well, i tried using the national ID for NVC, and they rejected it because it was the copy. so my husband went out and got a letter from the authorities that serves as a birth certificate. but it's gonna take a while to get here because he's in the northern region [no postal service!] that's what sucks so that's the only thing that's holding my case at NVC, otherwise it would have been completed by now! let's just hope he gets an interview soon!

yes! i heard this also. i checked on their website and i emailed the US embassy in kabul asking if they issue out immigrant visas also. however, they said they only issue out non-immigrant visas as of recently. i think if our husbands applied for a non-immigrant visa, they would probably be denied because they are going through the immigrant visa process.

also, they have to prove that they will be returning back to afghanistan and are not planning on staying longer than their intended visit. so, no help for us ):

btw, did your husband obtain a birth certificate? nvc wanted my husband's original national ID, which is impossible, so he had to get a sworn affidavit from the authorities.

so i finally talked to an nvc operator about my husband's original birth certificate. i explained that it's impossible for my husband to obtain a birth certificate, no matter how many times they tell me they need it, because literally the authorities will laugh if you ask for a birth certificate [there are really no records of births except for those born recently].

the operator asked if i had sent in a copy or original copy of my husband's identification and i told him i sent in a copy. and he said that's why i received an RFE and i need to send in the original. so then i had to explain how he won't be able to do anything without his ID and he'll go through so many hassles and they won't issue another one. so he just told me to write a letter and explain the situation and most likely it will be accepted. and i confirmed this with another nvc operator so i've got my fingers crossed! (:

You guys will never believe this....we over nighted our RFE I-864 package to NVC and they just received it. Then I go and check the AVR and it says that they're requesting MORE information!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a total meltdown........so much for an April interview at this rate.......

Seriously my husband and my father-in-law have the same names, except different middle names. I really feel like they're screwing up with both of their information. My husband didn't have to file for taxes b/c he was in school, so we proved why, proved he was in school, and proved his dad claimed him for all 3 years. Anyways, my father in law makes way over the poverty line so we're good to go financially with him as our 'support'.

I sent in SO much information. Another RFE? I'm like a case out of history, this never happens with NVC

Any light to shine on this guys?!??!

....by the way, do you think speaking with an operator or a supervisor will help? I have a strong feeling they've mixed up hubby & father in law's info....

lovehappenss - is your case almost complete or are you tentatively waiting for an rfe? (crossing my fingers you won't have to have one!) i really hope ours won't slow us down too much. i don't want to wait until may to have an interview though! april is just SO close!

A&R - you'll get it soon! i was so fed up with a constant busy signal i told myself I'd just have to wait for it to come in the mail. it came really, really quick. so keep tabs on your waiting time and definitely do NOT wait any more than two weeks! good luck!

Moosker - well i had sent in all of my documents, and the operator told me i left a line blank [oops haha] and they said one of the I-864's i was supposed to send in wasnt there, which it WAS, lol. i'm also hoping for an april interview, but i wouldn't mind a may one because i would love to go with my husband to his interview (:

Moosker - i'm also hoping for an april interview! (: yeah NVC totally skipped over the I-864A and said it was missing. so i asked the operator to have one of the supervisors review it so i won't have to re-send the papers (: good luck with it though! (:

A & R - NVC operators are told by their supervisors to NOT give out the IIN. i asked about a million times and they wouldn't give it to me, so i just waited it out. it came in the mail a few days later though.

I'm still not impressed with an RFE for something I know with all of my heart we sent in....they're asking for 2007 tax returns. I sent in 2005, 2006, and 2007. That's just a little frustrating! If the RFE the NVC sent you doesn't make a ton of sense, can you call the NVC to ask for more clarification from the operators? Just wondering if anyone has done that....

yeah the operator told me that the person who reviewed my I-864 didn't find my mom's I-864A, which i know i sent in because it was stapled to the back of my father's, so they obviously missed it lol. also, the operator i spoke to went into full detail about what the RFE was for, but just told me to wait for the RFE in the mail. i hope this is over with soon! (:

i had a question about sending in my original marriage certificate with the ds-230. i only have my original and no certified copies. and the government in afghanistan doesn't have a copy of the marriage certificate, just in their records that my husband and i are married. would it be okay to send in a copy of my marriage certificate and a letter explaining the situation? i'm not sure if they'll give the marriage certificate back to my husband when he goes to the interview.

i called NVC a few minutes ago asking about the police clearance and birth certificate. my husband has been running around all of kabul trying to get a police certificate but they won't issue him one. so NVC told me that since afghanistan's police records are unavailable, he doesn't need one. i asked about the birth certificate also since no hospital would issue him one, and they said just send in his afghan national ID (:

phew. that's a load off our chest.

i don't think it would be that easy to get a sworn affidavit from his mom because she's in a completely different province than him. i could ask his father for one if that would work. if that doesn't work i guess i can send NVC explaining the situation and send in his national ID instead.

hello everyone!

i had a question regarding the birth certificate my husband has to send in with the ds-230. the problem is he doesn't have a birth certificate. afghanistan doesn't issue out birth certificates unless requested and they have just started to issue birth certificates to newborns. so should i write a letter and send it in to NVC with the ds-230 explaining the situation or should my husband try and obtain a birth certificate, which would probably be impossible. he does have an afghan form of identification that i can send in if that will do.

btw does anyone know whether or not islamabad embassy allows the spouse to attend the interview also? just wondering!

I called in today to see what step NVC is on in my case. the operator told me that they're preparing things to set up the interview abroad so hopefully that's soooonnnn! (:

i emailed the ds-3032 last night but no automated response. so i'll be mailing out the hard copy tomorrow.

I think NVC operators have been told not to give the IIN....You will get the AOS Bill in 4-5 days......Till then your DS3032 would be accepted ( hopefully:) ) and then you can pay both fees together and send the packages together too....
