I guess it depends. If something goes wrong at the Embassy they might not give you the information they would when a lawyer contacts them. We used a lawyer and everything went well!!! I am here !!! Good luck!!!

Hi guys I have a quick question - how long does it take from the day you file the papers until they issue you a permanent residence card ? I live in NY. I am having a baby at the same time my conditional residency expires so I would like to have a time frame to plan a trip back to my country.
thanks a bunch!!

Did he get divorced in Greece? I am not certain but isn't it really difficult to get one in Greece? I may be wrong...

You will be fine.

I just don't get it as I am reading the posts some people make wedding plans ahead of time and their timelines are just unrealistic. Can't they follow the USCIS and embassy advice? Why not wait till you are approved? what if you get hit by a random hit? what if something else happens? what if they slap you with a RFE? What if the embassy takes longer to issue an interview.. too many what if's for me. God. Better safe than sorry!! My two cents!

Well until they start background checking the 12 million illegals, I think it's perfectly fine for us to complain....
I totally agree 100% with this person, but if that makes you feel better!! It certainly didn't make me or my husband feel any better!!! I mean terrorists find they way here legally and there is my sister who is a doctor but because she comes from a country where very few visas are issued, she might not even get to visit me here -- I am just venting out ---------

I'm just wondering what happened to all the people who were on the AOS forum who finally got approved like me after a long long wait.. I miss you guys!!!!
I didn't know where else to post this!!! Hope you are all fine!!!!

She is not lying if she says she's here for a holiday. If the CBP officers care to check, and they see that she is in the K-1 process, she can supplement her answer with more information.
My advice to the OP was simply not to volunteer more information than that for which she is asked.
I'd follow gag54611's advice!!! goodluck!!

if her passport is in the maiden name and the GC is in the married name, then your wife should also take the marriage certificate along.
Do you need to take a marriage cert with you if the passport has been amended by the embassy to show the name change?
Why?
Passport would then match other documents, no?
In my case I couldn't change my married name to my passport my country does not allow name changes so all they wanted to do was add my married name to my maiden name and it would be incredibly long so I had to leave my passport in my maiden name .. and I never have a problem despite my greencard has my married name.

I've read on several posts here that you have to make sure you bring a copy of your marriage certificate to show the link between your maiden name (ticket and passport) and your married name (GC).
yes, I failed to mention that as well. thank you for bringing that up.
I travelled internationally with my passport with my maiden name- and my greencard with my married name- my tickets were on my married name and I never had a problem with this -- however just in case I always carry my marriage certificate when I travel.
