I have a similar question about applying for a Schengen visa (euro zone visa) with an expired green card and the extension letter. I know they want you to have significant ties to USA but if your extension letter is only valid a few months past your vacation will they deny you?

OK, need some explanation here...

Today (08/18), we received a Notice of Action, I-797C, titled: "ACS Appointment Notice". It has the biometrics schedule date.

This is the only letter we have received.

Should we also be receiving something else that extends my wife's GC a year? As it is, her GC expires in about 6 weeks.

Yes typically you receive an NOA which acknowledges they received your application and automatically grant you a 1 year extension.

This is the first thing you receive and then you receive your Biometrics appointment notice. Make an infopass appointment as others have suggested. Hope it works out for you.

Sent a letter with the case # on everything as well as the envelope and that we are applying for removal of conditions.

Oh, and we sent with delivery confirmation.

Since I just sent the package 2 days ago I have not received a case number yet. Should I wait for a case number or send it right away?

We originally forgot and sent it in later. And after that, we sent even more evidence. We received one letter stating they had received the additional information. So I don't know if they combined the two or ??? USCIS isn't known for consistency, dontchyaknow.

Did you include anything with the copy of the green card? Like a letter saying "Sorry we forgot" with your names, address, dob, etc?

I am such an idiot. We forgot to include a copy of my wife's green card in our application.

I was totally focused on the evidence that I completely overlooked the first step!!!

Forgive my ignorance but I am freaking out right now and need your help.

Should I:

A: Wait for an RFE or NOA from USCIS

or

B: Send them a copy separately to the CA Service Center? What else should I include so that it gets put in the same file as the rest of the application?

Anybody else forget to submit that?

We just had our AOS interview today. It went very good. He said that we would be approved as soon as we do a police clearance.

That is fine with me, but why isn't that included in the documents they want us to bring. It would have been much better if we got one before but they never said we need one.

It only said Medical Exam, Affadavit of Support, Birth/Marriage certificates, etc. But it did not say police clearance. Maybe they want us to jump through another hoop. But it

Ok I am confused. Why would you need a police clearance for AOS? Didn't you already submit it during your inerview for the k1-visa? I hope somebody can reply, because I just submitted our AOS and we did not put a police certifiacte in our package. The only one we had we gave to the consular during our interview? Does my wife need to get another copy?

That police clearance was from India where she is from. The immigration officer is asking for a police clearance from California for the time she has been living here. Approx 6 months. I don't know why. But he did say that as soon as we submit that, he will approve our petition. Maybe this is like an RFE?

We just had our AOS interview today. It went very good. He said that we would be approved as soon as we do a police clearance.

That is fine with me, but why isn't that included in the documents they want us to bring. It would have been much better if we got one before but they never said we need one.

It only said Medical Exam, Affadavit of Support, Birth/Marriage certificates, etc. But it did not say police clearance. Maybe they want us to jump through another hoop. But it

Do they fill the I-693 out the very same day or do you have to pick it up later? My interview is rapidly approaching!!

I'm still confused though. On the appointment letter it says "Unless Already Submitted". If we submitted it abroad doesn't that count? Has anyone here been to the interview yet?

We submitted them at the American consulate back in India during the K-1 visa interview.

Does that mean we have already submitted them? Or are they asking us to do a whole new examination?

They are asking for the I-693 from a designated civil sugeon here in the US.

If it's been less than 1 year since your immigration physical you only need the vaccination records.

Yes the medical exam was less than 1 year ago. But we submitted the vaccination records at the Consulate in India. Do they want us to get re-vaccinated? What should I do?

Santa Ana office does not offer walk-in appointments. But you can come in at anytime on the day you are scheduled. You don't have to go at the given time. So that helped us out.

My office is Santa Ana, CA. How can I find out if they accept walk in appts? There is no phone number listed.

Has anybody had any luck in rescheduling a biometrics appointment.

We just received the letter with the date but my wife will be out of town on business.

The only way to reschedule is to mail this letter in and request a new date.

But I am extremely nervous about falling through the cracks or having the process be delayed indefinitely.

Has anyone successfully rescheduled and how long after there original date was the new rescheduled date?

Thank you guys for the help!!! That's a real bummer though. We were planning on 3 countries in Europe and all the visa fees per country could add up to over $500! I guess I've got to bite the bullet.

Do permanent residents need a visa to travel Europe? My wife will have her Indian passport along with her permanent residence card. Since U.S. passports are only given to citizens, will she need to get a visa to travel Europe? Does she get a visa from her home country of India?
