  1. Another interesting thing happens in our lives...

Husband wants to go vacationing. He says to pick between Cancun and China, because he found some good deals. Wife says let me think. However husband meanwhile decides on China because it is a "great deal" and can't let it go. Wife doesn't want to go to China. But husband decides he will still go with his mom. I am fine with that. He has a good job and he has to right to explore the world.

Is "separate vacations" going to ruin our marriage? This is not the first time is doing it. Is he selfish for doing this? What do you guys think?

    thanks

  2. Thanks everyone for all the replies.

The idea of buying something for me at his next birthday is very good but I don't think I am going to do this, just because it is not in my nature.

I have a job and I make ok money so I am going to get a laptop. I have wanted this for a long time, but never got it because I always thought about saving money and thought Christmas was a good situation. But after seeing him spending so much money each months on his hobbies, I decided I am not going to sacrifice anymore.

Last year my brother in law bought me UGG for Christmas and my husband made him return them, so I never saw them, but my husband told me the story. When I asked him why he made him return them, he said that I don't need them. Anyway I am just trying to point out that most of the stuff is bought is this family is for him or his hobbies, which has been fine for all these years. What bothers me is that he is buying all this without consulting with me and I only find out about this from seeing the check book, or credit card bill. I always consult with him if it is over 100 or 200 dollars, but he never consults with me. So the wii game, I see it that it was something we should have talked about this.

Last month I said I wanted a car - a used one. Because one of our cars is 24 years old and is breaking all the time. And he told me that he doesn't want to buy a car because he is afraid I am going to leave him. I told him that me having a car it doesn't mean that I am leaving or me not having the car means that I am staying. I think it is so childish to think that owning a car means you are leaving someone. We have been married 5+ and it looks like he doesn't know me yet. I have been in the us for 4 years and I have worked 3+ and I thought I deserved a nice good care. But I gave in and I let him have his way.

  3. My husband and I are having big issues because of the Christmas gift. Here is what happened..........he got me a wii game. When I saw the present the first thing I said was lets return it. He really got mad and said we are not going to return this. Then I said this present you bought it for you. I have always wanted a laptop but instead you bought this game for you. Then he said the he can't never please me and he always loses. This was in front of all his family about 12 ppl.

This morning when I woke up, he started installing the game. I said you cant play with this because this is my game. He did not let go of it. But I took it anyway. And from my perspective this is the second year when he bought a present for me but actually it was for himself.

THe reason I am mad is because I think that he bought this present even though I have always wanted a computer. Plus he always buys expensive item 500 to 1500 dollars items without consulting with me and his credit card is about 3000 dollars a month.

So what do you think I should do?

    thanks

    thanks

  5. I have to appear for an interview for my citizenship in 2 weeks. However I received 2 requests to appear for the interview. One of them said to bring my spouse's passport, naturalization certificate or birth certificate. The other one said to bring only the birth certificate or naturalization certificate. No word about the passport. The second letter came letter. I was planning on taking on the passport only, but now I am worried that they accept only the birth certificate. I thought I was ok with passport only???

    Thanks

  6. Hello

Sorry I haven't paid much attention to the previous posts, so maybe this has been answered before.

I am soon to have my citizenship interview. I am planning to apply for a US passport. I wonder what documents I need for that and where can I apply? Post office?

Also I read that I need to go to the Social Security and have my status changed from permanent resident to citizen. What docs do I need for that?

    Thanks

  7. Has anybody have an experience with a rescheduled intreview for the Naturalization interview. I got the interview letter, but I had already purchased a ticket to visit my home country, so I won't be able to appear for the interview. How long do you think is going to take them to reschedule?

    thanks a lot

  8. My husband and I live fairly close to my parents in law. We visit them pretty often. And that is ok with me. They are nice people. However since my MIL retired, most of our trips are with them. My husband always asks me if it is ok to take them with us places. And I do not want to create a problem so I say yes, and also we can split the cost of the trip. However we travel mostly by car and she always wants to sit in the front seat, because she has a back pain. So this means that I get screwed and have to sit in the back with my PIL. However he started to "have a bad back", so he only can ride in the front. If I mention that I want to sit in the front they will let me have it, but they kind of make me feel that they need to be there. Do you think that I overreact if I say that this is a problem?

    thanks

  9. Today I was at work working when I get this phone call from my father in law. He says that he wants to tell me a story. A couple of weeks ago I gave him and my MIL a bag of candy. He told me that he found 5 aluminum covers from that candy under the windscreen wiper of his truck. He did not ask me weather I put it there or not, but I suspected that he called me to ask me if I had done that. Whilst I did not say if I did it or not, I was surprised that he asked me that!!!! I have never had a weird or strange behaviour or nothing in my behavior would suggest that I would do anything like that. He also said that he is going to call a neighbour who was in his house to see if he had done that.

It kind of bothered me that phone call because to me it does not seem that important to call people and ask if they did that. It seems rather weird that he is wasting time calling people. Anyway he barely ever calls me and we have an ok relationship, but we barely ever talk on the phone.

What do you think? It is ok for me to be worried?

  10. I have had the same job for the last 3 years which was a temporary position for a government agency. However I only work 9 month is a year. When I fill the naturalization form it asks for the employment. Do I have to write 3 times the name of the agency and the dates or just write in one row the name of the agency and put three dates?

    Thank you

  13. I like

-shopping here because there are so many choices like Target, Walmart, Kohls, Ross, Macy's, etc. Plus you can return almost everything.

-food also because there are so many choices mexican, chinese, thai, vietnamese, italian, basque, etc

    -highways and freeways

-I also like that medicine is better than most of the other countries and I feel more confident seeing a doctor here than in my home country

    I don't like

-people. I think people don't socialize here a lot, but they care more about how much money they make or what car they drive. Also I think that people curse too much here!

-big distances like I can go nowhere without the car

-that everywhere I go people asks how I am but nobody actually cares how I am

  14. I applied for I751 last year. In December I got a letter which extends my green card for 1 year - travel and work. So this means it is good till January 2008. However I haven't get anything else yet. I am worried that they might call us for an interview/deny it since my husband and I have a small problem in our paperwork. I plan to go to my home country for a month in September. What will happen if while I am gone they deny our case? Can I still get into the country with the extension letter? Has anyone heard of a story like this? My husband believes that I will not have any problem even if they deny it since I have the extension letter but to me it seems a serious problem and I am very afraid to go. Thank you! Heartbeat

  15. Long story short

I had a seasonal position and I got laid off. My husband said to apply for unemployment which I did. Later I received from them a handbook and I realized I do not qualify for it. So I called EDD and let them know that I am leaving the country and do not qualify for the benefit. They told me not to send the claim form and they will consider that I gave up. So I did not send them.

So I went to my home country to visit my family for 5 weeks. While I was there my husband called me said that EDD sent the claim forms and that he sent them back,. But did not requested the money and that he got blank checks..

After 5 weeks came back to CA. And I was called for an interview with EDD.I told them that I was out of country and found out that my husband filed the claim forms and signed them and actually asked for the money. He actually got 3 checks worth of about 1000. He then signed my name cashed the checks.

After this I got a letter in the mail from EDD stating that I will not be able to get benefit for the next 3 years and I that did not give the correct information.

In a couple of weeks I have to file 751 form for remove conditions and I do not know what to answer to the q if I ever committed a crime!!!!

    thanks

  17. Yes it is an immigration forum, but what would happen if everyone would write a post in his own language? So I think that people who are going to move to US and are going to live with their new US spouse in US should at least try to speak and write English. out of respect

    anyway congrat for IR 1

    bye
