  1. We just received the NOA letter with our AOS interview date: 9/2. :)

Congrats!! So when you get your interview date there is no email just a letter?

We didn't get an email. There is no update on CRIs. We just received the NOA letter in the mail. It has the interview time and date and a HUGE list of what to bring to the interview.

Same here, I got my interview letter a few days ago. There was no prior email notification, as matter of fact; my AOS hadn’t been touched since June 16th. For a moment the no-touches had me extremely anxious and irritable. Now that I’ve received my interview notice, I shake my fist at CRIS for the indirect unnecessary stress and worry…oh and for molding me into an online stalker. I kept vigil and stalked uscis.gov for u update  . Ya, so shame on them for almost making me lose my sanity,

Anyway, congrats to all on their good news! Subguy I’m sorry about your RFE. Hopefully it is something simple and you can get back on track soon. To those who are awaiting EADs or interview letter, be encourage, it will come through soon enough.

  2. WOW USCIS is on a roll and wasting no time…I haven’t had a chance to read all of the post on this thread but CONGRATS to all on their great news!!

Since it’s been a while here is my update- I had to reschedule my biometrics which was slated for the 30th of June. Prior to this I showed up a week and a half early for the appointment but was told walk-ins were not permitted. I explained that I would be out of state on the scheduled date and will not return until a week after. I was advised to mail the Biometrics notice back to their office and I would be sent a new date and time.

After my trip I did this and in a weeks’ time I received a new appointment letter. I went in yesterday at 11a.m …was done within 15 minutes..by 5pm yesterday, I received a case update stating that a card production was ordered. I was blown away at the fact that so soon after my biometrics this was done….especially since I haven’t had a touch on my applications in over a month.

  3. Hi, I am adjusting from F-1 and I will try to answer your questions as best as I can...

Regarding item #10, I cannot find an A-number on any of his documentation so I am putting in his I-94 number. Those of you with F-1 visa, do any of you have an A-number, should I be looking for one? The A# refers to your Alien Identification number. The only instance an F-1 student would have an A# is if he/she applied for Optional Practical Training in their field of study. The A# is issued with the one year work authorization card upon graduation. If your hubby doesn't have an A#, his I-94 would be fine.

Regarding the "Which USCIS Office" item, the example form on this website left it blank but that form was geared toward K visa applicants. Since we are in California, should I list the California Service Center? I'm not sure what to put for "Dates" or "Results". Perhaps this section is not applicable but I'm not sure. If he has never applied for Optional practional Training/employment authorization, then question 11 is "NO". Further, USCIS office, Dates, and Granted should all be "NONE"..those questions go hand in hand with 10 & 11.

Regarding item #16, I listed his eligibility c9 as shown on the example form on this website. After reading the instructions for the form this seemed most applicable. Would other F-1 previous applicants agree? Agree

Regarding Item 14 under C. Information about your relative, the form asks for the I-94. When I plug in the numbers on his I-94 the number is shorter than the spaces given, is this ok? There are two spaces blank on the form. As long as you have all 11 digits. Also, his last entry to the US was not his original entry on his F-1 visa (due to a vacation prior to our marriage). Is this ok... that his last entry was not the first entry on his F-1? This should not be a problem. Furthermore, there is no expiry date on the I-94, just the D/S. I have written down the D/S as I read on another post, is this ok? Yes

Item 19 under section C (Info about your alien relative) asks for the relatives address abroad. He has been living in the US for over a year while attending school. Despite this, they still want an address in Canada although he is not living there now? Make note of his last address abroad

Regarding Part 2 Application Type, it seems that none of these selections apply exactly to an F-1 visa adjusting status. The example form on thsi website chose selection c but that is for K visas. Should I select number "h" for "other" and explain converting from F-1? Or is the correction selection "a" since this application is going as a package with all the other forms in the hopes they will issue an immigrant visa number? Yes, A

Regarding Part 3 Processing Information, they ask for a Non-immigrant Visa Number, I am confused as to the correct number to take from the F-1 visa form. There is an Admission number that is all digits and handwritten, and then there is another number that begins with an "N" and followed by a lot of digits which is printed, not hand written. I used the eight digits written in red, some people record the one with 14 digits

Also regarding Part 3 Processing Information, they ask for the Consulate where the F-1 visa was issued. There is nothing on the visa about a consulate. The only information about a location of issuance is toward the bottom of the visa where some school info states Los Angeles, CA. I'm not sure what to put for consolate in this area. The embassy in your husbands home country where visa was first issued.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Wow!! So my update is our new life arrived in the mail today. We received all three NOAs, Balvino's SSN card...with his new name, My new DL with my new name, and Balvino got his banking card for our joint bank account...with his new name. I am so excited! :dancing: When it rains it pours.

Our NOA says received on Sunday the 7th and Notice date on the 11th. It is so strange that a lot of our paperwork is dealt with on Sundays. Our K-1 was approved on a Sunday. I added on all three cases on to my online account with USCIS. I could see all the info and I think I signed up for emails. I can never tell if it works.

