hey everybody,
my wife came over on a k1 fiance visa almost 4 years ago and shortly after that received her permanent resident (green) card. last month she lost it and we're kind've freaking out. i know we have to fill out the i-90, pay the fee and give certain documents. it is the documents that i am worried about. all we have is her UK passport and her USA social security card. we have the original of the conditional permanent resident card she had before we got her current 10-year one but that is expired. there is no copy of her active green card. we also have her expired k1 visa that is installed into her UK passport.
what can we do?
thanks guys!

hello all,
ive been searching the internet for information about my wife (uk citizen, came here to the usa on a k1 visa) and i (usa citizen) obtaining a uk spouse visa so that we can live and work in the uk together and have a few questions i cant seem to answer. maybe someone here can help us out.
we just got married in the usa and are applying for AOS but in 3 years we want to live and work together in the uk. my concern is the financial requirements. obviously she doesnt have a job in the uk because she is here with me in the usa. im making $20,000 a year and she is making $14,000 and we will have around $20-30,000 in savings by then. we could live with her parents in the uk if we had to.
can anyone let us know if this will be good enough for us to be able to live in the uk together? the only path i see if the traditional way when the uk citizen has been living and working in the uk the whole time.
thanks guys.

since they have your AOS packet before the 90 days, you are fine. i believe your status is still K1 visa holder until you receive AOS.
-
thank you. sorry about not checking out the sample forms. i was oblivious to them

hey friends. its been a while. were just putting together our AOS packet now and have a few questions. im sure we will have a few more before we are done.
on the i-485, what would ellie's (my wife, the beneficiary) USCIS status be? she came into the states on the K1 visa and we just got married last week. also, we're not sure what the expiration date on that status is. is it the expiration date listed on her visa that was inserted into her passport (may 20 2010) or 90 days from when she entered the usa (march 5 2010)?
also, do we have a nonimmigrant visa number? is that the control number on her visa?
thanks again guys. =)

okie so i will send the 06, 07 and 08 tax transcripts and w2s for me and the joint sponsor plus my 09 w2. thanks again.
-
thanks pushbrk
i already have the 06, 07 and 08 tax transcripts and w2s. so is this good or should i include the 09 w2 as well? i have my w2 from 09 but my cosponsor does not. both of us wont be filing our taxes for another month so we wont be sending 09 tax transcripts.

hello again,
my now wife arrived in JFK as her POE and they stamped her so that she can work. this expires in 1 year. my question is, do we need to send in any forms or will she just be granted permanent working ability after her AOS is accepted? i see that on the visajourney AOS information link (http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-aos.html), it tells you to send in a form for employment authorization but it is only for temporary authorization. im just a bit confused and appreciate any information.
thanks.

hello friends,
im having a bit of trouble finding the information i need on the internet. im wondering if we can use the same documents to show proof of support for the AOS part that we did for the K1 visa. im unemployed so i dont have any new paystubs or anything and my father, the cosponsor, is living off a retirement pension so there isnt anything new to show there. my main concern was about the tax transcripts. if we send out for AOS packet in the next 3 weeks, are the 2009, 2008 and 2007 tax transcripts and w2s still ok? we dont need the 2010 ones, correct? im just not sure when the date changes so that you would need the 2010 ones.
thanks guys.

oh ok, got it. thanks muffin. so ellie will get the white i-94 and the customs form from the airline staff to fill out then she will get on the visitors line when arriving in new york (unless otherwise notified).
cheers!
-
or do we only need the white i-94 form that has writing on the front and back? sorry haha, i know this is a stupid question but i just want to make sure we are 100% prepared and on top of this.
-
hello gang,
ellie will be coming into the states this saturday at jfk, ny (december 5th) and im soo excited! i know she needs to get that i-94 form and fill it out for customs and also we need a copy of it for the AOS. she can ask the flight staff while she is on her flight going to ny for this form, correct? also, is this the form she needs i94 ? <-- click the link
she needs the one that has the white and green parts, correct?
another question: when she gets into the airport in newyork which line does she need to get on for customs? i forget the names but there is like the one for US citizens (and visa holders maybe?) and then another line for those with foreign passports? sorry, were not too clear on this and figured some of you could clear this up for us.
thanks for all your help again guys.
-
haha that is so exciting. congrats! we should have ours next week.
-
Thank you for letting us know that...this part for me not knowing if they got it, if it has been lost, or if we need to send it again...is driving me nuts! It makes me feel better to know that we are not alone...
I wanted to ask???When you went to the interview and paid for the postage to get your visa mailed back to you, do you get any kind of tracking number? I was just curious..
we didn't but i think most people do from what ive read. the reason we didnt is because ellie didnt have her medical exam before her interview so she was approved pending medical results.
also, they take your cellphone# so that they can text message you when the courier service is about to deliver your visa.
-
dont worry guys. it took nearly 5 weeks for dos to show that the embassy had received our packet3 forms and then another 2 weeks for us to get out interview date. sit tight my friends, its coming.
-
im jack (male) the petitioner and my fiance ellie the beneficiary (female) is in scotland. so i guess im a bit of an exception round here. but yea, she has never come around here. im going to have her do a writeup for the interview tho.
-
you dont need a special courier service. the next day signed for is what we used and was fine. just dont expect dos to be able to tell you that the embassy got it for a bit. we mailed ours next day on august 26th and dos didnt have it in their system until september 30th even tho it was signed for on august 27th.
So is it better to send courier, will it be logged quicker?
im not sure really. normally i would think it doesnt matter but because of the postal strike, maybe a courier service would be quicker.

yea, id like to know how you found out as well. also, ellie had her medical the day after her interview (oct23). does anyone know if there is a way for us to find out her medical results? im thinking maybe we can just call knightsbridge in a few days or something.
-
you wont have to pay that until the day of the interview at the window there. we used ellie's debit card.
-
approved pending medical results
ellies medical is tomorrow 1030am
-
nevermind. i found a place in glasgow that ellie can go and have US passport style photos done.
in case any one needs,
Places in England & Wales that make US style passports photos
-
ellie was just going to go to boots and have passport photos made for her interview in london but do they need to be a different size than what boots would give her because UK and US have different specifications?
thanks
