  1. Hello Everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know that we are Approved!!! When I asked him how it went his exact words, "it was simple, easy and stress free, alot of waiting but really no bother" So hopefully it will be all of those things for everyone else. I am in complete shock right now, I was worried about a few things because we had a co-sponsor but it all went well and now I finally feel like the 5 year wait is over and we can go from waiting to together. This is truly a wonderful day for me and I want to thank everyone on here who helped me so much. All the advice and help, words can not express how grateful I am.:star::dance:

  2. ahh that is great news caminic I didnt get any news today for my fiancee and his date I was going to have him send in another checklist in the mail tomorrow and make it return receipt requested this time because he didnt do it last time. And this time I had him put down a travel date because when he sent that packet 3 letter in he didnt have his medical at first. I called dos today they didnt have it in the system but they did have his medical report. So do you think it is a good idea I have him send that packet 3 checklist in again or should I wait.

What we did is composed a letter about how long it had been and said that the DOS recommended re-sending packet 3, which they did, along with a complete copy of packet 3. Personally if it is not too much trouble I would sent another and include a letter. I also sent an email with the code to the embassy and no response, but within hours of them receiving a second packet 3 it was in their system and we had an interview date. You can wait if you want, but we couldn't anymore, the people at the DOS and the embassy sounded way too worried that nothing was in the system. I was very polite in the letter and let them know details and that we would expect a response soon on details for the reasons of delay on our case. I don't think it will be much longer before you have your interview date though. :star:

  3. We got some great news today, Nic’s interview is on March 25th. Thank you so much everyone for being so kind and supportive. Thank you to Talyss for your suggestions because I did everything and it all worked. Amazing how with a small amount of nagging they found our packet 3, put it in the system and got an interview date so quickly. My happy is back and even better I know those on a similar timeline will be getting their interviews any day now. Oh I am in such a great mood, I hope this is a good sign for everyone that all the cases will lean towards positive results. :star:

  4. I want to give an update on my situation with packet 3 and not getting packet 4. I am right that skeez&titanic are on the same time scale as us right now. We sent our packet 3 out on Feb. 4th and the Embassy received it, and signed for it on the 6th. I think they are doing the same things to our case. I had called the DOS on Thursday then decided to call again Friday, after speaking again to the DOS and our case still not being in their system after a month we decided to send in another packet 3 to the Embassy with a letter explaining that DOS suggested it. Then I took time off of work to go in late so I could call the Embassy in London. After paying the overpriced fee, the guy I spoke with also said they had no record of packet 3 in their system. However, they did have a record Nic’s medical which was a full week after the Embassy received packet 3. He gave me the email code and told me what information to send in his exact words, “those documents you sent should have been in our system in 2 weeks, 4 weeks tops, and it has been past that so it is very likely there is a problem.” Of course that made me feel worse than ever. I told him that we had re-sent another packet 3 that very day and he said “good, I was going to recommend that.” He was very polite to me and did not give me anything excuses or say anything about waiting longer. As a matter of fact he seemed more concerned that it was not in the system than me. So I sent in an email, got an automated response that it would take about 4 days for them to answer and now I am back to the waiting game. This set back and being told nothing has really broken my spirit. I just want to here something at this point, even a lie or story would be nice from the Embassy. Their concern has worried me more than ever and now I am starting to believe me and Nic are going to be celebrating our 5 year anniversary apart…again. Hopefully this week we will know something. Thanks for all the help everyone and I am very happy that so many other cases are going well.

  5. Hey everyone,

I am looking for some advice here. I just got off the phone with the DOS to be informed that even though the UK embassy signed for our packet 3 on Feb. 6th, there is no record of it. There is a record of the medical which was a week later but no packet 3 having been received. The woman at the DOS said that it should not have taken a full month for the UK embassy to get it in their system. So I am wondering how worried should I be here. Both me and my fiance are working double shifts to get some money together and trying to find time to call all these people is almost impossible. We both get done with work long after everything is closed. I am about to lose it with them telling me there is no record of packet 3 and I am hoping that this is not as much of an issue as the woman at the DOS makes it seem to be. I am running on 2-3 hours of sleep a day, working two full-time jobs and trying to do full-time online school, I just can't take hearing that there is a problem with our case :crying:

I suggest you ring the embassy high cost helpline press 3 to skip the voice preamble and get an operator. and ask them for the weekly code for e-mailing the embassy. This will get you to the attention of someone who has access to the paperwork who can check for you. They may take 2-3 days to respond to send you an e-mail response.

