  1. Dear all,

On January 20th my fiancee died of a heart attack related to a congenital disorder known as atrial septal defect (basically a hole in the heart). She was just 24 years old. She was diagnosed with the condition last March, and underwent open heart surgery in Cleveland on January 6th. The surgery was deemed a success and Ally was released from the hospital 6 days later. I had been visiting from England since Xmas Eve and flew back on the 13th January. The funny things was that the day I flew home our visa petition was approved! We were both so excited, as this meant I was looking at being back in the States for good around the end of March. I'd even interviewed for a job as a soccer coach in Cincinnati and been offered the position. Everything was looking perfect until I received a phone call from her mother...

I was wondering if anyone knew what I should do to close the K-1 case? Do I need to call the NVC or the US embassy? Any advice is gratefully appreciated.

I also wanted to thank the people on this forum for the help they provided myself and Ally during the whole process and wish you all luck on your journey.

    Tom.

    Condolence....May she rest in peace

  2. WOW a BIG Congratz for you =)

This morning I joined the 6 months waiting club date from receiving NOA1, and today received a touch. Right after that I got the approval notice! I couldn't be happier right now. I just want to send out warm wishes to those who are still waiting. I know what it's like not to hear a peep for 6 months. Here's to a happy and closer future with our other halves! :dancing::blush:

  4. If you know you have some complications with your x-ray or have a scar in your lungs you might want to sched your med exam asap or atleast time it so you dont have to wait...you will be denied regardless if you have current med certs and x-rays showing that you are cured from the tb and asked to come back for a 3 day tests and wait for 2 more months so might as well get it over with and get your sputum test and 2 months out the way...just make sure you have the req passport and pic....i wish i knew this when i got my case number back 2 months ago...

Hello, thank you so much for the info it really helps me a lot coz i also have scar in my lungs. Thats why i will have an early medical as soon as my case will be approve to avoid waiting that 2 months just for the result. I hope everything will be ok just pray hard and I know everything will be alright =)

    P.S

Does St.lukes accept early medical even if we dnt have the appiontment letter but the case is approved?

  5. Glad someone started this thread!!

I filled last week on 10/7 and they cashed the check on 10/10, so I'm hoping for NOA1 soon. Quick question -- how do they send the NOA1 via email or regular mail?

Look forward to waiting and celebrating this process together.

You can check the NOA1 date online. If you have access to your cashed check image (available to me from my bank), you can get your receipt number which should be stamped on the back of the check. The number will probably start with the letters EAC followed by 10 digits. Go to the following link:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do

and enter this number. It should list the NOA1 date. I don't know if they'll email the NOA1 but you'll definitely receive one in the mail. Hope this helps.
