  1. Thanks for the advise!

    Hi Old Dominion,

Thanks for your reply. I am eligible for unemployment benefits. I am wondering will there be any minimum period I am with my current job for them to approval my financial? I just don't want to be disqualify because they found out I did claim for unemployment within some time frame that could affect the K1 for my fiance. How does it work when they ask for my financial background and what exactly do I have to provide?

    Thanks.

The consulate is concerned with pattern of income, a period of un-employment may cause an issue. Again I would have a co-sponsor.

    Hi all,

I've recently being lay off from my job and in process of applying unemployment benefits right now. I have applied for I129F K1 here for my fiance(in China) since June and already received Notice of action and waiting for further instructions. The current Processing Dates on my case is on March 07, 2008 from http://www.uscis.gov. Does anyone know will my unemployment status affect the qualification for K1? I am actively looking for jobs at the moment and I hope to find one asap. Does anyone know that if I should or should not be applying for unemployment that it might affect the qualification for K1? Eventhough only for temporary? Appreciate for any helps.

If you are eligible for unemployment benefits, by all means take them. You have time yet before your fiance needs your financials for the interview.
