you have to get a Civil Police certificate (Policia Civil) from each state you live in and a Federal Police certificate (Policia Federal) and that one is covers the entire country. I believe those requests can only be made in person but i'm sure you can request them through the brazilian embassy near you.

I just noticed that after i posted this, Thank you all!

What POE will you be going through? At what time of the day will your plane be arriving?
Washington,DC around 7am
-
Hi everyone, do you think 2 and 1/2 hrs is enough time for me to catch my next flight once i get to my POE? I have two different times either i wait 2 1/2hrs or 6, i just don't want to wait that long if the process once i get to POE is not going to take more than 2 hrs.
Thanks!

in other words, you may lose your brazilian citizership but you don't have to give it up unless the brazilian government comes after you saying you do. my mom's case is the same as yours.

a) de reconhecimento de nacionalidade originária pela lei estrangeira;
a) no caso da alínea (a) transcrita acima - reconhecimento de nacionalidade originária -, "não perde a nacionalidade o brasileiro que teve reconhecida outra nacionalidade por Estado estrangeiro, quando a mesma decorre do direito de sangue (jus sanguinis), sendo originariamente adquirida. Aqui o simples vínculo sanguíneo é que faz surgir a nacionalidade, independente do local de nascimento. É, v.g., o caso da Itália que reconhece aos descendentes de seus nacionais a cidadania italiana. Muitos brasileiros descendentes de italianos vêm obtendo aquela nacionalidade, através do simples processo administrativo. Nesta hipótese, não há aquisição derivada de nacionalidade estrangeira, mas reconhecimento de nacionalidade originária, independente de renúncia ou opção pela nacionalidade anterior. Neste caso, não perderão a nacionalidade brasileira os que se utilizarem de tal benefício";

Hello everyone!
I had a question, since the usc petitioner is my biological mother what type of questions will they ask me at the interview? I know some cases they ask proof of relationship but in my case she's my biological mother so I can't stop trying to guess the questions or if it's going to be a formal interview just to say I had one!
Thanks in advance!

How old are you? They probably will mostly want to check your paperwork and ask a few basic questions about your family and where you have lived. Dont worry and good luck.
I am 21.

That is correct, altough i haven't received mine yet so my mother (agent of choice) sent me (benneficiary) the one she received about a week ago.

I was just curious, why do they take 3 sets of fingerprints? one at the embassy, another at POE and then they take you to a different room and take another one.

Hi everyone, quick question. On the day of my interview should i be happy if i get a pink slip at the end? I read a bunch of people saying they got a pink slip and them the visa couple days later.
-
I'm really happy as i just received an e-mail from the consulate saying that my interview has been scheduled but at the end of her e-mail she reminded me to bring all necessary documents and i sent her a reply saying that all my original documents (in exception of my passport) were requested and sent to NVC and they sent them to the consulate. She then replied me back giving me a link to the consulate's website with all necessary documents, i know i need to bring with me my medical exam and my passport other than that i have no idea since everythingelse i can think of they should have it. So my question is, is there a possibility that they might missplace my documents or will have me bring additional ones?
Thanks!

If an interview is scheduled, can you call the embassy to see if they can get a earlier date like a week prior to the original scheduled date? I just wanted to try to surprise my mom and maybe get there (USA) sooner since her husband is the one buying the plane ticket so she won't know.
Thanks in advance!

If the police certificates are italian and the embassy from where you're applying the visa is in italy then nothing needs to be translated. Only documents with languages other than english/italian need to be translated. I know it because i sent all my paperwork to my mother so she could send it to NVC and they said that i didn't have to translate them from portuguese to english since i'm applying at the embassy in Rio de Janeiro-Brazil.

they don't have a "IR-2" option so i just chose "Other" for my type of process.

How long is the required medical exam good for? Can you do it before you get instructed by NVC/Embassy?
Thanks!

So i had a question, my case was sent to Rio de Janeiro embassy on the 8th of January so does that mean my interview has been scheduled and i'll receive a letter with the date? and by the way my mom checked the NVC's automated voice response for my case and called me right away so I'm REALLY happy!!!!
-
Ok, my case was completed on Dec. 9 (IR-2 unmarried child of usc) at NVC and i have not received anything yet. What are the chances of getting my interview scheduled before mid Feb. and why is this taking so long??????
Thanks in advance!
Ps: Rio de Janeiro embassy is where i'll be interviewed.

I'm not sure of the exact time for Brazil.. some consulates take much longer (like mine, Guangzhou China takes about 4 months).. don't worry though.. that shouldn't be your time.. usually about a month's time I think.. Also, you can check other people from Brazil on Visajourney and see their timeline..
ok, i hope it doesn't take that long. thanks!

I am freaking out, it's been 2 weeks since my case was complete at NVC but i have not received anything yet. Do you guys know how long it takes for them to send me a interview letter or something and how long it takes for the paperwork to arrive at the embassy?
Thanks

if you mentioned in your application then i would get it just in case but if you haven't then i wouldn't worry about it especially if you didn't commit any crimes here!
