  1. Hello everyone!

So great news today. My husband called me last night and told me he passed his interview!!! Woohoo! Thanks everyone for your help and support.

Here's the breakdown for anyone who's interested:

His interview was scheduled for 10am, he got there at around 7:40am, gave in his cell phone/passport/other documents and waited until 11:30ish/noon. I believe he was also interviewed by the same lady that Loi&Suong was interviewed by (a Korean lady/Vietnamese translator)-- the interview took no more than 10 minutes! WOW! The questions were:

    1. How did you guys meet?

    2. When did you meet in person?

    3. When did you become boyfriend/girlfriend?

    4. When did you get married?

    5. Can I see some pictures of you guys together? -- Gave her the wedding pictures, she didn't want to see them, instead she saw other pictures of our outgoings.

So the only "prove" that he showed her were a few pictures of us at the beaches - no chat logs, no phone logs, nothing else.

Then she said "You're very clear." - and the Vietnamese lady handed back all our original documents and gave him the pink slip. He will pick up his visa on the 29th.

Thanks again everyone and all the best for those who have upcoming interviews!

    Good news. :thumbs::whistle::dance: congrats.

All the questions are the same. I believe your husband interviewed the same lady with my wife. My wife is picking up her Visa on 29 of May too. I wonder why we are picking up the Visa the same time? hmmm. any clues?????

Yes, I believe they both got the same interviewer, which is great. Perhaps they pile up all the visa approvals for the week, and process them all for the next week? But nonetheless, congrats to both of us! Woohoo! Have you booked the ticket?

  3. I've also sent in the original police certificate to NVC. NVC sent me a RFE after they've misplaced it. I called them and told them that it would be very difficult for me to obtain another one, and that I have made an extra copy for myself. They told me just send in the copy. I've talked to 3 operators and they all told me to send in the copy and it's 110% okay. As long as the PCC was obtained within 1 year, it's perfectly fine to send in a copy.

  4. Is it an interview package that lists all the docs your wife must bring to the interview? Is it the same interview package that was sent via email earlier?

Yes, it's the interview package that lists all the docs mine wife MUST bring to her interview (from HCM Consulate), and NO, it's almost the same package that NVC send it to both of us by via email after NVC case completed and forward to HCM city (from NVC).

    1) The via email sent from NVC with my wife and my name on it. (received on 03/07/09)

    2) The via email received from HCM Consulate without our name on it. (received today 05/12/09)

I think HCM Consualte is trying to confusing me. Here's the package IV from HCM Consulate. It's important information, but without any os US information. Why are they send it to me???? calling package IV?????

I think you don't have anything to worry about. It's just a general letter about what to bring to the interview that's why it is not personalized. Don't worry. Good luck with your wife's interview. We're all waiting to hear from you next Monday :)

  5. My wife having her Medical Exam tomorrow 04-22-09 @ Cho Ray. (don't know which one, we hired a lawyer in HCM).

How long does the Medical take? And how much does it costs? (My wife told me 2 million dong = $120 US)

does 2 trieu includes everything? laywer fees + medical fees?

No, 2 trieu only for Medical Exam for tomorrow. He actually not a lawyer, something like a service agent in VN, cost only $300 from begin to end. Take care all the paperwork for my wife, medical exam, interview, and etc.

Medical Exam at Cho Ray costs $100 USD. Your wife needs to take 2 vaccines (Trung Tam Kiem Dich so 40 duong Tran Huy Lieu) and bring a vaccine reicept to Cho Ray. You don't have to make an appointment for Medical Exam but Cho Ray only schedule in the morning and 1PM-2PM for Medical Exam. You will come next day (in the afternoon after 2:30PM) to get your seal envelope result if normal case. Dr. also tell your result verbally.

    Good luck,

What is the 2 vaccines you speak of -- this is the first time I've heard about this. Do you need the vaccinations before going to Cho Ray?

