Hello guys and gal's
I received notice for my 2 step children to create a contact with the NVC.
My question are:
1. It states for applicant to sign the form. How is this possible when they are minors and currently in the Philippines?
2. Which address should I send the form to. It only says where not to send the form. I live in the New Orleans la. Area.
I need all the help I can get.
Thank you in advance

October 25 I mailed a single packet with two I-130's all requested document for each application along with two checks. One for each application. These are for my wife's children. Since then I have only received one MSC receipt number and the USICS has only cashed one check.
Is this normal or is something abnormal ??
Thanks
-
Its better if the USC spouse is filing I-130 for the kids. That's what we did with my 2kids.
thanks for your reply.
I am the USC and i will file for my wifes children as a step parent.
I will use the I-130 to obtain CR2 visas for the children.
Am I correct?

Yes, separate for each child, separate fees and bio forms etc. You can send it in the same envelope though.
thank you
have a great day
-
Assuming the kids are minors (under 18 when you married), you filing as step dad will be much quicker- about 9 months.
Yes the kids are both very young.
the only other question i would have is, is it necessary to file an I-130 for each child individually??
my wife has two daughters.
thanks again

hello to all
my wife and i have been married for over a year. she entered the US on a K-1 visa.
the follow to join benefits have expired for us.
my question is in regards to filing for my wifes children.
what is the best way to file the I-130 for their CR2 visas?
1. file as a US citizen and as a step parent to the children?
2. let my wife file as a LPR?
all of your replies will be helpful
thanks

hello
my wife is returning to the phils for the first time since obtaining her lpr.
the concern is that her passport still has her original name prior to marriage.
will there be a problem returning to the US with a passport and green card with
two different last names??
thanks

hello to everyone
wow my wifes gc arrived today in the mail.
thanks to everyone who has helped us with the process.
im sorry for some of the dumb questions i asked. Haha
oh and we didnt have and interview.
sweet

If you got transferred to CSC and your green card is in production then you won't have an interview.
Wow great news.
Now we can start on getting her children here soon.
-
I am happy to see that there are several people here with good news other than myself.
Sept. 14th was a busy day for the USCIS
Our green Card is in production.
We have no schedule for interview.
Will we have an Interview at all????
kirk

Good day!
I think uscis is playing prank on me..just yesterday Sept.14 i saw my I-485 application that it was on Card Production..and then after few hours the status went to DECISION and it says """ On September 14, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.""""
Is this normal? Does this mean they mailed my Green Card already??
Oh gosh i need enlightenment!!
:help:
Thanks so much!
Same thing here with us, however it did not flip flop like yours did. i just checked and its still on card production.
Still no interview date set. Will we have an interview????
thanks

We did follow to join in Thailand. For us, we simply sent in packet 3 to the embassy for the children and had their interviews scheduled within a few weeks after that.
Here's the link to the US Embassy in Manila with instructions:
http://manila.usemba...ow-to-join.html
Looks like once the immigrant has adjusted status, you start at the NVC. Prior to that you start at the embassy.
thank you for your prompt reply. can you better explain which forms are need for the packet three?

hello fellow UJ'ers
i recently got the old run around from the USCIS and NVS.
My questions in regards to Follow to join benefits.
i will copy and paste my email that i sent to both offices.
Hello
My wife entered the US on a K-1 visa after our I-129F was approved. She entered on March 2, 2011.
We are now 3 months into the process of adjustment of status.
She has recently received her EAD and AP.
We left her two minor children in the Philippines.
They were both listed on the I-129F petition that was approved.
As I understand we have one year to use the “follow to join benefits” for her children.
When does that time start?
From the time she received her K-1 Visa?
From the time she entered the US?
Or from the time she is considered a legal permanent resident?
Please list in detail what forms we would need to submit along with a list of evidence we would need to produce.
Finally can both children be listed on the same petition or forms?? Or should they each have their own form filed individually.
Thank You
any information i can get from this forum will be appreciated.
thanks i advance

dude
you are in for a rude awakening once she gets here.
believe me, i have showered my wife with all that i can give and up until recently she still threatens to go home and never come back.
y??? you may ask, well thats just her reaction when she is homesick or she simply doesnt understand something that is going on around her. 6 months in now and things are becoming much better.
man you better have a great abundance of patience and understanding.
oh and dont spoil her, it will only make it worse.
i spoiled my wife and its hard to reverse that.
good luck
wow im sorry i posted what i did above. you sound like a cheap ####. you want her to pay for a plane ticket?? thats ridiculous.
the girl you are in love with is poor by our standards. how can you ask her to buy a plane ticket?? thats just dumb.
if you cant afford it then you never should have started this process.
i think i see why she is worried. she will be coming to the US and into the same situation she was before.
you should have picked a wife that could have just walked across the border to save you money.
-
I hate to say it but sometimes it seems like she's not happy about coming here and I can't let her come here if that's how she feels, but anytime I bring it up, it's the same excuse, "she says I should think about what she's giving up to move to the US and that should answer my question"

hello
i have only two questions.
1. since when does the island of Mindinao get hit by typhoons or cyclonic storms????
(been going there for 5 years and everyone tells me there is no record of the island
ever being hit by these)ok torrential down pours and extremely foul weather, yes, Typhoons??? No
2. why is your timeline post dated?? i know you are anxious just like i was for my new wife to arrive but
putting the cart before the horse is a little dangerous in my opinion. remember you are dealing with a
large bureaucratic entity. anything can happen.
good luck

My fiance and kids are here with me. According to the recommended timeline of events, the non US Citizen should 1. Seek the social security number first. 2. Get married. 3. Go back and change the name at the Social Security Administration
Why this sequence? What does it achieve in the strive to complete the AOS? We visited the Social Security office and applied for a card 4 days after her arrival. The staff member stated that the computer would automatically search the Dept Of Homeland Security database for her entry in another 10 days. The application would then be submitted. They knew of the Fiance process before I mentioned it during the visit. The marriage will take place next week. We can't wait. I love my family. I was sick and tired of being alone. I am so at peace now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have no idea why that is the process. we just change the name on my wifes ssn yesterday.
keep in mind before you can change the name on your wifes ssn you must have two forms of I.D.
one with the maiden name and one with the married name. (i am just telling you what my experience was with the local SSA)
nope it doesnt make sense to me either. dont forget to bring a notarized copy of you marriage certificate. it is necessary.
we have been run through the ringer with this name change thing on the ssn.

hello to all
this is for folks that will use the New Orleans Field Office.
yesterday was our bio appt. it was scheduled for 9 am
but with traffic we arrived 30 minutes late.
however it still only took about 30 to 45 mins.
all was complete. painless.
hopefully i can tell you the same when its time for our AOS meeting.
enjoy your day
-
hello everyone
the new orleans la. field office does not allow walk ins for bio-metrics.
we went there on friday and was refused.
just some info for anyone in or near new orleans.
thanks
-
I found out that you can do a walk in biometrics, however it is based upon the work load of that particular office at that time.
if they can get to you at that time they will do so, if they are too busy then you will have to come back.
