hey one more question - they returned all my original docs except the police clearance certificate from DC office and passport office. Is that okay? or do i need those?
-
Congratulations!! I also went to the delhi embassy today and my CR1 visa was approved. The whole process was pretty fast and comfortable (with the new lounge they have at delhi embassy).
Asked me just 2-3 questions, who's the petitioner? what does she do?when did you get married. And then he's like okay everything looks in order, congratulations your visa is approved. Didn't look at any of my documents, no photos, nothing.
I have a question though, i carried my sealed x-ray with me along with my medical report, however they didn't take the x-ray and didn't even bother to look at it. What am i supposed to do with this x-ray? Can I open it and keep it for my personal records or does the embassy need it down the line. What happened in your wife's case?

thank you guys for your prompt replies and best wishes :-)
thanks trinket, i guess i don't need to bother with tax clearance.

Hi - We applied for an immigrant visa at the delhi embassy and I got the visa today. They said my passport with the visa will be sent in 2-3 days through courier.
Does anyone know if I need an income tax clearance certificate to show at delhi airport before i leave for usa? Are there any other formalities (in terms of indian laws) that I have to take care of?
Thanks.

ohh thank you so much kaffy, that makes my job so much easier. thank you.

Okay got it. Thank you so much trailmix, kaffy, margot and everyone. I really appreciate all the help, I couldn't have done this on my own. Cheers..

She's just lived in india since May 2008 - like 7 months. Yeah she has US drivers license and SSN too.
one last question hopefully...haha...look where did i start this topic and where it has come...
Do you know in what format the written explanation for domicile needs to be in? A letter ?? Addressed to whom ?? or does it need to be like a TO WHOMSOVER IT MAY CONCERN kinda letter ???
-
oh ok so use india address for both mailing and residence address then.
In terms of proving domicile we are thinking of attaching :
1. Bank statements from a couple of bank accounts
2. Tax returns are attached showing address as US.
Will both these things be enough ?
-
Thanks MargotDarko, I'll do that.
If we put India address as the mailing address and place of residence, then how do we proove the domicile as USA? Did you attach additional documents to prove your domicile as USA instead of england ?
-
Another question, now that we are going to be haveing two I-864s...what will be the household size in my wife's I864 and her dad's i864 ?
Currently my wife and I stay together in India.
In the US, her father and mother stay together.
the I864 asks for
Enter the number of immigrants : 1 (in my case)
Persons not sponsored in this affidavit :
Yourself : 1
If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse : So will it be 1 or 0 in my wife's I864? since she already counted me above. In her dad's I-864 it will be 1 for his wife. Is that correct?
If you have dependent children, enter the number here : this should be 0 or 1 in my wife's father's I-864? Should he count my wife or not?
OPTIONAL: If you have siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their incomewith yours by submitting Form I-864A, enter the number here. This will be zero in both the I864s rite?
-
Okay, thanks for your quick reply.
One more question...on the I-864 question
8. I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above.
Yes NO (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors)
This should be YES in both my wife's I-864 and her dad's 864? Or should it be yes in one and no in the other ?
-
Ok guys, I'll take your word for it :-)
So for the address on the I-864 from my wife, for her mailing address and place of Residence I should give our India address or her US address?
-
However, before May 2008 she was living with her dad in the same household. That's her permanent address in the US.
I'm all confused now I-864 or I-864A
-
My Wife is living with me in India since May 2008, but once we move back all 4 of us (Me and my wife and her mom and dad ) will live in the same household to start with. Her parent's house in the US is what we have used as our permanent address for the forms, so we figured I-864A needs to be used. Are you absolutely sure??

My Wife filed an I-130 for me at the Delhi Embassy, they accepted our application and gave me packet 3.5.
For the Affidavit of support, My wife is filling an I-864 for me along with her father who is filling an I-864A.
We have a few questions though :
1) Does my wife also needs to fill an I-134 ?
2) For the I-864 and I-864A we are including photocopies of W2s and 1099 from the last year. Photocopies are fine or do we need to submit the original W2s and 1099s?
3) Will the last year tax returns be sufficient or is it really required to have last 3 years? The last year ones are way over the 125% poverty guidlines.
-
I am from Delhi. Yes DCF, we filed the I-130 with the Delhi embassy on December 1st. You also filed at delhi embassy rite?
I emailed at the same email address but got back a reply saying they haven't received the petition yet, weird. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and find out.

Yeah I got the PCC from police comissioner office too. So both my PCC are ready now and i'm ready to submit my documents, I just need the case number now. What is the email address of USCIS from where you got your case number from?
Looks like both of us are pretty much on the same timeline.....I hope you can get back with your wife asap
-
Yeah I just got confused with the whole thing, thanks guys for helping me out.
I got both the PCC's, the local passport office and police station. Going to submit my 3.5 soon, hope everything goes smooth.
Thanks again DanielParual and Diday

Ken - Now you got me thinking, since you say it takes 2-3 months to get PCC from delhi passport office, and I got mine in 3 hours i'm wondering if what I got is sufficient. They basically stamped my passport with a PCC stamp valid for USA. And they also gave me this paper which is the actual PCC and again mentioning USA on it. Is that what you got too?
What is the status on your application, did you get your green card yet ?
-
Thanks ken. Well i went to the passport office today and got the PCC issued, it took just 2-3 hours, gave the application at delhi passport office at 10 am and they asked me to come back at 12:30, and they gave back my passport with the pcc !!! that was the easiest thing so far.
Ken - I saw this other post where you were asking for NWD Case Number. I have the same problem, i have everything ready but don't know the case number yet. I sent an email to the embassy and they replied back saying :
"We have not received this petition from this I-130 petition from the USCIS/DHS/New Delhi office as yet. Please provide your local address."
How did you get your NWD Case number? I did the same thing, filed the I-130 at delhi consulate and they gave me packet 3.5 on the spot and asked me to submit all docs to VFS office. The packet 3.5 does not contain any case number.
-
Ok great. Thanks

Hello -
My current address and my previous address both fall under the same local police station and District police office. Do I need to submit police clearance certificate for both the addresses or a single certificate for the present address suffice.
I know i need to submit additional PCC from the local passport office, but for the pcc from the district police office i'm not sure if i submit a single one or one for each location of my residence.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

well they took my medical report too, the sealed envelope. He took out the papers from the envelope and attached 'em to my file. I was asking about the X-ray, they did not take the x-ray. I guess they don't need that. Sorry for the confusion.
My wife just read your post, and she recognized your wife from the questions you have posted...haha...yeah we overheard her interview (oops, sorry for the eavesdropping), it was just before my interview. once your wife got her visa, i got a bit confident that i'll get too, seemed like a happy day at the delhi embassy..haha..
