  1. Many people don't have a lease and if they do, it's not jointly so it doesn't really matter as long as you have other strong evidence.

I think the best thing would be to stay put where you are until you get your green card if you can. That way you won't have to change your address with the USCIS and risk the chance of losing your green card in the mail.

As far as waiting, I think the only thing would be to keep your fingers crossed for them to approve your AOS after your 2nd wedding anniversary, that way you will be eligible to receive your 10 year green card and not the conditional one.

Thanks a lot! So does this mean that if i reschedule my interview till after our 2 anniversary i might have a chence to get my 10 year green card rightaway?

The only "IF" is whether you can reschedule. If the LPR status is granted on or after the two-year anniversary of the marriage, you WILL get a 10 year green card. If they mistakenly do otherwise, the mistake can be corrected.

Thanx a lot! I'll talk to the lawer today

  3. My American husband and i have been married for almost 2 years now (it's going to be 2 years in Sept). I filed for my temporary green card just this January, because we were both working and moving around the country a lot, right now we are staying at his parents house in VA. So both of us are not on a lease and we basically don't have an evidence of living together. We've got mutual property, mutual medical insurance, mutual cell-phone contracts and lot's of pictures from different vacations and weddings. But nothing to prove that we are actually living together.

I might get an invitation for my first green card interview in July. But already in August we are moving to SF and getting our own place there. So my two questions are:

1)Should i change the date and place of my interview, and go for it in SF, when we'll already have a lease for our own place? Does it worth waiting?

2)Is there a chance to get a permanent green card if i go for an interview after September, after our two years anniversary?

What about letters and cards addressed to both of you?? thats an evidence too of you living together.

Oh yes! We've got mutual bank statements coming in on this address and DMV papers for car we both own and stuff like that. I just thought that this is something you can pretty much fake really easy so it wouldn't help on the interview since we don't have an actual lease.

  6. Hello!

I'm married to american guy. I mailed my papers a month ago and am going for biometrics soon. We just recently purchased a car together and we own it together. I hadn't included any evidence of mutual property in my packages so i'm thinking maybe i should go ahead and mail this paper to DHS asking them to adjust it to my case.

Does it make any sense? Should i do that?

  7. Hello!

My husband and I live together at his father’s house. This is our mailing address. But both of us are not on a lease for that house, we don’t own it, my husband pays rent to his father in cash.

There is no way to tell father that we got married and we need to get some kind of a document for that house from him. My husband is on the last year of University and we can’t really afford to move out.

I’m filing my petition for the Alien Card right now. Is that going to be a big problem for us?

I’m sending a lot of papers like Tax Back forms, bank statements, gym memberships, cell-phone bills that we receive on this exact address. Thinking may be that could help us out.

  8. Hello! Need your help!!!

I’ve been charged with misdemeanor shop lifting while in the US. My case was dismissed, nole, no contribution. A month ago it was expunged.

I am married to American citizen and am applying for Alien Card right now.

Can this record be a reason of the denial of my petition?

Should I mention it on my paper work since it’s been expunged?

You may not believe me, but I was totally not guilty for that incident. My friend was shoplifting and I just happened to be there with him. However there was no way to prove my innocence. And now I’m really worried that it might affect my future with someone I really love.

So please, if you have any information on this case, I will appreciate your help so much!
