  1. Hey there Yardies!

Hubby and I have had a pretty tought year or so but none the less we have just mailed off the I-130 for his daughter in Mo Bay, she is 15. We decided that waiting for him to have a job might be too long to wait for a 15 year old girl to be in a proper household.

Has anyone gone through the Consulate in Kingston with a child immigration recently? I know everyone has a different experience however I'd like to hear from some of you as to what I can expect. More so with processing time and any other wonderful tips that you can give me. We are hoping that everything will be as smooth as his was and she'll be here in time for school at the end of August.

Thanks so much! Hope all is well with everyone.

  2. Hi Yardies, Today was my husbands grandmothers funeral and his whole family was in Portland last night for the nine night, and one of his uncles was brutally murdered in a bar. They just walked up to him and shot him in the neck, they didnt even rob him. Now they have to burry their brother, please pray for us.

My prayers are with you LS. (F)

  3. Hello to all you Yardie Ladies!

I've been deep into everything since before the Holidays. Between my annual audit at work and then immigration hoo-haa, my mind has been numb. We finally made it through the ARC process as of a couple weeks ago. But alas there are always issues in these situations. In my case mainly the utter lack of work. I thank the Lord that I have a job and make a decent living because I couldn't buy a job for my husband right now.

I hope you are all blessed and things are well. Some of you have dropped me a line here and there to check in and I really appreciate that. I know that my immigration process was easier than most however that unfortuantely did not help the reality of our global economy after it was finished. The pressure on me over the past months has been enormous as it has not been easy for me to have so much responsibility. It's always just been me and my Cocker Spaniel Lady and now hubby must count on me as well. And you all know how much my Jamaican husband likes being in that position!

So we do what we must.....I am starting my MBA in the Fall and hubby is studying for his GED so he can also go to school by the first of the year. We are trying to make the best of a bad economy by preparing ourselves for the future. And being Christians we know it will be a brighter future. :goofy:

I'm looking forward to catching up with the regular ladies here (You know who you are!) and the new ladies as well.

Summer in Florida means staying inside and enjoying the A/C. I'll be online more than most so I hope to see you all around soon.

  4. YAY! Was having a really bad day today but when i stopped home during lunch i checked the mail and..........Al finally got his bio appt!!! omg im in shock...good to know they didnt lose our case as I was suspecting! bio notice dated 2/13 received 2/17 appt is on 3/10 at 2pm in Hicksville if someone would be so kind as to update the spreadsheet I would appreciate it. thanks!

OMG! Maybe there is hope for us yet! I am still waiting for a Bio appointment and getting really ticked off about it! :(

  5. Who says I wouldn't want them there, Sus?????????

It's one thing to have them there - It's another to create one yourself and then try to explain how it arrived

    Ha ha......no comment! :innocent:

My friend just e-mailed me to tell me how her husband got so drunk last night, when he got into bed, he didn't realize the dog was between them, and kept feeling the poor thing up, thinking it was her.

My whole day has been kind of surreal like that today!

    LMAO!!!!! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Please don't ever let that be my husband!

  6. Good morning ladies.

Looks like a few hubbies got tongue lashings last night. Count me in on that as well however I am not a good yeller, and didn't want my mom to hear, so I made my point firm but quiet.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Ha....you better teach me how to do that. I was cussing up a storm. If he would've just taken my advice and walked away. When I say walk away cause I don't want to fight with you tonight, I don't want to fight with you. It doesn't mean walk back and forth and mutter under your breath so I have to keep saying "what?"

OK...you got me there JG. The under the breath muttering would have sent me over the edge even with mom listening in the same room. :bonk:

  7. Ok all of yall living in these freezing cold inhumane conditions.....yuh need fi move yuh rass a di west coast!! Thats crazy Honey, I cant believe your electric note. and you too JahLove, $400+ dollars thats un heard of.

indeed it is i moved here to save money tell me why im spendin the same!! everytime we see baldwin hills on tv chris says i wanna move to california

Come to Florida! We don't have any Income Tax either. And Mickey Mouse as a bonus for all of you with little ones. :star:

  8. Yes, he loves Seward Park. We have already been there 3x since he came. He likes the water and trees. When we left the SS office he was like "Wow that was easy". Cause you know in Jamaica, to get anything it takes an arm and a leg just to open a basic bank account let alone anything else. I was like "Yea, this is America"!

That is great! There may be hope for me yet. The Pacific Northwest does have a ton of rain but the beauty seems to far outweigh the drizzle. As long as you can get out of town once in a while.

  9. Good Morning everyone:

Haven't had a real chance to see how everyone is; hopefully okay. Okay well I'm gonna attempt to catch up and read some pages, but I'm 233 pgs behind!!!!

shanette, when u get caught up.. how is mr settling in???

He is doing okay. He loves it here! He has just been watching t.v. He's a big fan of the judge shows especially Judge Karen. We haven't really done anything exciting except go out to eat, went to the park, shopping you know the norm stuff. Honesty, he's a home-body so its been working out. We applied for his SS card so that should be coming in the mail soon. He has put in a couple of apps because he and I are anxious to start working soon.

