  1. All this is hogwash. There, I said it!

The kid is BORN with both citizenships. He doesn't have to choose, he doesn't have to take an Oath of Allegiance, nothing of that. Due to jus sangius he's a Russian and a US citizen. I have no clue how that is documented in Russia, but it's only a matter of documenting it, not applying for it, not discussing the merits and downfalls of dual citizenship, none of it.

Why would the parents make sure their child has Russian citizenship? Because you can't put a price tag on citizenship. The ability to move and live wherever one wants is priceless. Do YOU know what living in Russia will be like in half a Century when, perhaps, half of Americans point at their shopping kart when asked about their most priced possession?

I don't spend much time here anymore but I had to reply to this thread.

I didn't see anyone else here in the op's situation except for myself. Me and my Russian wife have a little baby boy now, he was born here in the USA, and he is an AMERICAN CITIZEN. Not a Russian citizen. My wife is very proud and myself that he was born here and she has stated that he will never be a Russian citizen in her lifetime and I 100% agree with her. There are just too many problems associated with a male having dual citizenship between the US and Russia such as already mentioned in previous threads and we want our son to be able to travel to Russia later in life to visit family without having to worry about this.

  2. Wire transfer is not that expensive.

We did this a short time ago from Moscow and we paid around .25% of the total amount. I can't remember the Moscow bank but we sent it to an account that I set up online with Chase since I already had c.c. accounts with them and the Swift code was all they needed in addition to the account number.

One thing to keep in mind that a lot of people don't know about yet; Russian citizens can only wire tranfer out of Russia $5000 per day, but a foreigner can do any amount.

  3. I think everyone is missing a very important fact here and that is Russia will not allow dual citizenship. My wife checked into this a while back just to be prepared for our future children.

It's possible for the child to obtain Russian citizenship but the American father has to renounce the child's U.S. citizenship on his behalf. Not a smart thing to do.

sorry, but every sentence in your post is wrong. You, as a foreign (non-Russian) citizen, has to consent in writing to child acquiring a Russian citizenship. That's all.

Well maybe but I'm just typing what my wife told me and she checked all this out with the Russian authorites very recently as she speaks fluent Russian and that is what they told her, so you might check this again.

  4. Ok,

I have the complete 1040 tax return with all forms, schedules, and 1099's attached. I even included notarized letters from my accountant and myself certifying the return was electronically filed and that everything is true and accurate.

I hope this is acceptable to the embassy. We will find out shortly. I don't know what else to do.

They took it!! No questions asked. She passed her interview today!! What a relief.

  6. Get your tax transcripts from the IRS and write a note notarized explaining why you don't have W2 forms. My girl had her interview on March 2 and I sent my 1040 ands it wasn't enough. My US Representative contacted the embassy and they said they wanted what I described. I was told by IRS it takes 3 weeks after you file before you can get them. I e-filed on the 18th so I have to wait until around the middle of March to get those papers to satisfy the embassies request.

Personally I am drawing up a letter to notarize and so is my accountant. I learned you can't be to careful. Apparently with Turbo tax etc its more common for people to fraudulently make out a 1040. A 1040 does not prove you actually paid income tax and earned the shown income. I was requested to have 2007 and 2008 to resubmit. If you live in the lower 48 states I believe the 125% poverty line is $18,212 so you should be fine at $21,000. Good luck to you.

Now I'm a little worried. Her interview is next Friday March 13th. I'm flying out to be with her this coming Monday. There is no way I can get transcripts on such short notice. My accountant did include form 8879 with my return which is evidence of being e-filed. She signed it and even included her business card with all phone numbers. Do you think this will be enough proof? Should I also include a written letter from myself testifying to the fact?

    Thank you for any replies.

  7. Hello,

I am self-employed and I had my income taxes done today for my fiancee's upcoming interview. Since I have a lot of tax write-offs and deductions that I can legally take, line 22 on my form 1040 ended up being $21,000.00, much lower than what I actually make.

Will this be enough for form I-134 or do I need go back and see my accountant again?

It will only be for the support of my fiancee and I if that helps.

    Thank you for any replies.

  8. Hello,

Our petition was approved on Feb. 6th and we would like to know all the details of the next steps especially from people who has went through the Moscow Russia embassy. How long does it typically take for our case to get there? How do we get this special number so my finacee can go ahead and schedule her medical exam?

    Any replies will be appreciated.

Oh by the way, my fiancee would like to know what exactly consists of the medical exam and which place in Moscow is the best place to go for it.

She would also like to know what vaccinations she will require because she cannot find any vaccination records. She is 31 years old if that helps.

    Thank you

  9. We got approved on Feb. 6!!!! I just got the email now!!! I was expecting another month or so to wait. Thank God!!!! I'm not much of a poster here but I have read very much. Thank you for all the good information!!

  10. hello all K1 octoberians! i received our NOA1 on oct.1st. good luck to everyone. Take care and God bless.

We received our NOA1 on Oct. 1st also. I'm not much of a poster, I like to read them, but I wanted to say good luck to you also. I never imagined the wait would affect my finacee and me like it is now because we're so anxious. It's very difficult not knowing when. It's the first thing we talk about each and every day. Both of us are praying to get the NOA2 by the middle of March. We had planned last year for an April wedding but I think that's not possible now. Maybe May.
