  1. CONGRADS idealistix, scully and CrystalBlue for getting approved for your green card and hope you guys celebrate :dance: Thanks for sharing your interview experience with us CrystalBlue and glad to hear that you got approved eventhough your IO was giving you a hard time about your name.

Thanks Canadianmade, I am just glad the whole USICS ordeal is over for a while. I hope you hear some good news sometime soon. Hang in there.

  2. Its been a while since I logged on here.. Congrats for the tons of approval that have taken place. I had my AOS interview on 20th April in Newark NJ. The interview was scheduled for 10.30am but we were called in at 9.45.

I am one of those people whose parents had not decided on a name when I was born, they knew what my middle name was but had not decided on a first name. My birth certificate has just my middle name my parents decided on a name a couple of weeks later. All through my 28 years of living, my official docs have my first name and surname, I always initialize my middle name.. long story short, the interview officer questioned my name. As soon as we sat down in his cubicle, he asked me what my first name was I told him my first name and then he asked for my original birth certificate and asked why it has a different name one there…. I explained that my parents had not decided on a name for me when the certificate was issued. He insisted that there is no prove that I am the same person.. and asked me for any official document that have my names on there … I showed my passport, it has all three names spelt out, all my visas to Britain and the USA have all three names spelt out. He was not satisfied with that and I was getting livid…. I explained that all through my years of living I have gone by my first name and showed him my undergraduate diploma and masters diploma with my three names spelt out as well.. Long story short, he said I should do something to my birth certificate or change my name to what is indicated on my birth certificate…

He then asked my husband the names of my parents, when I came to the states, where I lived before we met, my phone number etc. He asked me the names of his parents and how long he has been working in his current job. He asked for joint documents we do not have much together besides out joint filed taxes and health insurance.. .We have taken a trips together and had pictures taken against known monuments. He took out one picture and asked if he could file it and took my I-94 and stapled it to my file. He went one to say that I should sort out the name issue before I apply for the permanent residency. Our case was approved. I am glad to be done with that this for a while.

Interestingly, I was not asked the "have you ever" questions… hummmmmm! I have received the welcome to America letter and got an email from CRIS that my case was approved..

  3. It is very interesting how things turn out..... I received my EAD today, contacted my consulting firm and I was offered an IT position in a different state... (Four hours away from where I am) I am so torn on whether I should accept it or it or not considering I do not have the GC interview yet..... the pay is freaking awesome , the seventy something days I have been without a job will be paid off in a couple of months... My hubby supports my decision and thinks I should accept it.. How will it look to USCIS???

There are so many things I should consider... the hiring freeze etc...... what to do people? :help:

  4. hi everyone,

It really sucked, when I got the message from CRIS I completely thought, oh my god yes, here is my EAD but I was speechless and then a few minutes later more updates all the same for all the forms. I don't get it? I have not read anyone having all 3 filings asking for evidence and at the same time. And how could they send you an interview letter if they still need evidence to process our applications. I just have to wait for the mail and see what it is, I hope we get it by the weekend cause i will go crazy not that i am not now.

This is absurd, this is the first that I have read of such a RFE> under normal circumstances you would not have an interview date until they are satisfied with the the information they have. Most probably they lost your documents..I am sorry for this.. hopefully you will send whatever it is they need as soon as possible.....Hang in there.

  8. We called USCI to get a service request.......We are supposed to get a biometrics appt within 45 days. Hopefully its wayyy less than that. Also we sent in our information needed for the RFE in the AOS but we have not recieved a letter that they recieved it. We did however get a delivery confirmation though. We didnt get the signed confirmation notice just the notice that it got there. I am worried that it may be lost or something. Maybe not but I am wondering if I should or could send another copy of everything to them again just incase? Or maybe they havent gotten to our RFE information yet?

When you sent in the RFE, did you check your case online? It should say "Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed." If not, you need to follow up maybe call and ask if they received your documents or resend the whole package with copies of your NOA for their reference.

  9. Ok so I forgot to turn in my Medical Screening paper work. Its being work now though as fast as I can. Now my question is...How long will they keep your case on hold before throwing it out? I received an RFE and am a little worried. Please help the doctors office is taking forever.

From my understanding the RFE letter will state how long you have to furnish the information before the case is rendered closed. They will give you a fair amount of time to respond; ~ 87 days or more depending on what kind of evidence they need. Hope this helps!

  10. Thanks CanadianMade. Fingers crossed. Congrats to those who have moved to the NOA or biometrics.

Thanks bro, I hope you do get your NOA's in the mail today. Thanks for the congrads man and good luck to you.

I have been following this thread since I sent in my applications to the Chicago lock box on the 28th of October. Canadianmade- We have the same timeframe.

I received my biometrics appointment letter on 11/10/2008 and scheduled for 11/28/2008. Based on the various successful walk in attempts posted here, I decided to give it a try today. Success! I am all done, it was quite easy. I gave my appointment letter to the security guard, he gave it a look and pointed to my appointment date and informed me that I should talk to somebody first. I was directed to an open office and the gentleman asked why I wanted to get my biometrics done today, I told him that I did not know where I would be on the appointment day  he then said he has had worse excuses. He took my appointment letter to a closed office and came out two seconds later and just scribbled 'ok' on my form and I was handed an application form to fill out. 15 mintues later I was driving back home. Hopefully this will quicken my AOS process.
