  1. Thank you for answering so quickly. But I wish you had a different answer. ;) We were hoping he would be here before our birthdays in November or at least Christmas but that appears to be just wishful thinking. I wish they wouldn't make the process so difficult. We are the ones doing it the right way after all. Sorry that I am complaining but the distance is a very hard thing to deal with. Thanks again for responding!

  2. My Canadian fiance just received his packet 4. First, it says there are no interview dates available at this time. Do we just keep checking the website everyday??? How long have people been known to wait? I figured if they sent out packet 4 then they were ready for him. Okay, questions about affadavit...

    1. One of my children went to live with his father back in January. However, it hasn't been completed through the court yet so I don't have any official documents showing that he doesn't live with me. Will they accept a notarized letter stating that he hasn't lived with me since January? If I have to include him, then I don't meet the income guidelines.

    2. What exactly can you include as income? My ex-husband has been paying me a divorce settlement. Can I include that? It goes on for at least five years.

    3. If I am able to get a co-sponsor, are they obligated for the rest of their lives? Is there a time limit on the responsibility of a co-sponsor?

Thank you for any help you can provide. I hate this process. We go through the process trying to do things the right way and might get denied just because the instructions aren't clear or maybe it is our fault that we don't completely understand them.

  3. I am filling out the affadavit of support. I receive child support and a debt settlement from my divorce. I've heard I can include child support. What about the debt settlement? It is something I will be receiving for 10 more years. My fiance has written to the consulate in Montreal but the only answer he received was a link to the form and form instructions which does not mention either of thoset two items. And if I can include those two things, where on the form do I include them? On the income line? I'm so overwhelmed. We are finally nearing the end and I'm just so afraid that something will go wrong. We have waited 3 years to be together and I don't want to mess it up.

    Thanks for your help.

    Tricia

  4. Mine said the same thing but the NVC had it and then forwarded it to the consulate that we listed on our petition. I emailed the NVC after 14 days of receiving my NOA2 (I received it July 11) to check on the status and I got an email just today that said they had received it and had sent it on to Montreal!! I had the same questions as you when I got my NOA2 but all is well as I'm sure it is with yours too!

  5. Sorry, I didn't ask if it would be Montreal you will be going to. That is the page link I sent. If it's Vancouver just go to the home page at that site and click Vancouver. The first link I sent takes you to the main page. If you copy and paste it to your browser it should work. Hope this helps! :-)

Yes, it is Montreal that my fiance will be going through. Thank you so much for the link!! It is a great help!!

  6. I was so happy! We were so happy!! Now what? LOL! All this waiting has paid off! I cant wait until our interview date. If I am correct, we play another waiting game until we receive an interview date right?

    Thanks for all your help!!

I just did a search for the NVC and found a lot of useful information on their website...even a step-by-step guide that I was looking for! Here is the link. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1326.html Start with step 2.

    Hope this helps!

Congratulations! We just received our NOA2 too! We received ours on July 11 so we are in the same boat as you...wondering what to do next. The NOA2 does not give any instructions on what to do next. I've asked several questions on here and have gotten some helpful answers. I've also gotten some answers that contradict each other but everybody is just coming from their own experience. So I'm not exactly sure what happnes next but appreciate everybody on here. Wish there was somewhere to go though for step-by-step instructions.

And again, CONGRATULATIONS! It is exciting to complete each step.

  8. As soon as you get an operator they will ask you for your WAC number and will check if it's been received yet.

If it is they will ask you for your fiance's name and date of birth as well as your own, also will confirm their email address and ask if you want yours added to the file. (I had already put mine on the 129F but gave it them again). I was told the file will go to the Consulate in about 3 days. Wait that time then you can call 1-202-663-1225 to find out if it's logged in yet and they can also tell you if packet 3 has been sent out to you yet. Here is the website that will help you a lot with the next steps. http://montreal.usco...=immigrant_visa

I could not get the link to work. If you don't mind and when you have time, could you check it and send it to me again?

Also, what is a WAC number? Where could I find it?

    Thank you!

I don't know if you can change which Consulate you deal it or not.. it's only Montreal or Vancouver for Canada. You can always ask when you call the NVC. Or maybe someone else here knows the answer to that.

    Good luck!!!

Thank you for the information! I don't need to change our consulate. That was just the only instructions given to us on our NOA2. I wish they had given more.

  10. We received our NOA2 on July 11. There were barely any instructions on what to do next...just what to do if we need to change embassies. From reading the posts on here, it looks like the next step is to call the NVC. Is that right? What is the NVC's number and what exactly am I supposed to be asking them when I call? Our NOA2 doesn't say anything about the NVC though. It says that our petition was forwarded to the listed embassy, so could it possibly have skipped the NVC? I just really don't know what to do next and would really appreciate some help. What should we be doing after we get our NOA2? I would really hate to wait all this time and come all this way to just get messed up because of not knowing what to do next.

Thank you for any help you can give!!

  12. Ok..I guess, this is just me or typical for us VJ's who had been notified by the USCIS that our I-129F was approved to get so anxious about what we can do right there and then :D Anyways, I was told that we have to call the NVC a week after we were notified about the approved I129 F.

Did your NOA2 tell you to call the NVC? We got our NOA2 but there was barely any directions other than to notify them if we needed to change embassies. I'm just concerned about what to do next since we didn't get any instructions from USCIS.

  13. Thanks for the info. However there will be some means that the petitioner knows about the NVC case #. For the matter of fact, we, the petitioner, were not suppose to call the NVC to get the case #. As NOA2 on paragraph 3 read “You will receive notifications by mail when NVC has sent the petition to the US Embassy or Consulate”. This means that there is a correspondence letter coming from NVC. Please refer the NOA 2. Meanwhile we don’t have to wait for the letter to come to us. As soon as we got the NVC case #, beneficiaries can start their process at the consulate.

    Good Luck

I don't have that paragraph on my NOA2. It doesn't give me any further instructions other than telling me what to do if we have to change consulates and that we have to get married within 90 days of my fiance entering the U.S. But my NOA2 says the petition has been forwarded to the consulate so maybe we bypassed the NVC?

  14. Wrong. Approved petitions will go through NVC "most of the time, not ALWAYS", but there are some cases wherein it will be sent DIRECTLY to the US embassy where the beneficiary will be interviewed for his/her visa. And that is a good thing if USCIS forward it directly to the consulate.

Ours reads the same about being sent to the "listed" consulate but I can't find a consulate listed anywhere. So can I just assume it is the consulate that I listed on my application? I'm just curious...how do you all know all this stuff? One of you says it always goes through the NVC and another says it doesn't. How do we know what is right? Also, there are no instructions on what to do next. I know there is a lot of information on this site and I plan on looking through it, but how are they supposed to expect you to know what to do, if they don't give you any instructions? I tend to worry more than I should so this is probably just another one of those times. Thanks for listening and whatever help you can give!!
