Received my 10 years GC on yesterday on 11/19, my a little journey has ended, don't know if I want to do citizenship though.

I checked my case status online and it still says its in the review process...but it says it hasn't been updated since 7/21... shouldn't they have updated it after the biometrics? Or is the website just classically outdated?

My case status was not updated since the day they received my file, all the way to yesterday when they approved it.

Just got an e-mail from USCIS of "Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production". Woohoo! Finally! This has been a loooooong journey y'all. Google Doc has been updated with approval notice. Thanks all at Visajourney for your great help. Glad I filed the i-751 on my own instead of paying some entry-level secretary at an attorney's office to do a worse job than someone properly informed through these great forums.

Doing an early bio does not update anything online for the case. They will connect the bio to your case in due time. You have to wait.

Early bio sometimes helps to speed up the process, sometimes---Case by case... People who go do bio on scheduled date, their case is not updating as well.

Oh boy, I have been checking our status online as well and I see nothing but the last update which was on the 20th. I had my early walk in bio done on July 25 and nothing has changed since.

So frustrating...

No need to be frustrated, it will be a long process. Take a look at April/May/June filers, most of them are still waiting......

i have seen that in the previous case doing walk inn or early bio does not speed up the case so its best to stick to the appointment

it is really a case by case thing, I have seen lot of speedups before.

Just done with my biometric today, no problem with walk in.

In and out 30 minutes.

Just got my biometric appointment letter today, was wondering if I can go the USCIS support center close to my work rather than the one on the letter.

Just receive the bio appointment letter, date is 8/23/2011. Try to do early walk in in next week.

THanks for the advice this time, when you originally said no one will permit me because the guy had written 7/19/11 on my biometrics appointment, I was a bit more anxious. Good thing that wasn't the case.

Have done it now, and basically took me about 15 minutes in and out yesterday after 2pm.

Ok, so are you saying if I go on the 19th, I still have the chances of having my application cancelled?

I did not know that early bio walks were usually done btw 2-4 in the afternoon, had I known this I definitely would have gone at this time.

I also dont think that because he wrote that on my application that this would mean i definitely cannot go in before that day. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Try make another attempt in the afternoons when there are less people.

Alirght, here goes my attempt at doing an early biometrics appointment story and questions:

My biometrics date is 8/12/11 and I am scheduled to be in Florida 8/8/11-8/18/11 (already paid for family trip). I decided to try my luck at going in for an early walk in appt yesterday morning. I get to the location at 7am even though the office opens at 8am, thinking that at least if I'm first in line, the ACS officers might be kinder and give me the opportunity to walk in.

Once the doors opened at 8am and although I was the first in line, the guard was only interested in letting people in that had 8am appts on 7/22/11 (yesterday) in and I was told to wait on a seperate line outside. After about 15 minutes I made an attempt to speak to the guard and explain my situation. He told me to hold on and he would get the supervisor for me. I was called in by the supervisor about 2 minutes later who explained to me that he would be unable to have me complete a walk in appt yesterday because he had well over 400 applicants for the day and even though he usually only allows walk ins after 2pm he can guarantee me that it would be impossible yesterday. He then asked to see my appointment letter, and asked me when I was due to return to NY, I told him 8/18/11. He checked the calendar in front of him and wrote in pen on my appt letter 8/19/11 and signed it with his name and signature. He told me I should come in that day at 8am and if I'm the first in line, I would be the first to be served considering I was first in line yesterday.I guess the worried look on my face gave off the fact that I was completely scared that since my original biometrics date is 8/12/11 and on the appt letter it says if you miss your biometrics appt then they will cancel your application entirely, he proceeded to say this:

" Ok I can see you are worried because the appt letter says your application will be cancelled if you miss your scheduled bio appt date. This is not really the case because in actuality you have 87 days from the appointment date to get your biometrics done. That notice was put in the letters because in the past people would never honor their scheduled dates so that notice was included to deter people from missing their dates. Your application is absolutely not going to be cancelled, and since I have given you the date of 8/19/11, just come in that morning and you'll be fine."

I left soon after and returned to work.

Now to my questions/concerns/dilemna/neurosis:

1. Would it be wise for me to believe this supervisor?

2. Has anyone heard about the 87 day thing he was talking about?

3. I noticed that on the biometrics appt letter, they indicate that if you are unable to make your appt, you should send the request back to the location of your biometrics appt (which is where I spoke to the supervisor yesterday) and they would reschedule you. Not that you are to send it to Vermont Service center.

It just makes me wonder if it makes the supervisor more legit.

4. I've been contemplating that once i get to florida on the 8th, that I would fly back to NY on the night of the 11th, and go back to fl the night of the 12th (after my originally scheduled appt), it's gonna be pretty darn expensive...urghh...

What do you guys think??

I'm just trying to weigh all my options here. Should I just wait till I get back from FL and go in on the new date he wrote of the 19th? Should I try another day and time to walk in again? ( I came into work later on friday, so I have to take time off again in order to do this).

I really dont want to be miserable in FL with the family because I'm such a worry bug.

I think to be the first one in line was your mistake. Always do early bio walkin in the afternoons between 2-4. Secondly, you should not let them write down 8/19, instead, try come back 1-2 days later in the afternoon. Now since you have 8/19 on there, no one can permit u in before that.

I have a question here.

After 10-yrs GC expires, I know you need to renew for another 10 yrs, however someone told me that after 20 yrs in total, you need to either become a USC or give up your GC. is it true?

Added biometrics appointment date so over the moon that they remember me this time. we had to prompt them for aos as it got beyond 30 days. We are hoping to get it done early though just so we can help them speed up the process if at all possible as we want to move soon and I'd rather have the green card approved and printed before we move than having to file change of address in the middle of adjudication..that is assuming our officer is a speedy one and gets to it beofre our biometrics date. if we are allowed to do an early walk in I'll update it here.

LOL! I've seen people walked in for an early bio... some of them were succesful and some weren't due to a busy (that) day.?

I'd say, give it a shot... I am thinking the same thing. Why not!

I did early bio two years ago when I filed the I-485. It all depends on the door/security guy, if he signs you in, you are in. By doing early bio, it does speed up your process.

My check just got cashed by CSC. Waiting on NOA.

Date of I-751 = sent date. So for you, 7/12 is correct date Or did you send package on 7/15?

Just one quick question, please...

I signed up at USCIS website to check my status online and, I want to add my case to my portfolio but, everytime I attempt to add it, I'd always get this "error" message that says; my case doesn't exist.?

Why is that? The receipt number is entered correctly.

I'm confused.