Congrats to everyone else. Those of you that received Bio appointments how did you get word? Through the mail or email?

Leo Feng... your situation does sound a bit confusing but it sounds like you figured it out. I think the suggestion of setting up a infopass appointment may not be a bad idea if you can swing it.

I am exhausted. I need a little wine to celebrate. Keep the good news coming.

    (L)

Yup, when it rains it does pour..but in your case, it seem as if you had a little monsoon action happing there in your mail box, . Congrats!

  5. Chelsea, thanks for taking the time to create the spreadsheet for us. My NOA's arrived in the mail today, and my cheques were cashed yesterday. Congrats to those who have already received theirs and my fingers are crossed for those who haven't as yet.

    Hey spiceconiac,

Do you need help to complete your timeline or have questions? I will be glad to help because I noticed you haven't completed one.

    Troy

Oh, I didn't realize there was an application for that....thanks for the heads up, I got it.

  6. Question - I have seen some Google spreadsheets for various months - has anyone made one for June yet? I volunteer to do it, just dont wanna make one if there's one already out there. Let me know!

Hey there, congratulations on mailing your packet today.Yes,please do go ahead and start one for us,am sure everyone will appreciate it?I do ,so hopefully we can start hearing some good news as we begin to recieve our NOA1.

Am excited and anxious at the same time.

    Goodluck all.

    S

Mailed my package yesterday, so I about to play the waiting game as well.

Congrats to all that have mailed their package and those in the process of doing so! Ya know DavShels, great idea, go for it-- I was thinking 'spreadsheet' after my husband told me the cheques had not been cashed. I was wondering about the time-frames in which USCIS are handling the packages for the month of June. I mailed my aos forms at the very end of last month, so far, not even static from their side.

  7. Hi all,

My husband (USC) current salary exceeds the poverty mark so he will not use any assets; we live alone, and have no dependents.....can someone please tell me which affidavit of support best suits our situation. Which is the correct form to use, I-864 or the I-864a?

My other question is regarding tax returns. From what I’ve gathered on this site – submitting just one year (most recent) tax return is allowed. My hubby started his current Job during the middle portion of last year. He has not yet filed taxes for 2008, therefore we will submit 2007 tax documents along with 6 current paystubs and a job letter from his current place of employment.

For the 2006 and 2005 tax unfortunately, he did not meet the poverty requirements. With that being said, can he leave the spaces blank for the last two tax year which would be 2006 and 2005?....or does he have to fill in the amount and provide documents to back it up like he would for the 2007 tax year?

    Thank for your replies.

  8. Hey guys,

In an attempt to avoid any delays can someone please confirm if the information we submitted on the G-325a is correct.

This form is submitted in connection with an application for:

Naturalization, Other (specify), Status of Permanent Resident.

Okay, so I am adjusting status from F-1 and filing concurrently. My husband selected "OTHER" then wrote “petition for alien relative” on the G-325a which goes along with form I-130. I followed suit and selected the same option as he did.

However, for the G-325a, that goes with form I-485 I selected “Status of Permanent Resident". Are these the correct answers?

    THANKS MUCH!!

  9. Hey guys

My husband (usc) and I are in the process of filing for AOS from F1 visa and have hit a road block. We were married a few weeks ago but currently reside in different states. I am at the tail-end of my OPT and will join my husband in a few weeks.

Here’s our problem,….circumstances beyond both of our control permitted us from living together. As a result, we do not possess any of the required evidence to prove bonafide marriage. We do have tons of photos, chat logs and phone records dating back to 2007, airline tickets, cards.

Would the evidence I listed be satisfactory enough to go along with the 1-130 form??

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

  10. Hello every one, I am so happy I found this place!!! The resources and stories posted by fellow VJers have been a tremendous help in understanding this arduous journey I am about to embark on. You guys have given me much clarity and for that I am very grateful.

Guys I need advice, this has been weighing heavy on my mind..so here is my dilemma.

My fiancé (USC) and I met during my last year of college while on vacation. We currently reside in different state. I received my OPT in March 2008 and soon thereafter planned to move closer to him. Unfortunately those plans were quickly vanquished after I received convoluted advice from the multicultural services dept at my school. I was left with the impression that I was not free to move around and had to complete my OPT in the state which I studied.

Of course I recently found out that this is all rubbish while seeking researching VJ. Originally our plan was for me to return home in February 2009 (OPT expires) –Then return under K-1 visa. I’m glad we don’t have to resort to that anymore.

So now here is the kicker, though we are still living in separate states we will go ahead with the wedding in a few weeks. Sadly we won’t be able to resume our lives and live together until January due to my apartment lease and job... I am in the midst of working on my reporters demo reel and do not want to leave my station without it.

Because of the temporary discrepancy in our addresses I am a bit hesitant to start the AOS process soon after we are married this month. Will this pose a problem for us? Since we won’t be together until January 2009 (few weeks before OPT expires), Should we just wait until then to file our petition?

Anyone with similar experience please share.

    Thanks !!
