  1. Hi all,

My wife's k3 has been approved, she has an interview on Feb 09, I just called the NVC two days ago, they have also recd the approved I130 and they are now processing it, I am confused now? My wife wants to enter the U.S as a permenant resident, Should she just go ahead and take the k3 interview and if she gets the k3 visa, can she just wait for the I130 to arrive to the consulate also and than wait for the I130 interview so that she can enter the U.S as a permenant resident? She really wants to enter the U.S as a permenant resident but doesn't want to miss the k3 interview either.

I read somewhere in the forum that if the I130 gets approved just before the k3 interview, the k3 interview becomes the CR1 interview. I want to know how does it happen? what's the procedure?

I hope someone has the time to explain.

    thanks all

  2. Hey all,

My wife's K3 has been approved and we have recd the paperwork from the embassy in Pak, It contains some forms including I 134 affidavit of support, but it doesn't say anything about the minimum income req ( poverty guide line ) I have two children dependents and I make around $20,000. Not sure what are the correct requirments on I 134 and what to do,

  3. I think the K3 gets cancelled when they interview for the CR1/IR1....could be wrong about that

There is a couple on here that got the K3 and soon after decided to go with the CR1. They had to wait several months for the K3 to be processed after it was approved, so they thought the CR1 would go right through. It didn't. They ended up having to wait another 5 months for checks after it was approved.

If there is a chance the consulate will close in the middle of your AP, I would not risk it...just my opinion.

    Thanks for the reply

SO, I should just go ahead with the K3 and leave rest for later

  4. Hey All,

Our K3 got approved last month, last week I130 also got approved, I wanna bring my wife to the U.S on a green card, but on the other side I also don't want to waste the K3.

Is It possible that we go thru the k3 route, get the visa and than instead of travelling just wait for the I 130 to be processed, get the I 130 visa also and then come to the U.S.

The reason behind all this is that k3 process is faster and we could end up having a visa by next month, whereas I 130 process is slower and it could take upto several months. I wanna get the k3 visa just to be on the safe side and then wait for the I 130 visa to be processed as political situation is not very good in Pak and I fear that if the situation gets worsen, the U.S Consulate may decide to close for an unlimited period.

I guess that will explain my situation, the bottom line is " is it possible to get a k3 visa and than instead of travelling to the U.S just wait for the I130 to be processed abroad"?
