Hi,
Could someone tell me if there is a minimum stay requirement if you come to the US on a tourist visa & then travel to Canada, how long do you have to stay in Canada so that when you come back to the US, you get a fresh 6 month visa?
also can you get a visa to Canada from the us?

Hi,
I have a similar situation. My wife is filing for her mother. My wife doesn't work, so does she fill out the I-864 as the primary petitioner and leave the employment sections blank and I fill out the I864a?

thanks. So a couple more questions, my wife will need to fill the I-864 and not list any joint sponsors, correct? Since she's a housewife, what should she indicate in the work history section?
Also on the I-864A, in section 13 it asks you to specify the # of the immigrant being sponsored. Here's part of the text "jointly and severally liable for any obligations I incur under the affidavit of support, promise to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the following (Indicate Number)"
What is this #?

Hi,
I had a question regarding the I-864. My wife is applying for her mother. My wife doesn't work, so when filling out the I-864, should she fill it out with me as a joint sponsor or do I have to fill out a separate form?

Thank you for finding the post. A slight correction, my wife is filing for her mother We have checked and you can file w/o returning to native country.
I might have been wrong. This may help: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/486335-want-to-apply-green-card-for-mom-she-has-just-came-to-visit-me-in-usa-on-visitor-visa/
Good luck!

Hi everyone,
I apologize if this information is already covered in another topic, I did search and didn't find what I was looking for. Anyways my mother in law is currently in the States on a visit visa. We want to file for her Green card while she is here. We've downloaded the forms from USCIS and had a few questions for the people who've gone through this process before.
The forms we're filling out initially are the I-485 & I-130, we intend to file them concurrently.
- First question, on the I-485, Section 2. Which category do you choose for parent, Other?
- Does my mother in law need a police report and a medical exam done in advance of the filing?
Thank you,

Hi,
I'm posting on behalf of my brother. I apologize if it's already covered in an existing topic, couldn't find it in a search ...
My brother's fiancee is a Canadian resident in the US on a student visa. They're planning on getting married over the summer. Once they file the I-130 can they skip the NVC altogether?
Any info would be much appreciated.

I'm not exactly sure what visa my brother's fiancess entered the US with, I think it's either a business visa or a student visa since she's currently in school. If she's already in the US, then does the case even go to the NVC or is it resolved at USCIS?
What visa is she in the US on? I would guess that it would be way easier for her to adjust status within the US, and avoid the NVC altogether.

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right thread, posting here since it's Canada specific. My brother(US citizen) is going to be marrying a Canadian resident, Pakistani national, who is currently living in the US. I was just wondering after the case gets done @ USCIS, will the NVC assign her case to the Pakistan dept or Canadian dept?

Hi I don't have the exact dates right now, but my wife had her citizenship interview on July 9th in Chicago. She passed the interview and was told that the next court date in her county was on Sept 24th. She hasn't received her interview letter yet, however we had some friends who had their interview on the same date, same place and they received their interview letter. just wondering if it's a good idea to show up at the courthouse on the off chance that the letter has been mailed but won't reach us on time? Called USCIS and the automated hotline says that the latest status is that the case has been transferred to the local USCIS office ...

Click "start application" on the main page, and then on the second page select the embassy in STEP1, and then for STEP2 pick option B "upload a previous application". You then browse for the .DAT file on your computer and it loads in all the information (almost).
There are still some glitches when we filled the form out about a months ago. The intended trvel date and the passport photo would not save in the .DAT file so we had to select them again every time we loaded the information in.
If you are unable to load the .DAT file this way, you would have to start over.

I'm applying for a tourist visa for my mother in law, who will be applying in islamabad, pakistan. i filled out the app online partially and then saved it to resume later. the only option to save is in .DAT format. I'm unable to open this file in any program after saving it, nor am I able to upload it on the Pak embassy website to resume the application. Anyone else gone through this and have suggestions?

Hi,
I'm in the process of filing for tourist visa for my mother-in-law as well. She's travelling from Pakistan. I filled out the DS-160 online and saved the application, intending to email the application to her. The file saves in .DAT format, which I can't figure out how to open again. Any one else have the same issue? I tried changing the file format to .htm, didn't work

still no updates on my case. From the list I'm seeing that other people from CSC have been getting approved who've filed after we did ... I wonder what the holdup is? If there were to be delays, I figured they would be before the BioMetrics appt. ....

Hello everyone, wanted to post a non-immigration related question ... Anoybody on the forum have information on VoIP services in Pakistan, specifically Islamabad? I want to know if there are any companies offering residential VoIP service in Pakistan? If there are, how reliable are they and how is the quality? I'm currently using Packet 8 to give mother in law a US ph # so that she can stay in touch with my wife. however if I were to get a Pakistani ph #, then that allows us to stay in touch with a lot more people. Any information would be much appreciated ...Shahab
Did you consider BrainTel?