  7. I have a question. Cho Ray requires an original appointment letter -- where/how do we get this? We only got a letter over email. Please advise.

  8. i got one on friday, now just waiting for the hard copy so that i can mail it back to them with the requested info...but not sure how long it takes...

Mine was mailed out on April 2nd, but I have not received it up to this day. What you do is reprint the cover sheet for either AOS or DS230, and mail the missing document with that.

Today is April 13th and I still have not received a hardcopy of the RFE. My case was completed last week.

Bottom line - don't wait for hardcopy. Just find out what the RFE is for and mail it with the barcode cover letter.

    Good luck!

  9. seem like you and I, we both have the same timeline. I was married on June-15, and you married on June-14. I am actually working on my timeline prepare for my wife interview on May-18, and your wife interview on May-22. I hope both of our wife will pass, and both of them will be in the US at the same time. good luck to your wife interview. Here's a link should help you work on your timeline.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=187997

Yah, I did realize that we have basically the same timeline -- except I'm sponsoring my hubby :)

But please do share your wife's experience after she interviews.

Keeping fingers crossed for both of us.

  10. 4/07/09 -- Called NVC - case under final review

    4/07/09 -- Called NVC again -- @5:50pm -- CASE COMPLETE!!!

How did you find out that your case was under final review? AVR or operator?

Thanks and good luck at the interview!

Kotana -- I found that out by calling and speaking with an operator. On 4/7 -- I think I called them at least 3 times. First time, they told me they received our missing police report. Second time, they told me case under final review. Third time, before leaving work, I called again and was told CASE COMPLETE! Call me obsessed, but I can't help it. Best of luck!

  11. HCMC is known for expecting more than the minimum evidence. A time line is a one or two page (typically) document that you get notarized for a couple of dollars. Is there a good reason not to do this? Why have something this small possibly raise a question.

Think "BIG PICTURE" in your steps along the way. A well prepared package combined with a well prepared/confident beneficiary will have far fewer problems. The little things do matter, especially at HCMC. Take the extra steps so you get the APPROVAL at the interview.

    Best of luck.

Woohoo -- just called NVC a few minutes ago, and got our interview date.

    MAY 22, 2009!

Thanks Anh Map, you're right. I shouldn't let something this small be an another unnecessary obstacle.

    Congratulations and good luck.

The CO will probably ask your SO questions that the CO cannot possibly know the answer to. They are looking at your SO's reaction. Confidence during the interview is important.

Thanks Kevin and Tuyen for your wishes. I agree, confidence is a must. I'm just curious as to why you got a blue slip during your CR1 interview. It seems like a timeline most likely only required of fiancee visas?

You can't be dependent on the mail delivery service in Vietnam...so I guess that was another reason why I was asking about the timeline. I could do the timeline, but what if my husband never receives it? Anyone who has passed a CR1 interview without getting a blue slip because of a lack of a timeline, please share.

Thanks again and good luck to everyone. It has been a long one.

  13. Hey everyone,

So on 4/7/09, we were thrilled to find out that our case has been finally completed at the NVC. I've been browsing this forum a bit, and read up on something about writing up a timeline of our relationship. We do have quite a bit of evidence, so my question is -- is this truly necessary? I know it has to be notarized in advanced so it would be helpful to get it done prior. Anyone got an CR1 visa acceptance without a timeline?

We haven't gotten our interview date yet -- waiting very impatiently :(

Anyone booking tickets in advance of the interview date? Is it better to buy the tickets in the US or have your spouse buy it in VN?

Here's our timeline below for anyone interested.

  14. On Feb 2nd, CSC received my RFE for evidence of US citizenship. Today is the 8th, and no status update from about case resuming or anything. I notice that some people wait a day or two before their status is changed to "resume" --- it's been a week of waiting -- do you think this is reasonable wait time?

How long did you have to wait after the center receives your RFE?

    Thanks so much guys.

    Please advise.
