've submitted before. But it did mention the photos, they're just passport photos and they ask for these to see if you prefer these instead of the one taken at your biometrics, at least that's the explanation that an inmigration attorney gave me. Anyway, at the interview I wasn't ask for the photos, but bring them to the appoinment because they asked for them. Good luck at the interview  Also you mentioned that your name was mispelled on the letter, at the interview make sure your name is correct so you don't get your greencard with your name mispelled.

Hi Andersen, thanks for the reply it surely helped like others. How was your interview? Thanks for the advice, I would definitely ask them to correct the typo on my name.

Hi Poetry sorry to hear that you have to get the interview, I wish you good luck. Could you be so kind to let us know when you sent your docs to California & when you got your biometrics done, so we can have an idea how California Immigration has been processing the cases, or how long it takes to them to decide for an interview from the time they get the docs, as I understood very seldom they ask for an inteview.

Tks again & good luck!!!!! :star:

Hi Daphne2109, I sent my documents to CSC in July. I had my biometrics in August. And then in December they sent me another notice informing me they've relocated my application to Milwaukee office for Adjudication. And finally last week I received a notice in the mail for my interview appointment. I hope this one helps. Thanks.

USCIS needs your pictures in order to process your application in case your application to remove conditions is approved. you can find the photo specs from the ling below:

Thanks for the link Pure8heart. It surely helped.

  12. Hello everyone! This is my first time to post here hoping to get some answer to my question.

I originally filed my I-751 application to CSC in June(California Service Center) as required. I was hoping to receive my GC this month since it's been six months already and some people I know got theirs in two weeks time after they sent their application to CSC (in fact later than I did). But in December I received a letter from USCIS informing me they relocated my application to the service center close to my place (Milwaukee) for Adjudication, and that I have to wait for another notice for my interview date.

It made me wonder why. Does anyone in this forum has the same experience? What might be the reason that they had to relocate my application from CSC to Milwaukee? Some people I know they received their GC without any interview. I doubled check my package before I sent it to make sure I did not overlook anything, its well organized too to make the job easier for USCIS staff.

Any insight or comment to enlighten my mind would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Happy new year to everyone!