Okay I will see yall later

Shanette I am so happy to hear that Mr. is loving the area.

I asked Aeon if he would consider moving back there and he wasn't too enthusiastic. Maybe he would feel differently after seeing it in person. He's never seen anything on the west coast.

  10. That room is for US citizen inquiries like change of address in JA for social security checks, or register to vote, etc.

Where was C - way down at the opposite end?

Good afternoon ladies. Just eavesdropping on y'all while I try to have a little lunch at my desk.

Looks like many of you are working from home or stayed home due to the weather. Hope everybody is safe and if you must go out, take extra caution.

Otherwise, hope that everyone is well today.

Pam where in the north did you leave before busting out to FL?

I was born and raised in Seattle and then moved to Fairfield County, Connecticut in my teen years. I spent 17 years in CT before heading out to sea. I worked on cruise ships for 5 years before settling down in FL.

Hey yall, how is everyone doing?

IW congrats on your approval, I should have asked you to stop by Ewaton and get me some jerk pork, and bring back some blue mountain!

Something great happen to someone else.... can't remember who so congrats on all the big milestones and the little one....

    Welcome back Ms. P!

    ummm jerk pork!!!

Why can't we find jerk pork or PORK here in the Jamaican restaurants? Ray loves it.

Girl, make you're own...I keep tell you how, it's real easy.

Tell ME too Lawns!! Pork is A's favorite!

Aeon says "When you say Pork you are calling my name"

  11. I just bought a bag and I feel GOOD!

Does this ever happen to u? Do u buy something and u feel happy

Oooo Yes! As long as it's all for me! It's nice to do something just for yourself once in a while. As women I think we naturally are always taking care of others and often neglect ourselves. I have personally been neglecting myself lately.

pam, girl.. i been neglecting myself for the last 10 years LOL.. i am slowly learning to find gratification instead of guilt in taking care of myself.. and not to do ####### for tat, like if I get my hair done, i feel like I gotta take the girls to the movies CRAZY :bonk::bonk:

pam, u work VERY hard my girl, u HAVE to treat yourself well or else u will get frustrated and burnt out..

Yes Quana I know you are right! I've been worrying too much about how hubby is feeeling lately and forgetting myself.

  13. BTW: good morning people!

I was up till midnight reading the yardies waiting for interviews thread below

Almost makes a person want to give up... then I remember the love...

Marlita your posts touched my heart (L) is your husband here now?

I am so grateful for this site!

So many here who support who understand.

    (((VJ)))

Morning Princess - Trust me, we understand how it feels - and just when you feel like giving up, someone else has a success story that makes you realize it's worth it - Nothing good in life comes easy.

    AMEN

    I second that! AMEN!

  14. Good evening ladies!

I'm just getting ready to leave the office tonight. It's been a long week already and it's only Tuesday.

    Lord give me strength.

Will try to get on tonight and catch up a bit more......and hopefully get a little involved. B)

I can relate to the long week, Scuba - Just jump in where you can - Love your wedding pics!

    Thanks Sus!

  15. Hi ladies!

Just checking in quickly. Work has been so very busy lately I can barely find time to do anything for myself. The 7pm evenings and all day Saturdays are wearing on me however the good Lord is keeping me strong. :)

Scuba...you know..I know ..how ya feel.

Yes KK.....and the message at the company meeting last week was "Do More with Less"! And although as managment I am onboard with doing whatever it takes.....I am already doing more with less. 2009 does not look like a good year for relaxation! I'm "hunkering down"!

  16. Hey Justucia.....are you back?????????????

Dillon....be safe. Friend of mine is driving around S. St. Louis right now and said snow/sleet mixture coming down, very slick. They just got a call of another accident at the 44/55 split. I'm headed home in just a bit. Not playing around in this today.

I am being VERY safe I am working from home today since school was called off. You be careful too, get home and stay warm. At least your window isn't stuck down today!

Damn you.....I need to work from home.

Yeah, I am headed out in about a half hour or so. I'll be fine. What I worry about is Andre driving to work and back tonight. He won't be home till after 2. I'll be a nervous wreck.

No, the window is JAMMED up and will probably never go down again.

Thank goodness for it being up! Better than down this time of year.

I seriously feel for you all in the harsh winter climates. The division of my company that I support is in St. Louis and they are really hurting this year as the winter I guess has been worse than normal. I left the North in 1998 and vowed to never move back.

  17. Hi ladies!

Just checking in quickly. Work has been so very busy lately I can barely find time to do anything for myself. The 7pm evenings and all day Saturdays are wearing on me however the good Lord is keeping me strong. :)

hi pam.. good to "see" u, i pray ur strength w/ those work hours.. how is hubby faring w/ his wife away so much??? :crying:

Thanks for the prayers....hubby is faring OK. Mostly because my mommy is here and they are getting along fabulous! What more can you ask for?

Otherwise he is chomping at the bit because he wants to work and of course we must wait, and wait. I'm a bit vexed waiting for the biometrics appointment. I think we got stuck in a Holiday backlog or something.