The other alternative would be to resend the packet 3 documents with a covering note stating that the DoS helpline says they have not been received so you are sending them again.

Thank you for replying, it has helped calm me down. I am going to do both. This just upset me so much. I couldn't even think with a calm head what to do I was so angry.

  7. Congrats Yader&Sarah!! I get more excited every time I see someone get to the final end of all the waiting, it must be a wonderful valentine's day gift for you both. I am happy to hear all the good news from so many people and sad that others are struggling so much with the process. Speaking from almost 5 years of waiting I know there are ups and downs with it. You would be suprised the stupid things that are miscommunicated over the phone and via internet. I remember several years ago me and my guy thought each other wasn't leaving offline messages only to discover we both had been and messenger had been losing them. There is so much silly stuff and not being able to see a person's visual reactions makes a huge difference. What I can say for sure is that it gets better. When anyone in a long distance relationship I know is having problems I tell them to just sit and think what would your life be without them. If they just vanished and you never heard from them again, how would you feel and how would it be. Sounds simple because it is, just stop and think. Often as people we make things so complex and look past the simple. Take a few steps back and simply think about life. Really, really think about what simple things make you happy, the free things, because it is those things that matter when all around us changes. :star:

  8. Hello everyone,

First let me say I am glad to see all the approvals and positive progress on all the cases this week and lets hope for more. Nic has his medical tommorrow in London which we are excited to get that out of the way. He ordered his police certificate almost 3 weeks ago and has not got it yet. 2 weeks ago he ordered a long version of his birth certificate and still has not got that yet either. We think the snow days slowed this down some. Just to give people an idea of how soon to order those documents. To those going through the London embassy do not freak out of the weird letter package 3, we did. Calm down and just go through it one thing at a time. :star:

  9. Congrats to the both of you!! Very exciting and I am so happy all went well. Thanks Seb for taking the time to put so much detail into how your interview went. My guy should be having his very soon and it helps so much all the tips on what to expect. Best wishes to the both of you, it is really wonderful news. :star:

The interview was at 9 a.m.

    We're approved!!!

    YEaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa congrats :dance::dance::dance:

BTW what were the questions they asked and how long did it take??

This is Seb here - I'll run down how my morning went.

I got to the London embassy at about 7:20 AM. There was already a queue outside, maybe 15 people were there already. I was outside for maybe 15 minutes - not long at all. I took my belt off for security, had my big folder x-rayed, and was inside by about 7:40. My ticket number was 5001 - considering that immigrant visa applicants are numbered from 5000, I'd done exceptionally well.

At about 8:20, I was called up to window 14. I showed the guy (who was English) my passport, then I was sent to the cashier, where I paid my $131 in cash. I returned to window 14, where I handed in my birth certificate, my passport photos, my police certificate, and the I-134 forms (plus all my photocopies). I also signed my two DS-156 forms that I'd mailed in January. My fingerprints were scanned, and I was sent back into the hall, to await my actual interview.

At about 9:20, I was summoned to window 16 for my interview. The guy there was American - early 20s, somewhat of a boy scout, very friendly. After I'd sworn that all the information I'd supplied is true, he asked me the following questions in no particular order:

    • "So you met in the States, right?" I explained that we met online but that she spent a year studying in the UK.
    • "And when did she leave the UK"?
    • "What made you decide that you'd live in the States rather than here?" I explained that Terri's still a student.
    • "And what's she studying"
    • "Where will you be living in the States"
    • "Who proposed?" After I said, "me", he responded, "I like that, I'm pretty traditional. How did you do it" I told him about how I put the ring inside a cheesecake my sister baked, and he laughed, wondering if I wasn't terrified she might swallow it. "And when was that?" I told him the exact date.
    • "Tell me all the countries you've lived in for longer than a year since turning 16"
    • "Have you lived in the USA before?" I explained that I was an H4 for five years, which he was very excited about.

After all that, he said I was approved and wished me the best of luck. Before leaving to pay the courier, though, I asked him about the big pile of photographs and phone bills and emails etc that I'd brought and if they're ever required - the embassy never mentioned it prior to my interview, but being cautious I brought it anyway. He said, "it depends on the interview we just had. We didn't need any extra stuff from you". I guess my sincerity was apparent with all the questions he asked - he could tell I was in it for the love!

I left at around 9:30, around 2 hours after I'd arrived. If I can offer any advice to future London interviewees, it would be:

    • arrive before 8, even if your interview letter says 9am! Getting inside by 7:40 made a huge difference. By the time I went up to Window 14 to hand in my money and documents, I could see (on the display boards) that 5007 had just joined the queue. By the time I'd left, 5007 hadn't been called yet. You want to be as far ahead in the queue as possible.
    • They have nice coffee inside. Don't worry!

