Your K-1 visa became null and void the moment you used it to enter the US. It is the I-94 which takes precedence from there. Once you have fulfilled the terms of the visa (get married within 90 days) and have followed through with the AOS application, you remain in legal status pending the outcome of the app.
Yes, I travelled on an expired I-94. Yes, I had maintained my legal status by marrying within the 90 days and filing my AOS. Bring your documentation and your passport. The airport personnel are not going to prevent you from travelling.
Thanks for the replies, I am a bit nervous, but I have my USPS receipt, my money order receipt, a copy of my AOS form (just I-485 would be sufficient yes?) and my certified marriage certificate. What about my money order reciepts? would they count?

Yes. No one ever asked me for any documentation, but I always brought it just in case.

Domestic travel isn't a problem. Like Anh Map and Dakine say, all you need is your passport. I travelled numerous times domestically prior to the GC being issued. Before I received the AOS NOA I brought a copy of the application and proof of delivery. After I received the NOA, I brought that. Never once had a problem.

Need some advice on what to do.
My K1 visa expires on 27th November 2009, and i have just sent off my AOS forms (November 19th). They were sent to Chicago lock box via express mail and i have confirmation/proof of delivery as of today.
My problem is i have a extended interview out of state on the 30th of November, which potentially means that I could have a job already lined up for when my EAD is approved and issued.
Since I will be travelling by air I can see issues regarding the expiry date of my visa etc.... I have already attempted to get a state issued ID but was informed I need the NOA receipt for my AOS application.
Any advice on how i could avoid any issues at security/immigration at the airport? What documents/evidence could I take to prove that my status is protected?
Anyone who has gone through a similar situation? your help is always and greatly appreciated !
Very rare that when travelling domestic that there will any problems. Take your NOA1 for the AOS and your PP.
What If i don't receive my NOA1 for the AOS in time for my travel date? My passport will show an expired I-94 and i will have no proof that I have even filed the AOS.

:dance: Hope that you two have a long and happy life together Unfortunately, we were given the wrong information by that DOS rep who told us the visa has been issued. It in fact, has NOT been issued and my fiance is still in AP. Two different DOS reps told me that he is still in AP as of today. Next time, before posting a happy rant, I am just going to wait until we see it with our own eyes...who could have guessed DOS REPS LIE???
What the flamin eck is this perversed ######!?!?!? Not being funny, but this is just the reason why i find it hard to offer you any moral support, i mean i do check in from time to time and it does upset me to see you in this situation but thos wankers at DOS ! I mean is it a friggin in joke at the office or what?
Sorry to see you still going through this hell but i know your day will come! As much as i can, you are both in my thoughts and prayers xoxo

Hi. New on this thread. My fiance had his interview today and was approved pending the long form birth certificate. He had the birth certificate at home and was ready to send it this afternoon. He called SMS and they said they would pick it up on Monday pending payment over the phone. They said someone would call to get the payment in the next hour, but no one did. He called back and they said that they didn't have him in the system yet and that they couldn't do anything until he was there. They said someone would call back but it might be some time tomorrow morning. Very frustrating since I don't really understand the delay in payment. Hopefully it'll all get sorted out in the morning. Anyway, just wanted to add my story to the thread. So glad this was here to explain the process a little better!
harasss them some more, tell them to pull thier finger out. sometimes its who you talk to there. on the day i recieved the text telling me I had my visa (3.30 pm june 25th 2009 happy day!!!) I was on the phone to one rep who swore she couldnt see me or my passport even with the id no. i had to put the phone down ring again then I found out they had me down as a MRS. which ofcourse i wasnt yet as i was coming to get married, right. that confusion over took about 40 mins to sort. i like to be proactive ( My word for pushy!). though i'm not quite sure why they didnt take the payment immediately like it did when most of us paid them. ??? nonetheless it wont be long b4 you are together.

