  1. Hello Everyone,

My wife and I recently received a request for additional evidence regarding supporting evidence of assets that meet the poverty line or joint sponsorship. USCIS states that my income did not meet 125% of the federal poverty line for the petitioner's/sponsors household size. I own my own business and as everyone is well aware of the economy has been in a freefall, meaning business has been up and down the last two years. However I do have assets, in the form of my house which I purchased in December of 1997( before the market went crazy) and have been paying my mortgage on time since then. There should be a sizeable amount of equity since I never took out loans or refinanced to access any cash. USCIS has requested evidence of ownership and value of any real estate and dates acquired. If I submit proof of this as well as its current market value, will this be sufficient to satisfy their inquiry/requirement or should I also obtain joint sponsorship from her family as well as mine? Also, they are asking that I submit ALL information requested at ONE TIME. Does this mean that I cannot submit the proof of ownership and market value to see if that would satisfy the requirement and if not follow up with the joint sponsorship from both our families? What are the documents needed in terms of "obtaining joint sponsorship". Would an MLS suffice in terms of showing market value on the property or would I need to go out and hire an appraiser?

Thank you for any assistance or advice you may provide regarding this matter.

i got the same RFE like yours, my husband is a military and now he's studying using his G.I bill and workin in the VA, as a VA worker, he has only the minimum monthly pay, his job is tax free thats why, in his income tax, it didnt show that he meet the minimum poverty guideline,... i submitted all the evidence but then, i received the RFE, an evidence of my husband's income... i gathered everything just to prove, but to make it sure, I asked my mom in law to be my joint sponsor, and after 3 days i got an approval in email.... Thanks God, so just to be safe, I advice that you'll just use joint sponsor like what i did.

Thank you so much for your response.

  3. Hello Everyone.. My I-94 (k1) is expiring this July 23, do i need to renew this? how? Because when i went to DMV they did not

allow me to get a DL. They told me that i need my I-94 to be current or at least 2 months before the expiration.

I already sent my AOS July 3 and received NOA1 yesterday. What will i do to get a Driver's License here in CA? Also, what

will be my status then when my I-94 expired? Am I still legal to stay here?? Please help I am confused...

As long as you have proof that you applied for AOS then you are good. You just have to wait for your green card or EAD before you get your DL since they did not accept ur I-94..and no u dont have to renew it just let it expire..you are legal alien here once you have the proof of your AOS.

Thank you so much for your reply. :)

  5. Hi Everyone, Please help me to answer the questions for EAD...

#16 - Go to Part 2 of the Instructions. (I don't see the Part 2) Eligibility categories. In the space below, place the letter and number of the category you selected from the instructions.

#17 - If you entered the eligibility category, © (3) © in item 16 above, list your degree, your employer's name as listed in E-verify ( I don't have an employer yet. )

    I don't know how to answer 16 & 17, should i leave it blank??

    Thanks..

  6. thanks so much for your reply... i have one more question... Do i need to include the DS 3025?
You need to get that transferred to an I-693 by a US civil surgeon, and send the I-693 in with I-485.

Start with the pinned post at the top of this forum.

I have already completed all medical examinations in Philippines except for the vaccinations, because the remaining shots will be given

here (U.S) . Do i still need to transferred the 3025 to I-693?

  7. Hi everyone, I need help..I have few questions about filing AOS...

    1. Do i need to include photos in the AOS packet? As in photos together? No.

    2. What is Alien Registration number. Is the MNL ### ? No - this is your Alien Registration number - found on your original NOA2, on your Visa/in your passport - starts with "A"

    3. In forms I-485 and G-325A, is it the non-US Citizen or US Citizen who will fill up? Non US citizen

    4. Do we need to include evidence for common residence? You're adjusting from a K1 so no - just the marriage certificate.

    Thanks..

Follow the Guide - it has a step-by-step guide - explains everything in detail and tells you which forms to us.

  8. You will need something in your married name like your EAD or Green Card to change your name on teh social security card. At least that is what they told us

hi everyone, i just want to ask if it is necessary to change your single name to married name in your SS card? NOT necessary to change your single name in your SS card.

what if you keep your single name? what would be the effect? I don't see any effect on it. It's really up to you.

I'm planning to get an SSN before i get married, is that ok? or do i need to be married first before i apply?? Some prefer to have their SSN after getting married for you to use your married name. Unfortunately, it didn't worked for me since my SS card was issued with my single name since I'm on K1. Now, all I have to do is present my GC for my maiden name to be changed to my married name.

    thanks..

    Good Luck!

What if i just keep my single name after i got married? So i don't have to change my name in all my documents or i really need to use my husband's name??

  9. I applied for my AOS in Dec, 2008 and am going to apply for a teaching program in a university, CA.

However, I don't have SSN and am confused where and how to apply for it.

Can someone help me with it? It is urgent because the dead line is next week. Help!!!!!!!!!

    vjinghu

You can apply at your local SS office. IF you will change your name with marriage (or have) and do not have your green card yet, then apply for the SS card in your MAIDEN name (exactly as on your passport) after you receive your green card you can go back and change the name. If you try to change your name before receiving the green card your SSN will be delayed for weeks. With normal processing, you can call the SS office the next day and get your number, but it will be a week for the card to arrive.

hi.. i just want to ask if changing name to (marriage name) is necessary? what if i just keep my name? what would be the effect?

  11. hello everyone, my fiance is coming soon , I just want to know if i could bring my fiance for my interview?

Are they going to allow him to enter the USEM? Anyone here brought their fiance during interview?

    Thanks.

USEM allows fiances into the interview the majority of the time.

Excellent to have him/her there regardless if they do or not as it shows additional evidence of having a bona fide relationship!

Have him ask the CO if you guys can pick up the visa naman. Works some of the time!

Filipino Prescreeners tend to show more respect for puti also.

Thanks... btw, he is not puti :), he is a filipino (american citizen)

  12. hello,

my husband sent his I-864 and proofs to NVC but he didnt send me a copy. Am I getting a copy from the US embassy? or do I need to have my own copy when I go there for the interview? thanks :)

You will not receive copies of anything already submitted from the USEM. They probably won't show the forms, or evidence, unless the Consular thinks you could clarify the information your husband provided. If possible, have your husband make copies of what he sent so that you can see what information the Consular already has. Many of the questions the Consular will ask will be based on the information already submitted, i.e., "What is his father's first name? Does he have any brothers and sisters? Who does he work for?"

Thank you guys for all your replies..

  13. We got NOA2 approval last Jan. 8, 2009 and my fiance received the approval notice

today thru snail mail. I'm just wondering when do we expect to receive the hard copy?

    Thanks..

The approval notice your fiance received IS the hard copy...

oh i see.. :bonk: i'm thinking of the evidences he included are the hard copy, that is why i'm expecting

that it will be returned to us.

What else to come soon aside from the hard copy?

    Thanks..
