no affidavit but they signed a cover letter saying that we live witht hem and their name is on all utility bills.

we got all the bank statements and the ATT statements showing our names and numbers on the family plans. taxes, affidavits, birth certificates, drivers licenses, travel itineries from trip to the uk and my trips here before we married, a receipt for a hotel we stayed in. verything we already sent them previously, 40 photos from before we married, wedding and after wedding. including some family pics =]

send ultrasound. pregnancy is the ultimate evidence of a legit marriage.

send car insurance. ive only had car insurance for 6 months cos ive only had a car for 6 months so send evrything you can... th more you send the less reason they call you for an interview like they did with me.

i have been called to an RFE interview.

i guess its because myself and my husband live with my inlaws and we dont have a mortgage or utilities in our names.

we have already sent them taxes and proof of joint bank account. we dont have a joint credit card.

sent affidavits. mail addressed to both of us, cards, photos.

im kinda freaking out about the interview. im sure its just cos we dont have lease/mortgage or utilities

what else do i need to take to the interview?

i have my jury duty summons

netflix screen shot of billing history and address with both our names as the account holders.

medical cards from when we went on honeymoon to the UK.

ATT statements with our numbers on them (we are on his parents family plan....4 numbers)

Farmers insurance (again we are on a joint plan)

my car registration and title (he isnt on my title nor am i on his because he got the car bfore i go my SSN)

Bank statements for the duration of marriage

copies of drivers licenses with same address on them.

affidavits

mail sent to our address for us both

is there anything else i should take? obviously i am going to take copies of everything ive already sent them.

also my husband recently lost his job and has been going to school and has now finished school and is looking for a job as a massage therapist so we dont have any income coming in right now. i travel to vegas a few times a month to work but we dont really have a good income at all which is why we live with inlaws.

any help would be awesome.

did biometrics in feb? and in april got letter asking for more info to prove we have joint assets.

my husband i i live with his parents so we dont have a lease or anything of this nature. nor do we have utilities as the inlaws pay them.

today i got a letter saying they want us to go to an interview. didnt give us a date yet though. im kinda freaking out cos only 4% get called for an interview and i dont know what to expect. what will they ask us and what do we need to bring additionally?

I have netflix and our bank statement in our names. thats it.

our cell is on inlaws family plan.

our cars are seperate. although we are going to put my car in both our names. even though my car is going to die any day now so kinda pointless to do when it wont be around much longer.

any info would be much apprciated

be careful. the IO's like to see pictures of the wedding and reception and like to see family members in the photos.

My AOS interview was in Sacramento on march 6th.

Got there at 8am

Interview scheduled for 845am

waited for what seemed to be an eternity. then asked someone the time. it was 930am

went to the desk again and told them we have been waiting ages. they told us they would see us asap

940am lady comes running out of the room and calls our name and takes us to the other side of the building and apologises. seems they forgot about us.

she makes us swear to tell the truth.

then goes thru the form we submitted asking me my name address dob POE and then asks us 4 questions from the yes/no amswers on the page

then asks us how we met, when we got engaged, where the wedding was and how many people came to the wedding.

she took cpies of recent pay stubs and my sponsors taxes/pay stubs

then she took 8 photos from my photo album of us at the wedding. a wedding photo of all the family, a photo from before we were married and a handful from the hunnymoon.

then she looked at the medical report and just checked the doctor signed it.

then told us that my green card will be sent to us in about 2 weeks.

she didnt take my i94 or stamp my passport.

yesterday (friday 13th march)

received letter from uscis saying WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. your green card will be posted to you within 3 weeks

i was so worried about the interview and it turned out to be super easy. the IO didnt even ask my husband anything. in and out of the interview room in 10 mins.

im so stoked....im going to get my ssn on monday and off to find a job.

it changes state to state. i know that in the california it was something like 15,000$

mabe check with your local government to see what the poverty level is for your state.

fill out your aos paperwork in your married name if you intend on using it as your name.