We have contacted Senators/Congressman but no response yet. Also, we still have not gotten any replies from the US Embassy in London. But a DOS rep has given us this new information:
A DOS representative told me while checking the status of my fiance's case that "The US Embassy in London has not transferred his file to the next database for printing. It is still in the first one." When I asked what that means, she told me that when they transfer to the second database, then it is in queue for printing. His case is still at the US Embassy in London, but it is yet to be internally transferred."
What does this mean?
I think the officer approves and sends on to the visa printer station who does the visa and gives to courier. So it probably means you haven't been approved. Either they are waiting on name checks (AP) or it's sitting there because they are waiting on the passport, which could be sitting somewhere else and they failed to match up. It is maddening and I know you've wished you could just go in and find your stuff, put it together and hand it to them. I hope the congress people will make a timely request to them and spur them on to at least give you a logical answer.

I'm here and the reason I haven't been posting is two-fold. Firstly these last 5 weeks i have to endure are longgggggggg, work are getting there moneys worth out of me and sending me all over the friggin country and i'm racking up mileage like an indy 500 race car driver. I JUST WANNA GET ON MY WAY DAMMIT! Anyway no other complaints, grateful i have my visa, i'll tough it out.
BUT the second reason and this is no bull, is because i see that marm's in a shitty situation and it bugs the hell out of me, its like we all went to school at the same time and i wanted us to all graduate at the same time, and seeing the hassles that she's going through sickens me. I really do not have any words of comfort for you marm (Sorry).
I guess what i'm saying is that because Marm hasn't got her visa yet, i dont wanna be all up in her face waving mine around, but thats just me. I do think you are a shining example and very persistent and genuinely interested in other peoples success that i know your day will come soon. You are doing way beyond what i would have done and your fiancee should be very proud of you. I just want you to get your visa so bad and be happy. I cant think of anything more that you could do.
Anyway in my thoughts and prayers and can't wait for the day you turn around and say, 'computer says yes!'

Good question Marm... I think she's confused. Her petition approval was in Sept, but her visa should have been valid until sometime near Christmas. At the UK airport, you do have to show your visa and sometimes the brown envelope because the airlines want to verify you have everything for proper entry. I suppose they don't want to be stuck having to fly you back to the UK if you don't have all your credentials. Maybe they were just verifying she had her K1.

I just basically told them that i had to get medical evidence. The THREE immigration officers (officer Jenkins and co) looked it over he gave the nod then the I O went into the computer and revalidated the approval. It was a bit nerve wracking, but I dont think it s a huge problem.

Oh and the other question Prima is did you get a one way or return flight?
If you got a return flight did they question your intentions at heathrow?
I only ask because its is against airline t&c's to allow one way travel on a r/t ticket.

I still don't get what happened at the airport. Your K1 approval happens at the Embassy by the officer who does the interview (same day or later if you have to mail in additional documentation.)Your I-129F petition was approved in Sept, but that isn't K1 approval. The K1 visa has an expiration printed on it right under your birth date. It should be 6 months from the day they printed the visa at the Embassy and wouldn't have to be "revalidated" until it expires.

If you're going to submit the AOS 'stuff' fairly soon after getting married then I would suggest skipping the AR-11 and just using the new address on the AOS forms.
However - if it is going to be a 'while' before you do, then submit the AR-11 as soon as possible (doesn't matter if married yet or not).
I thought that you had to fill out AR11 regardless. Since the address in my 'brown' envelope will be the old address, will it matter at POE? So would it be better to send AR11 a day after my POE? I just dont wanna get caught out by the system saying that they were notified too late etc....

As lucky as we are I am to have found the love of my life and All was needed was a K1 Visa ha well We got approved .But my question is just as the time is
almost over Another wrench is set into the mix I will have to be doing a quick move within the next month not out of state that I am in but I really do not want this to affect us
Paper work being all in order and all.People move right easy fix I sure hope so cause it is worrying me but I have no choice,And it is clear to me now it's better done now then before he finally returns home for good.

People do move - fact of life. You can simple get married and file AOS as soon as possible and use your new address on the AOS (and supporting) forms.
Do we fill out AR11 also??

got the visa now, and it is very pretty. blue along the top, bit of red, and abit of gold on the side saying visa. They do come early. 10.30 am I'm happy happy happy.

