Hi,

I am canadian and just got my green card in the USA, and changed my last name to my husband's. Now i'm wondering how to change my bank account, student loans, passport, etc. If anyone out there has done it already, could you please let me know what and how you did it. It would make my life a tad easier.

Hi Everyone!

I just got my AOS interview letter today. The date for the interview is October 7th, and my husband, the petitioner is required to be there. The problem is that he is currently deployed in Afghanistan and is not scheduled to return until January 2010 at the latest.

I am going to call the USCIS on Monday to see what they say, but was wondering if any here has dealt with this issue?

I have his hard copy orders that state he is gone.

What do you think?

I had my interview today and got approved. I had called the USCIS as soon as I got the interview letter to tell them my husband is deployed and can't be at the interview. They sent a 'service request' to reschedule my interview to my local office. I got a letter from USCIS telling me that the local office will handle the situation. I went to the interview with my husbands duty orders, and they were totally ok with that. I do recommend a person in my situation to call USCIS ahead of time so that the local office will know what's going on. The interview took about 10 minutes, and all went well.

So if anyone is in the situation i was in, then that's what happened to me. Good luck!

I got a medical done in March for my K-1 Visa. I already sent in my I-485 application to adjust status, everything going smooth so far, got biometrics done, etc. As i'm looking at my Notice of Interview letter, it states many things to bring, and one of them is

'a completed medical examination(Form I-693) and vaccination supplement is a sealed envelope(unless already submitted)'

....when i sent in my AOS package I just sent a copy of the vaccination paper I got from my medical in March, in Canada. It looks exactly like the vaccine supplement page of the Form I-693. I never got an RFE after they received the AOS package, all is well there...so what does this mean? Am i meant to go see a Civil Surgeon here or bring another copy of my vaccination paper?Anyone deal with this?

Ya i wrote that in a confusing way, by 'originals' i had meant the original papers i received in the packet 3, not the stuff i'll bring to the interview. I sent in the ds230, checklist to the consulate and did the ds160 online form. My medical is tomorrow, well in about a few hours from now since i should be in bed and not reading VJ, but this site is addictive since it's very helpful!

Ya, 50 bucks for FEDEX seems pricey as well. I'm sticking around Toronto to pick up the results instead. I'm lucky my brother lives there...he's my hotel everytime I go!

I guess I'll bring the originals and once they see them, then i'll mail them to Montreal. The only things in the packet 3 regarding the medical was the blurb on the checklist, the page with the list of approved panel physicians and the list of vaccinations needed. No actual 'medical forms'

Can't wait to get the interview date. At least i'll see Montreal in good weather, eventually.

Same here, medical in Toronto but on March 24th.

The letter is the one that has the Case #. I'm going to bring the first page that says "the office is pleased ..." and the checklist with the cash # handwritten.

$275 dollars... Still can't believe it...

I can't believe the price either! I read that it was much less not so long ago. Also, I'm from Windsor, and it wasn't too long ago that medicals were done here as well. I guess i'm a little late for the good stuff.lol

I got the packet. Just not sure which papers to bring, and wondered what others have done. Copies or originals? Sending checklist back now or do i have to bring that to the interview?

I have my medical appointment on Monday March 22nd, in Toronto. I have to bring 3 passport photos, passport, cash, and the appointment letter. Which paper from the packet 3 is the appointment letter? The first page or the checklist? I would like to send in the checklist before I go to the medical to speed up the interview process...so is it alright to show the medical people copies? Or must I have the originals? Confused!

I know this should be in the Canada K-1 visa portal, however i suck with using this site, and couldnt figure out how to post it there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I got my packet 3 from Montreal and it says to send in the checklist once everything is completed, but did anyone send in their checklist even though the medical wasn't done yet? I'm just wondering since i've noticed some people have their medical after they've sent in their packet 3(according to their timelines).

I'll have no problem getting my remainder documents done, i was just hoping i could send in the checklist now so that the interview will come a bit quicker. Any advice?

This may be an silly question, but I have a nervous bladder at times and was wondering if there are washrooms in the waiting rooms during the processing for the k1 visa at the Montreal consulate? While reading through people's personal stories of their K1 interview, i saw that in vancouver there wasnt a washroom...freaked me out since waiting for hours and being nervous would not be fun!

Well i was happy a minute ago, but then just saw these 2 different directions, so now I'm confused again!

Per the USCIS, documents not in English must be translated. The policy states as follows:

"All documents that are in a language other than English must be submitted with a translation. The person translating the document must certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that he/she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English."

All translations must include a statement similar to the following:

Certification by Translator:

I typed name , certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and

languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the

document attached entitled .

The Second Direction from the Montreal Consulate, where I'll be heading to for the interview:

All documents not in English must be accompanied by certified translations into English. Translations must be certified by a competent translator and sworn to by him before a Notary.

Which one do I go by? Has anyone delt with this confusion.lol.

I am hoping for some clarity! I am a Canadian currently finishing up my work here in Korea, and getting my packet 3 info ready. I'm about to get a Korea Criminal Record Check done, but I was told the document wouldnt be in English.

I know i'll have to get it translated, and my Korean-American friend here is happy to do it. My question is, after he translates it, does he just have to write something like 'i _____ certify that i am fluent in both english and korean and that this document is true', etc. With address, signature, etc.

Would that be enough for the K1 guidelines...or am I going to have to find an actual lawyer here to notarize the translation afterwards?

The answer I got via email from the Montreal Consulate was this: "Good Morning , Whomever translates this document must certify that it is true and correct."

I'm unclear what they mean by 'certify'. Does any here have any expertise in this area...i would be sooooo appreciative!

Hi, I'm an October filer, and just got my NOA2 yesterday. Total of 104 days from the NOA1. I haven't been chatting on this forum, but reading alot of what you guys have written and it's been helpful during the wait period.

I just wanted to say that I was expecting the NOA2 to take months longer than what it has, and so I hope it comes just as quickly for the rest of you who are still waiting. Perhaps January is the month for OCtober filers!!!
