Hello my vjfamily!
I am just wondering why until now I am not getting any interview appointment. There are some applicants who filed applications for AOS last June 2009 but they already got their interview appointment. I filed mine last June 24, 2009.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hello my VJ family! I just got e-mail from CRIS informing about my "Card Production". Thank God, I can finally have my EAD card soon, after all the waiting.
Do you guys have any idea, how long will actually take for my card to arrive. CRIS said, it will probably take 30 days but is there anyone who has received their EAD earlier than what is stated by USCIS?
Once I have my EAD, I can now apply for a job. I just miss working. And it's been 4 months now since I left my previous job way back in the Philippines.
To God be the glory!

Greetings to all,
Doug here. Well Dylan and I couldn't be any happier.....things are going great...just issues with the paperwork and AOS stuff. So Dylan entered this country on Jun 30th via Chicago. We married without problem here in the US on July 7th. We applied for a social security number on July 9th. At that time we were told she was not showing up in the system yet..and that it normally takes two weeks.....( she had only been in the country for 8 days at that point ) ..so we should have her social mailed to us in about a month.
We stopped by today to check on the status ...( at the local social security office ) .and they can't verify her in the system still as of yet. Now today the lady said...we usually tell people it may take two weeks to show up...but it actually can take 30-45 days. I can't really complain cuz Dylan is here with me..but you guys know you REALLY need a SSN here for just about anything. They agreed to put her on my medical insurance today without one..but said they need it asap.
Also just a funny story to add........ one time i decided to call the number they gave us on a piece of paper from the Social Security office..to try and check the status that way. Our paper has a reference number that you need to use for security purposes. One worker there told us to just call and use that number and we could check the status no problem........... however I got a girl there on the phone that kept insisting that I giver her Dylan's social security number to get any information. I actually had to say to her.. " listen to what your telling me...and tell me yourself if it makes sense..my wife is TRYING to get a social security number..yet you keep telling me I must give you her social security number in order to find out if she's getting a social security number.........
As always Godspeed to those on this journey......
Ahhhhhhhh gotta love working with government offices...
Douglas
There is no way you can contact SS Office or in case you are lucky enough to speak to an officer, expect she/he would not know what actually is the subject you are talking about.
I've been dealing with SS Officers for two months now coz I have issue too. Unfortunately, no feedback from them. Next thing I know my I-94 already expired.

Not sure if USCIS Local Office is strict or will they allow me if I bring my husband with me during my biometrics for my EAD and AOS?
-
Hello my vj family!
As far as i know I should bring ID when I take my biometrics. Is my passport sufficient enough? Will USCIS local office still going to require me to show additional ID since passport and my driver's license issued in the Philippines are the IDs I got.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
God bless

My daughter's Phai(Faith her real name) got her EAD card in mail last tuesday & yesterday we went to SSA office applied her ssn so she can start job hunting already. It took 33 days for her EAD to approve. isnt it quite fast? Thanks to the nice Filipino officer in uscis who i talked & help me. I forget his ID no. but whoever he was i thank him for his quick assistance. We both got our EAD card almost the same day.
I'm happy for you ate malou.

Hi there my vj family!
I wanted to get your input. Few weeks back I went to SS Office to apply for my SSN but immigration have encoded my name incorrectly. I went to immigration via infopass and discussed my problem. What immigration did, they have handed me the G-845S. This should be filled up by SS Office. I headed to SS Office, but according to the officer I spoke to, she had already sent G-845S to immigration twice, yet til now no feedback from immigration.
What if my I-94 expires, can i just submit my EAD to SS Office to get a SS number. I have just recently sent my applications for EAD and AOS. Hopefully, once I get my EAD I can present this to SS Office.
If the I=94 expires you will have to wait for the EAD.
I always add...
For K-1 visas...get your SSN the day after you arrive in the name exactly as in your passport and avoid this non-sense. You can change the name after you get the green card if you so desire.
Thanks for the input.
My mistake, I should have went to SS Office the day after I arrived but I was so excited with the preparation of the wedding. I got carried away. Now, i was extremely surprised when I knew that immigration had my name incorrect. Sad part is that no reply from their office. Infopass did not contribute any help. Even SS Office has no courage to help me. All they want me to do is to sit and watch my I-94 expires. I kept calling the USCIS truckline, all they can say is "there is nothing we can do".
Now I think I am enforced to wait for my EAD.
God bless

Hello there! I just sent my application last week. Sadly, I did get a chance to have my SSN coz immigration has encoded my name in the database incorrectly. However, I did not have to wait for the issuance of my SS Card. I have proceeded to my AOS application.
I hope we wont encounter problem with our journey.
God bless to everybody!

No. Just put "To be determined" or something to that effect.
Thanks.
Another thing, how will I answer the part 7: "On a separate sheet(s) of paper, please explain how you qualify for an advance parole document and what circumstances warrant
issuance of advance parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered

Hello my vj family!
I am now finalizing my application form for the Application for Travel Document (I-131). I came across this part 3 "Processing Informing". It asks the date of intended departure and expected length of trip.
My question is, do I need to put an exact date when i am going to travel. Actually, my purpose of applying for the AP is just in case there is a need for me to travel to the Philippine such as emergency situation. Other than that, I don't intend on coming back in the Philippines.
Thank very much for your time.
God bless.

Hi my vj family.
Two weeks ago I went to SS Office. I was advised they can't issue me ss card because immigration has spelled my name incorrectly. The SS officer has sent letter to immigration requesting to correct my name. This morning, I pay a visit to SS Office to check if everything went good. To my surprise, immigration hasn't doing anything. And so my application for my ss card is being pre-empted. Now, SS officer advised she will send letter AGAIN to immigration.
My concern is my I-94 will about to expire on July.
I called USCIS Office and brought my issue. Sad to say, the USCIS officer said that she can't do anything about it. All I need to do is go directly to my USCIS local office via infopass. What exactly is INFOPASS? How will I go about this?
I will appreciate your brilliant ideas and advice.
Thanks!
God bless to all.

I got my medical examination in the Philippines. Per instruction of USCIS, KI visa holder must submit vaccination supplement when applying for AOS. What is this? Where can I get this?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
God bless.

So you're saying your visa was issued with an incorrect spelling of your name? or something else?
(The advice of obtaining the SS card in your maiden name is good advice.)
my visa is fine and has a correct name.
I am not sure how the error got happened. What I am guessing is when I have surrendered my K-1 packet in my port of entry. I had an interview there with the immigration officer. Perhaps he was typing then and was encoded my name incorrect.
Since I have already apply for my ssn. My question is do I still have to worry about the expiration of my I-94?

Hello my vj family.
I went to Social Security Office to apply for SSN. SSA found out that immigration has encoded my name incorrect :ranting: Now they need to write the immigration to correct my name
Is there anyone who has an idea when can I receive my SSN. As far as I know this is being mailed. Also, the officer have advised me to used my maiden name. AFter i have applied for AOS and working permit, I need to go back to SSA to request to change my surname.
My I-94 will expiire on third week of July. What if immigration office would not have an immediate feedback to SSA regarding the correction of my name.
Now I am starting to worry

- I was already married a week ago. You think I may encounter problem that I will be applying my SSN after my marriage? It is that card stapled in your passport "Departure Record" Marked "I-94"It is NOT a work permit, and does NOT allow work authorization. K-1 checks Legal alien allowed to work even though they do not have evidence of work authorization.
After you marry you file to adjust status and along with AOS you file an I-765 for a Work Permit (EAD Card) only with an EAD CARD or Green-card can you work.
