We're from the San Francisco office ... our interview was April 19th and approved. I checked online everyday. On May 1st, it got updated to: "On May 1, 2012, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled"

I hope i can still get into the May 9th ceremony because the next one is May 30th! tooooo long!!!

Got my IL yesterday. Interview will be on April 19th.... The Interview Letter itself says to bringn your spouse's birth cert, naturalization cert, or CERTIFICATE OF CITIZENSHIP.

The attached INTERVIEW DOCUMENT CHECKLIST, however, section 3A says to bring: "... birth certificate, naturalization certificate, certificate of citizenship, your spouse's valid US passport, or Form FS240....."

Now..my citizenship certificate is in storage in a safe somewhere in another city. it'll cost about $300 to go fly there and get it. My passport is readily handy. Does anyone know why one paper says to bring Cert of Citizenship, while another says Valid US Passport will do?

If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from March 15, 2012, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

Hi Serenity and Calibound.... are you guys eligible already? My eligibility date is March 29th (although we're allowed to mail in applications 90 days before, which is why I mailed it in already) SOOOO... maybe thats why they havent put me in line for scheduling yet??

Oh no..SERENITY and CALIBOUND both got notifications, and I didn't! 3 of us have pretty much the same timeline. I hope this doesnt have anything to do with doing fingerprints in a different state. They said it was linked via a national/online database so it shouldnt make a difference. WAAAAAHHHH!

Did the early biometrics in a totally different city (and state!) Atlanta instead of San Francisco - no problemo we just walked right in

now the waiting game for the appointment interview begins!!

On February 9, 2012, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. Please check the website for further updates on your case. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

Congrats! I wonder how long it takes from the time they "place you in line for interview scheduling" to:

1) the time they mail you the letter / the time you get the letter in the mail

2) the interview date

ive seen some in other threads wait months from the time they got "placed in line for interview scheduling" to the time they actually get a date. Others got the letter in a week or two. hmmmm....

I am just wondering If you are thinking to send her N-400 while she is out of the country, what are you planning to write in N-400 about her trips? I mean that question in the application about the trips she had taken, as well as the numbers of the days she had been out of the county. How do you guy plan to count her current trip if she is still on that trip?

if she just left a few days or a week or so ago, you can date the application on the day she left. my husband filled out all his forms and signed and dated it a good 2 or 3 weeks before we actually mailed it in (because we were waiting for the marriage certificate copy from overseas, and when that came - we didnt want to have to print out the page and sign it again just to change a date)

Hi Jupiter, what did your interview letter say to take with you to the interview?

We put together everything for the N400 of my husband, but all we have in the PROOF section is 3 years of tax returns (our copies, not the IRS tax transcript copies)

I guess I can get IRS copies and bring it to the interview if necessary, but as far as mailing in evidence, all we have aside from the marriage certificate is many years of joint returns. We've been married since 2004, he filed for and got green card in 2009, and eligible to file for citizenship this year.

We have separate bank accounts, we live with his parents (house is under his parents name) so no mortgage, etc. Cars are under his name. We have a small business, its under my name as a LLC.

The only thing I have is Geico car insurance which lists us both

any ideas?

I processed my parents i-131, i-485, etc and their interview for the green card is in a few weeks. I was wondering what I need to bring (besides what they put in the NOA checklist)

When I did my spouse interview, everyone said to bring albums, wedding photos, joint bills, etc.

I didnt see any threads of what to bring for PARENTS interview. Any tips?

Happy 4th of July!!

I'm a US Citizen sponsoring my dad. I filled out the I-864, and submitted the past 3 years Tax Return which shows income well above the poverty line. However, its a "married filing jointly" taxreturn of me and my husband. My husband is the one working and getting a W2 (i'm a "housewife"). Does my husband need to fill out an I-864A? Initially, i thought NOT, because my name is on the tax return as well. however, i'm having second thoughts.

My husband said he would rather not fill it out, if not necessary.

What do you think?

I'm a US Citizen, and did the whole I-130/I-485 etc for my spouse in Dec. 2008 and by March 2009 he already got his green card. (he was already in USA)

I was thinking of doing the same for my parents, who are already in the USA on an investors visa for the past 10 years and decided to retire soon because they're getting old. Does it take roughly 3 months as well? I tried looking for the "steps" to do it, but they dont have any pinned guidelines like they do when you petition your spouse.

In SF, they dont stamp your passport, plus, they take your AP document, so you cant travel til you receive the actual card. (Or, you can travel and have someone Fedex the card to you at your destination once it arrives) ..but that could be risky if the card dosent arrive (gets lost in the mail, or whatever)

We had our interview yesterday, and the interviewer told us, if we had a baby (and we dont) then it would be a "SLAM DUNK" (yeah, his words!)

so i suppose it should be +1000 points if you have a baby!

we just did our interview yesterday, my husband was on a tourist visa and we did an AOS from that... no probs whatsoever (it does help that he was never out of status and has been using his tourist visa heavily the past 3 years)

anyway, the interviewer didnt even ask a single question about the tourist visa, mostly just about our marriage.

Congrats, I have my AOS interview tomorrow. I am new to the site. I will post how our interview went. Is a AOS from tourist visa interview so could be an interesting one.

Anybody know or ever heard how interview for tourist AOS went? What not to say? etc...

We just did our interview today. my hubby did an AOS from a tourist visa (see my timeline)

Anyway, the interviewer did not mention the tourist visa even once! he just was mostly interested in how we met, about our families, etc.

We had our green card interview today and were approved! Yesssss! At the end of the interview, he said CONGRATULATIIONS and gave us a piece of paper stating It'll come within 30 days in the mail.

Our interview was scheduled for 745AM, so we got there at 730AM, waited around...

750AM they called us in and grilled us for 30 minutes! (Based on other reviews here, we thought it would be only a 10 minute quickie interview..but not the case for us)

We've been married 5 years, so he opened up our album and had each of us name random people in the group photos... some of which i couldnt even remember (some random relative of my husband's in our wedding reception, and another random high school classmate of my husband's in the wedding reception again! agggh!) Anyway, its not like the interviewer had an answer key...so he said I did well enough..

He grilled my husband (the green card applicant) about his parents names, where he was born, blah blah... then he asked me where we met, and when, and other details about how we met and how we got married. Then, he said to show joint bank statements, since we did not have a lease (live with parents) We didnt have any! We just had a letter from the bank stating we had a joint account (not the actual statement). I showed credit card statements and car insurance with both our names..but they were the "most recent statements" ..he wanted 6 month old statements. agggh! nowhere in the letter did it say we had to bring 6 month old statement..so I told him i would login to my American express online in his computer , but he said never mind..then told us to wait, while he took all my files and album with him and ran off somewhere.

after 3 mins or so, he came back and said our marriage looks bonafide, and that we're approved! yay!! this was easier than i thought, he gave us NO HASSLES nor Questions whatsoever about my husband doing an AOS from a tourist visa!

Anyway, had we gone through a lawyer, we would have been charged over $3,500! Thanks to everyone here at visajourney, we can keep the $3500 and go shopping to celebrate instead.

i think the most logical choice would be to go to your interview on the 13th, then fly to Costa Rica immediately after the interview to make it in time for your wedding on the 14th. You can use advanced parole to get back into the USA after your wedding
