    We wanted to thank the VJ staff and all the lucky people that have made this website part of their journey. We started our journey on February 17th of 2009. Our journey has taken 1538 days to reach the finish line and my wife is now a United States citizen!

    In the beginning of our journey, we felt we were on an island by ourselves until VJ showed us the path to success. VJ showed us we were not alone or unique! The website provided us with answers, directions and techniques to fulfill our dreams from the beginning.

    Our Journey has not ended it has just began!

    I want to thank my wife for her keeping her head up and the happiness she has brought into my life. I would also like to thank VJ staff and all the VJ members for allowing us to be a part of their life.

    Bringing my Mother in law to US for visit

    Thanks everyone for your advice!

    As you may know,. I have no choice but to try and move this forward for my wife. We have a little bit of time left so I will continue to research.

    We have friends that brought their parents over from China but they used an agency that put things together for them. I don't know how that works!

    I have learned not to worry about things, if it happens it happens, got to try... faith in the system is the hard part!

    Bringing my Mother in law to US for visit

    All,

    My wife is from China and is now a permanent resident... We are having a child in December and she would like to bring her Mom over from China to help in December when the baby comes. We have started gather document to get her a visa. We understand this is not going to be easy and the odds maybe against us. My wife's Mom is a farmer and has no real income except from her children and in addition to this the home see lives in is owned by my wife. Three questions:

    1 - Can I provide an affidavit of support (I-134) to overcome the financial huddle?

    2- Is there a list of items anyone would recommend for proof she will return to China?

    3 - Any other suggestions

    Made it from K1 to PR, this can't be as hard as that was.... crying.gif

    Today our status was changed from RFE to the following...

    On January 14, 2010, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

    I assume this means they accepted the RFE for the medical we sent in one week ago and that we are not going to have an interview...

    Civil Surgeon In Milwaukee

    in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

    Hi, does anyone have any experience with a full medical from a civil surgeon in Milwaukee? Just trying to save myself some calling around to check prices. We are thinking once we do biometrics we might just do the full medical again.

    We used Concentra Medical by the airport in Milwaukee

    They do 3+ I-693's a day according to the staff.

    I-693 RFE, what to do?

    November Filer -

    She had a complete medical exam in China and we handed over the sealed paperwork at Chicago's port of entry.

    We had Dr. Arnold transcribe all vaccinations, sent them in and received a "I-693 RFE"

    Now, we are going to have a local CS do the full exam and fill out a new I-693. (9:00 AM tomorrow).

    I hope this works... I wish I could hand carry the sealed package m myself!

    The good news is we are married and in the USA together!

    Good luck everyone on their "I-693 RFE" (fingers crossed) and I pray the New Year will bring happiness to all!

    I-693 RFE, what to do?

    Someone successfully "beat" this RFE by working with their congressman or senator's office - the person who helped them was able to track down their physical A-file (it has the stuff you turned in at POE) or at least get USCIS to track down the physical file, and the medical was then found!

    That might be the cumbersome way to go - lots of calling and follow up, I would imagine. It is faster to just re-do the medical.

    I'm joining the RFE club! We submitted the I-693 completed by a civil surgeon in a sealed envelope and the DS-3025 Vaccination sheet. We also got a RFE today (Merry Christmas) with the same statement regarding the I-693!

    Looks like a do-over I guess!

    Social Security Card name change

    in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

    Question... K-1 Visa couple

    We were married on November 7th in the USA and had to wait for our marriage certificate to go to the Social Security office for the name change (She has a Social Security card with her maiden name on it). It looks like we are in the 15 day window on her visa and they told us she needs to get her Chinese passport updated. Basically, Homeland security has a hold on it because it's less than 15 days before her I-94 expired. What can we do to overcome this issue?

    I finally stopped lurking and signed up. I find VJ is a great resource for F-1 Visa information and filled with helpful and reassuring members.

    We are just starting down the F-1 visa path with the goal of filing our petition before February 1st. While the process appears intimidating and long, we believe this forum will serve as a great tool for support and information.