and as long as your aos paperwork is sent to uscis (date stamped) before the date of the i94 expiring then you will be ok. I forgot to send a couple of things to them and they just sent a letter to us asking for the missing documents to be sent to them within 60 days.

do not send originals of anything.

send photocopies. because you wont get your originals back.

also photocopy all the forms you complete to keep as your copy. so you have a copy of everything they send you.

they ask because if you are not a resident yet they need to have a non usa address to put as a secondary address on the account.

i had to give them my fathers address in the UK to open my bank account bacause i dont have a SSN yet.

uscis told me that i had to apply for aos and have all paerwork in before i 94 expired.

interview is tomorrow morning.

ive had a look around the forums but i cant seem to find a straight answer.

i do not have an ead yet.

when you get your passort stamped at the end of the interview can you go and apply for your SSN straight away? or do you have to wait for the green card to be sent to you first before applying for a SSN?

i have my interview on thursday and im so worried. I know my marriage is legit but we dont have much in both our names due to living with parents still but we have lots of proof of us being together and letters sent to the house in both our names and a joint bank account.

im hoping that it will be enough.

im so scared. i know how tough some of the interviewrs can be.

you wont be able to get the medical done in time. they do a hiv test and you have to wait a few days for the results back.

you ll also have to have vaccinations done if you havent got proof of vaccinations.

these are expensive.

the hpv vaccination is 150$ on its own. and yoll have to have a TB skin test which takes a couple days to get results also

do NOT use capital one.

they just raised their interest rates dramatically due to the economy being bad. my inlaws have the most amazing credit rate and their credit cards just went from 6% interest to 18%

so beware.

I am in the same boat. We are temporarily living with our in-laws since I cant work till I get an EAD.. I also cant cancel my cell phone service and get on my husband's plan because I have another 12months left on my contract. We too have a bank a/c with both our names on it. I will be interested to know what happens with your case, please keep us updated.

I suppose this is something that might vary from company to company but I've been on my wife's health insurance since the day after we were married. The policy is with Blue Cross Blue Shield, FWIW, and they certainly didn't complain that I don't have an SSN. I'd check that again if I were you.

If you have no intention of driving, can't you get a non-driver ID card (from the DMV, its basically a drivers license without the driving bit - e.g. it's good for state-issued ID purposes).

nope ive looked into it and thru his work i cannot be on his medical insurance without a ssn.

and the dmv will not issue a state id or anything without me having permanent residency.

I'm a US Citizen and filed AOS for my father. I submitted the following forms and fees:

I-130 $355

I-485 $1080 ( $930 + $80 Biometrics + $70 Department of State I-864 Affidavit of Support Filing Fee)

I-765 $0

I just got 3 Denial letters today and can't understand why:

1) I-130 "The check amount is incorrect or has not been provided. The correct filing fee is $355."

2) I-485 "The check amount is incorrect or has not been provided. The correct filing fee is $930. Each applicant between the ages of 14 and 79 must also include an additional $80.00 fingerprint fee."

3) I-765 "The check amount is incorrect or has not been provided. The correct filing fee is $340."

Can anyone see why my filing fee is incorrect? Maybe the $70 Department of State fee for I-864 should be written on a third separate check instead of lumping together with the I-485 check?

I also can't figure out why they are asking $340 for the I-765 when their instructions say there is no fee when filing concurrently with I-485.

Frustrating!!!

the filing fee is one set fee for AOS its $1010

just write one check for that amount when you submit all paperwork together.

can i get a SSN when i get my EAD?

I believe most people ( I did as my attorney asked us to) send their medical in with their original AOS packet. Therefore they go for Biometrics and dont have to have 'slow' the process down to the 'pending' status.

It is suppose to be 60-90 days from the time they receive your AOS packet assuming everything is included.

yah we didnt send in the medical then because the paperwork when we filled out the AOS said that uscis will ask at a later date for a medical. so we didnt fill out the medical then. i wish id known then cos i just want this stupid immigration to be out the way so i can get work permit and work....im so bored not being able to work...
