  1. Hello all,

I received a good response from another post that I had up and it raised a good point of cancern:

a good point , about waiting till she is married to file for the passport and apply with her married name or apply for the passport before we are married and then change the have to update the name on her passport after we are married. I wonder which is the better wahy to go? What is involved with updating/changing your name on the passport after marriage?

what is the best way to go? apply for the passport before or after marriage? Also, if she obtains the passport before we get married can she still use that to come to the US on the k3 or cr1 visa, with itin her maiden name?

Basically, is it optional to update the passport to her married name or is it mandatory?

Not sure whether to have her apply now or after; don't know which way would be more beneficial.

    Thanks much

    Steve

    Hi,

Either way will do, but if you will think of the time and money she will spend getting her passport in her maiden name and change it later on, it's just a waste of time and money. While if you will wait after marriage, she just need your marriage license from NSO and her birth certificate.

Its just my suggestion :) it's up to you. Someone may have better idea.

    Good luck and congratulations..

    Lucille

  2. Hello everyone,

Hopefully someone can give me advice on this . I will be going to the Philippines in 2 months but my worry is that, my passport is still on my maiden name. When I did my reservation for my ticket they told me to use what is on my passport but still I used what is on my green card. I would like to know if someone has travelled with their maiden name and used their married name on their ticket, and if they encountered any problem.

    Thanks...

  3. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Alexandria. A friend of mine that I was referred to had they 2nd interview yeasterday in Baltimore. They were interviewd separately. They were asked a lot of personal questions, like what they did last week, who visited them, who cook meal and more... If I were you you, try to be familiarized with individuals habits and other some basic things in your household and sit down with your husband and go through with it, and also bring more proof that you can get. she said the IO was nice and asked her more questions than her husband(USC). You will be fine, just have faith in yourself.

Thanks Lucille, did she tell them that they passed after the interview?

She said they told them that everything is set that they will wait for her biometrics. She has a biometrics schedule 2 days after the interview.

  5. Hi Everyone. my nerves are starting to set in and I want to make sure we have everything we need to have a successful interview.

    We have:

-apartment lease in both our names

-bank account in both our names

-cards addressed to both of us

-utility bills (one with my name, one with my husbands name) sent to the same address

-tons of photos from the from when we met, the wedding and everything inbetween and after

-letter of employment and pay stubs

    -completed I-864

-and everything else official they ask for

do we have it? are we ready? I would love some confirmation or advice about what else we can bring.

    Thanks in advance!

Don't stress yourself about the interview, specially you entered the US with your K1 visa. You have more proof than I had during our interview in Baltimore. From what I read here some people get 2nd interview in Baltimore. Read the application though. You will be fine.

  6. Hello,

I need some help here. I am going for a second interview on the 17th of Feb, in Baltimore. We had our first interview on sep 2nd on 2008. The lady was friendly and professional. She asked as general questions like date of births, how we met, Where do we work? We had common proof like bank account, car insurance, health insurance, . We also had a photo album that she didnt even ask to see. She said that we would hear from the shortly. This took 10 minutes.

In jan, we found out that we were going for a second interview? How anyone experienced a second interview?

    Please help!

I have heard from a couple of sources that they have been calling severl people for second interviews at the Baltimore office.

Thanks-- i have heard the same from other people. Still the idea of another interview is really fustrating!!!

Hi, We had our interview in Baltimore too and the interviewer didn't tell us if we are approved. From what I read here a lot of people don't really get approval on the date of their interview in Baltimore . I was so stressed and worried before and after the interview, because we didn't have bills to show, only our joint accnt, few credit cards, benificiary form and pictures. A friend of mine who filed their application on Oct 2007 and had interview on Feb 2008 and had way much proof than I had, have not recieved her GC and and just had re- schedule for Biometrics again. I was wondering if them too will get 2nd interview. Most of the questions were asked to my husband. the officer was friendly at first and then became serious. A week later we got mail from USCIS that I-130 is approved and I'm still waiting for the approval letter for my AOS.

You may want to check some interview questions on VJ site. I wish you good luck on your 2nd interview.

  7. So what did u guys talk about in the interview?... I'm guessing that if the questions were personal (about your marriage), then ur I-485 was being considered. That happened to me too.... They told me that my I-130 was approved (not a word about the I485) and that soon I was going to be receiving "something" in the mail... well  that something end up being (After a notice of Action) MY WELCOME LETTER! so.. It might work out in the same way for u ;)Faith!

Hi Joysmith. Did you had your interview in Baltimore?  The officer didn't ask us a lot of questions, just asked us how we met and when did we decided to get married, she asked my husband if he still works for  DOL and we didn't have that much proof either, except that he had me as his life insurance beneficiary and few credit cards and our joint accnt and we brought pictures, we were told just to wait for approval I was worried about it yesterday, a friend of mine had interview in Baltimore almost a year now and have not gotten her GC and same thing  they told them to wait for approval To my surprised when I check my case online this morning it says " card production ordered" :wow: . I think even before the interview they know if they will approve you or not. Congratulations on your approval !

Are you adjusting from a K-1 or a K-3 or some other visa type??

I have seen in some K-3 cases where I-129F is approved well before I-130, and the person enters the USA and files for AOS, the I-130 for the K-3 needs to be approved before AOS can be approved, the I-130 is what the AOS is based on.

K-1 visa holders dont have the I-130 approval process since one is never filed in K-1 cases.

Thanks for reply. I'm adjusting from B2 (tourist visa) . From what I read here people get approval on their AOS but never mentioned about I-130 approval which made me confused. I sent all my package on August 18,2008 and had my interview last week. I just hope that my AOS will be approved too.

  9.  Hi everyone. I am adjusting my status based on marriage. I recieved mail today from USCIS stating that, the I-130 have been approved. We had our interview on Jan. 22,2008 in which the IO didn't give us a clear answer weather our interview were approved.  I'm just confused :o because of what I have read here that mostly, people get their AOS approved but never heard of I-130 being approved.