Thanks very much for the kind wishes - I hope you will all enjoy trouble-free K-1 interviews! If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask.

  10. Don't worry Dani some of us are still around and despite my level of busy I do check the site everyday and am always excited at the approvals and thinking of everyone still waiting. I understand waiting more than everyone I ever met and with this I also know there is always a reason why things happen when they do. Sure that doesn't help at the time but it is true and soon all this wait will be over and things will move so fast you will be under a panic to keep up..like me. Keep smiling everyone because my prayers are with everyone. :star:

  11. Hello Fellow VJers,

I am super busy working and doing full-time University classes but still checking in hoping to see approvals and yet again disappointed they are putting everyone through the same old excuses game.

Yader&Sarah- I got 2 copies of the same letter with different dates from the NVC too. I guess they are too busy sending extra copies to all of us instead of actually getting those who are stuck in AP processed.

Terri and Seb- I am really excited :star: to see how well things are coming along with your case. I remember awhile back you say you are using the new I134 form (non-notarized) let us know how that goes. I been seeing some interesting reviews of the London embassy interviews that has even made gather additional documents, so I am super curious to hear how your interview goes.

As far as my own case goes Nic booked his medical for next Friday the 13th and we got our packet 3 sent off yesterday so I guess for us it is waiting for the rest of the papers to come in the mail and him to complete his medical. I hope that the processing centers start to get it in gear for everyone else waiting. Trust me I know all about waiting and how fed up you get. I realized yesterday it will be 5 years of us being apart and going back and forth across the ocean. 5 years!! We talked about how when he is finally here it will be the first time we have ever known the feeling of actually being together without of the feeling of separating in a few days and crying at the airport. I know the journey for everyone is stressful but trust me soon it will be finished and all the waiting, even years of it, will seem like nothing and more than worth it.

  12. Well I am in trouble then as I am a vege ha ha

Just will have to get used to splashing out more money for groceries and shop at whole foods and thank god for the net will be searching out things for I need.

Check out the Spiral Diner restaurant in Dallas they also got one in Fort Worth. Reasonable prices and a 100% vegan place to eat.

  13. Um, I got packet 3, I think... only, it's more like a 'letter 3'.. it's a letter from the London consulate with a couple of web links for forms that I need to return to them. I thought they actually sent you the forms.. hence the packet? Did they just get lazy?

Our packet 3 was the same way this week too. They actually sent two identical packets (letters) with links to their website for forms to return, no forms inside the actual packet. It had instructions on booking the medical and the checklist sheet but that was it. We had already filled out the required forms so we are not too bothered by it, however it did leave us wondering the same thing.

Hmm, I got no instructions for how to book the medical/a checklist, just the letter with weblinks.. I hope just going to the website for the forms will be enough

Now I am concerned for us both because it seems like they are just sending out random stuff. I might have to start calling and finding out what is going on.

  15. Thank you everyone that is so helpful to know. We are so nervous about doing everything just right and trying to figure out all the expenses. We didn't want to schedule the medical until we knew what we are up against. Now I can calm down some and start thinking more clear. Everytime I think we know how things are going to go I hear some horrible story on here that makes me worry we will do something wrong. It is very comforting to know that people go to the medical and things go smooth. Now I can be more excited than nervous.

Go take a look at the top in the pinned section for the London medical and it will tell you exactly what to expect. Try and get the jabs required at the doctors as they dont charge but they do at the medical, and take the vaccination records to the medical and if you have had chicken pox get them to put that on the letter as well

Hey where will you be in Texas I am moving to Dallas

Right now I am in San Marcos which we intend to move out of as soon as possible. Dallas is lovely and much better for jobs. I am in the healthcare field so we will either be relocating to Dallas ourselves or Houston. Moving is on hold until we get all the paperwork settled which is exciting and scary.

  17. I was wondering for those who recently went to their medical exams did they require a Hep A and Hep B vaccines. We have looked the list of vaccines and got his records but still confused as to if he has to have them for the visa requirement now. I was to understand that it those two are only required for AOS but I just want someone who actually went through the process to confirm. We are worrying over all the little things at this point.

  18. Congrats Ranchris and colinjess :star: It is so wonderful to hear of approvals. Things will hopefully move much faster now, or seem faster considering how long the NOA2 took. We finally got the last few documents together and now are just waiting for our interview date. It is an amazing feeling for us both after almost 5 years we are finally going to be together. Good luck to everyone who is waiting.
