  1. I have a question, I'm not sure if anyone will be able to answer...

I have my visa interview in Montreal this coming Wednesday. I had an appointment yesterday at the U.S Consulate in Toronto in regards to my son's Consular Report of Birth Abroad. There was some information missing so we were not able to apply for it yesterday.

I'm wondering if my son not having his CRBA , or at least not having any paperwork in process, will have an effect on my visa?

  2. Haha, sorry for leaving you in Canada :P I'm doing good! It's nice to finally be back in the USA! Got my green card last week, just waiting on my SSN now which I had to apply for in person on Friday.

And the email you got means CC! Most people get the SIF first. Are you checking on the right site? https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx If you don't get SIF, it's not a big deal. The CC email is what counts ;) Plus, the AVR should update to reflect a CC as well.

Either in a few days or a few weeks, you'll find out your interview date. Good luck!

Super Saylin to the rescue!! Of course I was looking at the wrong site. :bonk: Poor me. I clicked on the link you posted and sure enough "Sign in Failed"! That makes me feel a little giddy!

I was just checking out your blog and you are the greatest! Your folder for your interview was awesome, I may have to copy that!! lol.

We should have a reunion every few years on this sight...Visa Journey Class of 2011 (the to hell and back clan)..

  3. I'm still here alive and kicking....

Val and Gary...I will say a prayer that all goes well, I'm sure things will go great and you guys will be together in no time!

Saylin! You left me here in Canada!! lol. How are you??? How does it feel to be on the other side of this process?

I got 2 RFEs within the past few months. I finally got this email a little while ago..

All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview

    Regards,

    NVC Document Review Team

    National Visa Center

    SERCO Inc.

    NVCElectronic@state.gov

Follow criteria as outlined on http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4409.html

Thank God no more RFEs, I would of just had a breakdown. Does this email mean an SIF will follow soon?

I just want this to be over with. October (the month I plan to move) is so far away, yet I know it will come fast with all the things I have to do take care of before leaving, including our son's American Consular Report of Birth Abroad papers, that we still have yet to do (long story as to why it hasn't been done yet).

I wish everyone the best, it has definitely been a journey!

  4. Woke up to another RFE. Hooray!!! ........NOT! :bonk:

*sigh* I don't have much else to say. I'm just annoyed right now. I guess if I was in a rush to leave then this would be really really upsetting, but I'm just going to hand it what they are asking for and not stress myself out. Everything happens for a reason and everything will fall into place at the right time. I just can't believe I'm still going through this process. It will be a year soon that I've been going through this process. :(

  5. Wow I'm sooooo happy to see my fellow VJ'ers approved and uniting with their loved ones! This has been quite a journey. Congrats to you all, the end that many felt was never going to come finally showed up! lol

I'm hoping to hear some good news in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully they don't lose my emails agains  (however that happens). Although I wont be moving until the end of the summer, I still just want this process to be over.

  6. I know exactly how you feel. The same thing happened to me. When they send you a checklist of all the docs it usually is because they have not inputted your docs into thier system yet. They then input the docs and if they actually find something missing they will send another checklist for that one. In my case it was proof of legal residence in Canada so i sent it in as soon as i found out they needed it and they just received it today, 2 weeks later so if you can, send the copy of they DS-2019 as soon as possible because this will hasten your process. Good luck.

    Thanks!

I just sat down at my computer to go ahead and send in the DS-2019. Well I'm actually going to send the two packages all over again. I hope I don't get any RFE's after this!

  7. So I called this morning like I said I would and of course no answers can be given to me. Just "I'm not sure, send it all again" WHAT? They have no sign of it in the system!!!! How do you lose an email? I think it's ridiculous. I mean It's not a crazy hassle since it's electronic and I can just resend the files, but I can only imagine how it feels for the people who have to mail these things in and this happens...how annoying!

I do have to provide a copy of my DS-2019 from my J1 visa I had a few years ago, so I guess either way I would have got an RFE, but come on state it for the right things. They basically are asking me for both packages as if they didn't receive it.

    :ranting:

  8. I opened up my email a few minutes ago to have two RFE emails asking for everything we already sent in!!!!! I'm so confused right now and don't understand how these things could be missing. My files were in PDF format and I double checked over and over. The only thing I can see on the RFE checklist as valid is a statement about me no longer having a J-1 visa other then that they are basically asking me to send in all supporting documents I sent in. Grrrrr not a way to start this hump day. I'm extremely annoyed and will be calling for some answers as soon as they open.

    CONGRATS SAYLIN!!!!!!!! Woot Woot!!!!!

  9. Congrats on the recent approvals!

Yay Taylormadecouple, CaliforniaGuy, and ceyhunihal. Sorry if I missed anyone else, I've just skimmed over all the posts I've missed in these last few days.

I'm so happy for you guys!!

Thuy.Hien hang in there...it wont be long now. We will all get out of this hole and on our way!!

Unless, I missed any posts...where the heck is Val and Gary????

  10. Hubby and I are going over the AOS and we are actually confused.

He is sponsoring me and not our son, as our son will get his U.S citizenship from a consular report of birth abroad, being that his father is a U.S citizen.

For the household size, does he add our son as a dependent? I know in the instructions it states:

"21d - Enter the number of unmarried children you have who are under age 21, even if you do not have legal custody of these children. You may exclude any unmarried children under 21, if these children have reached majority under the law of their place of domicile and you do not claim them as dependents on your income tax returns."

He does not claim our son on his tax return as my son does not have his SSN yet, but he still is financially responsible for him

I think that he should count our son as a dependent, but I just want to make sure.

Any help with this question is appreciated.