Def email, call etc. It has to speed things up. I got mine in 3 days and by the way, I asked the courier he said they say they deliver the day after to cover themselves in case it is not possible but if u book the 'before 8' pick-up and he finishes everything in good time to get to the embassy by 10, he delivers it on the same day.

Could it be guys? I just got the text from SMS. It feels too soon. Can they have done it already? someone please tell me I'm not dreaming and they won't ask me for anything else. I sent everything they asked for and also emailed my offer letter and ticket to america ticket to Nigeria next weekend.

When I got to the embassy, we hadn't signed the bottom of the financial support papers so I was given a blue form too. My husband signed the forms and fedexed them to me, I got the papers and my passport picked up and returned back to me, complete with my visa in 6 days.
it was nt just the not signing, she wouldnt accept the tax return even though the employer letter stated he was above the p.l. so we had to get a co sponsor. glad that it went well with you though.
I rang dx couriers today and they said the package should be going over to the embassy today, so hopefully they will start working on it tomorrow or wednesday, I dont think the visa will come this week, but what do I know huh. heres hoping its before the 6th of july.
tomoran, I resigned from my job and in a fit of pettiness and vindictiveness they are paying me to the end of the week, but they told me that monday was my last day. i only have to give them a weeks notice as part of my contract. sheesh, i'm soooooo glad i'm not there , training providers suck azz. lol so i got a week s paid holiday..........i'm off to get lunch. weeeeeee

Visa did not print today either...I am guessing probably Friday or Monday we get the good news that its on its way back to my fiance. I called DOS twice in one hour ....just because I was hoping to get a better person the second time around to tell me exactly what is going on. Well, it was worth it, because the first time around the guy just told me its in admin processing, and the second time around, the lady told me exactly what she saw on her screen: that the embassy put the passport in their system on the 15th of June and no updates after that...so it is not in admin processing, or any further checks...she doesn't really know what they are doing with it, but at least it is a comfort to know my fiance was not put into AP after submitting his passport...but I can't help hanging over the edge until my fiance gets his visa in his hand...
You know what they say about a watched pot never boils...I know its hard, damned if i didnt have mine now i'd probably be doing the same, but when sms collected mine i planned on 10-15 days and so anything before that is a bonus. I know you have plans to travel though so can understand why your eager...anyways soon come !!

had to cancel the courier yet again bcos this m************** is so busy he cant scan the birth cert in on the MONDAY that he got it. The courier is set to come on next Monday, so we will see. I may loose my ticket to Detroit that I foolishly booked 2 months ago thinking that I will be dun with this . If anyone knows anyone who wants to fly to MIchigan around the 6th of July lemme know...... gonna check with the airline if I can put another name on it.

Just something I took note of with the most recent approved pending additional docs cases from London: (tomaran and JimandChristy) . From the point when the embassy acknowledges that they have received the documents/passport, the visa is printed 3 days afterward, delivered on the 4th day from embassy acknowledgment. This of course may not hold true for all recent approved pending additional docs from London, but at least it makes some sense and gives me comfort that my fiance can hopefully get his visa in hand by this Friday. And I called DOS again today (of course) to find out whether they had printed my fiance's visa yet or not, and I guess they had someone new to answer the phone because she gave me the date that the embassy acknowledged my fiance's passport in their system (and many times before when I asked about dates when calling DOS, they always told me they can't tell me exact dates...) which is June 15(Mon), so we have high hopes that my fiance gets his visa in hand by this Friday.
Prima and jay: did you receive the bc from the co-sponsor yet?

I read every day here how people get approved but not many who get denied... Of course, not everybody likes to share bad news.. but still.. Is there some official/not official statistics about that?
What do you think?
People do get denied if there was something undeclared or if police or medical reports come back with discrepancies.
From experience as long as your relationship is bona fide, well documented, police, medical reports come back ok and you have ALL the necessary paperwork you will be fine

I sent the original and a copy of my birth cert along with a letter requesting the original back. They never sent either back, just my passport with visa.
