  1. Thank u for ur responses but trust me they r so rude at the US Embassy in Egypt there is no way they would allow me to talk to anyone even if u try to get some info about the case they would not discuss it with u over the phone, they would tell me to email them, I had tried that several times. I had even contacted the DOS and I was given the same answer, i mean it has been five months since the interview, honestly they do not have any humanitarian feelings at all. Please if any of u went through this before, provide me with a solution.

    Thanks

  3. Dear VJ members:

My husband had an interview at the US Embassy in Cairo, at the time of the interview he was told that his visa will take six to eight weeks and that was on September 9, 2008. everytime i check with them they tell me that his case at administrative check. Two weeks ago I was told that the Administrative check was completed and we should wait fro DHL to deliver the passport. Two weeks and nothing happened, I contacted them again telling them DHL did not deliver him the passport yet, I was so shocked to see that they are telling me something else and which is that his case under administrative check. I hav no clue what is going on and it is like they are playing us off. Plz let me know if someone had the same situation before. I am very frustrated we have been about 1 year appart plz help if you know anything about this.

  4. My husband was interviewed at the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt on Sep 9, 2008 and he was told that his visa is approved but it will be issued from 6 to 8 wks but nothing yet. As i was emailing the embassy I was always told that it is with an officer for final review, finally last week I explained to them how much I really need my husband to be with me and I reminded them with what he was told. Then their reply was that they totally understand what I am going through and that they will pass my email to the Consular to look at his case. Do you think that they will mail his visa to him soon?

Plz know that all ur responses r appeciated

  5. The USCIS timelines for NOA2 on the K-1 and K-3 visas is the same: 6 months. On VisaJourney, the average time from NOA1 to the interview at the consulate is 202 days for K-1; 219 days for K-3 and 320 days for IR-1/CR-1.

I am currently visiting my fiance in the US and returning home shortly. We are trying to figure out which visa to apply for - ie. whether to get married before I leave or wait. As with everybody else, when we will be able to be together is the most important consideration. Most of what I have read on this site indicates that the K-1 visa is the quickest route but is the difference just a couple of months?

Does anybody know if filing for a K-1 generally significantly faster?

What did other people decide to do?

    Thank you in advance!

K1 should be quickier. An immrigation lawyer suggested that the K1 route is easier and faster. We just got our approval from Vermont service center but we are still at a 3 month wait at the consulate level. We both wished that we had gone the K1 route.

Petition approval to interview has the same timeline for K3 as for K1. The time difference comes two places.

    1. Fiance petitions can be filed as soon as the couple has met in person. Spouse visa petitions have to wait until an actual marriage has taken place.

    2. The I-129F petition for K3 visa must wait for the NOA1 from filing an I-130 petition. That's where the one or two months longer comes in.

As a matter of fact K3 is faster but with K1 you have to come up with so much explanation and evidence. I am talking out of a long experience and a personal one

  6. Hi,

Wanted to let you know that I called about my wife's I129f to ask about it being out of the processing time frame (her I129f was received on April 9, 2008 at the Vermont Service Center) My first call did not produce any results and I was told by two different people that according to their screen/system it was within the normal processing time frame for the Vermont Service Center. After this I decided to try again and what do you know....the customer rep's screen showed 6 months (just as it is on the USCIS website) and she sent in a request to review it.

I'm not sure if it will make things go any faster but it made me feel a little better to at least get a result.

Customer rep's r no help at all, they r just there to cool u down no more or less. If I was u i will write an inquiry to the service senter where the case is pending if it is out the normal processing time. Good luck

  7. Hi, I'm a USA Citizen and I want to marry my girlfriend, who is an international student on a F1 visa. She currently attending college and have an I-20. Her Visa have expired in August but she still have an I-20 so she is still ok to stay in the USA. I read the Guide on this website and it seem I need to fill form I-130, G-325a, I-864, I-485, and I-765. Is these forms the correct one to fill after we get married?

i just went trough that process last year. those are the forms you need to fill out. I'm not sure about her student visa being expired though, you might want to check into that!

As long as you file for her all these forms she should be ok even though her F1 expiered and if she wanna travel u shall file for her the I-131 no fees needed if filed along with the package

  8. AND I AM IN TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I really miss my husband so much I had never felt the days so long like that before away from him. I feel down so many moments but then I think about the hope that we will be together some day soon. I sit at my apt so lonely after my job and I feel like I really do not wanna do any thing but think about him, I wish I have the magic stick to do some thing about it.

  9. My husband's case was transferred to the US Embassy in Cairo and he did the interview on Sep 9, 2008 and he was told that he will receive his passport from 6 to 8 weeks along with the vis but nothing yet. I contacted the embassy 3 times and it is like a recorded message that his case is with an officer for final review. I am really frustrated same as he. does anyone know how long does it actully take.

Plz if any one has any info i appreciate it if u can let me know. Thanx for all ur responses
