  1. Hey everyone I hope I have posted this in the right place.

My parents have their interveiw on Friday at the US Embassy in London, England. My question is this:

Has anyone been through this already recently (or their parents)? If so do you have any tips or advice on what to expect? Is this just a formality as they have all of their paperwork. They will be living with me and they will own their own house in the United Kingdom (will sell once settled here). I am just hoping to find someone who can shed some light on this so I can pass any advice/help on to them. Literally anything helps.

Please feel free to ask questions if I have missed anything.

    Thanks guys and good luck!

  2. Hey guys so about 3 months ago I put the paperwork in to sponsor both my parents to come move to Colorado. Now the paperwork is in, and been received, are they allowed to come visit us while this is all being processed (the application has by no means been accepted just the paper has been received).

Any advise/help would be greatly appreciated! Please ask if you have any questions or need more info!

    Shaun.

  3. Hi Everyone, I am planning on bringing my folks over to live in the States and I am concerned about insurance for them. They live in England and want to come to Colorado to live with us. Firstly, is there any type of set-up with the United Kingdom and the USA where insurance is covered? I am led to believe that they will not qualify for medicare as they are not citizens. There ages are Mum 64 and Dad 60. My mum plans on not working when they are here but my dad plans on doing so. My concerns are how will they be able to get insured without paying a ton of money each month? My wife and I make around 75k between us a year, and my parents will have a little income, too, around $500 a month, plus if they rent the house they own in the UK a little extra money also.

Does anyone have any experience with this as there has to be a reasonably priced way for them to "retire" here without getting ripped off with insurance in case any emergency happened? Any links or telephone numbers would be very helpful.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Shaun.

  4. What insurance have you gone with?

Have your parents check with their local travel agency. They should be able to purchase travel insurance a LOT cheaper than any insurance. I lived in Europe and purchased it myself when traveling to the US and other countries and it was far cheaper than the insurance I must now purchase for the love of my life when she comes here later this year. Good luck

  5. Not so much to be honest (job skills) my dad plans on working in say home depot or something, I am just concerned that he wont get a job right away.

    State in Colorado.

What state are you in? Check out the Anthem website and one of those compare insurance websites, that will give you an idea of the various cost options: remembering that the price quoted will assume healthy applicants. Unfortunately for that age you can expect to be paying something akin to a mortgage payment. Do either of your parents have a very marketable job skill?

  6. Hi Everyone, what is everyone's suggestion for getting insurance for both my parents (aged 58 and 62), we play on sponsoring them to come over withing the year.My wife and I make a combined income of $75,000. But are worried that insurance for my folks will be crazy expensive, what is best, private, cheapest etc

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Shaun

  7. hi there, what did you do with regards to insurance for them, do you just pay privately, if so how much does it cost?

    Shaun.

Hi some time ago I opened a topic asking if having if Hepatitis B affects obtaining a visa, just wanted to give an update in case anyone else is doing research as I was.

I helped my aunt petition for both her parents, today they had their interview and visas were granted. Here is some info about their case:

    - Both beneficiaries are over 80 years old.

    - One of them has Hepatitis B.

    - My aunt had a Joint sponsor who was making 60K yearly with a family of 4. Not related to beneficiaries.

    - Petitioner was not present during the interview.

    - No questions were asked during interview.

  8. Good morning all, my new wife and I have our AOS (adjustment of status interview) tomorrow morning; here are our specifics if needed;

We got married in June 09

I moved from the UK - I am English

    My Wife is American.

    We live in Colorado

Is there anything we need to look out for or any tips anybody can offer etcetera? Or any suggestions what we should bring with us?

    Thanks so much, Shaun.

  9. Hello... it is with great happiness I am finally posting in this section... Miss Hue is now in America and is actually my Mrs. now!!!... We could'nt be happier....

My wife was told she had to schedule an appointment with a Dr. by Feb. 27th (she interviewed Jan. 24 and just arrived Feb 9th), but she was not told where or with whom or what for. She just received a little slip from the IOM, written in VN. Is this for an update on immunizations? We have not even sent the I-485 yet (waiting for certified copies of the marriage cert).

Thanks for any help you can give...

Hi everybody. This is kind of off topic, I was just hoping someone could help with this. I am filing for adjustment of status after the approved fiance visa. On the G-325a previosly i put none for A number. Do they give you one with your fiance visa or is it still none? There is a number on the visa that starts with an A. Is that the A number? Thank you ver much.

  10. Shaun

As you will be entering the US on a K1 visa you no longer have to register on esta as that is for VWP.

The brown envelope contains everything that immigration needs for you to enter on your visa.

I entered on my K1 visa 28th Feb and had no problems.

Yes, but under the pre-requisites listed in the OP, a K-1 does fall into one of those cateogries...

    • You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country.

    • You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa.

    • Your travel is for 90 days or less.

    • You plan to travel to the United States for business or pleasure.

Thanks guys, just to confirm though, I do not need to fill the form in even though I was mistaken and it does fall into the category "You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa."

  11. So The days of filling out a green I-94 piece of paper (commonly thought of as the Visa Waiver form) on a plane for entry into the US have ended. We now need to fill in an online request to enter the States, at least three days before travelling otherwise you'll be turned away at US immigration.

    The form is called the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation form or ESTA for short. And here is the website;

    https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html?_fl...A5-9D0721EFE754

My question is this, I will be travelling to the States in May on a K-1 visa to get married in June and was wondering do I need to fill this in, or will whatever is in my brown envelope I can't open contain sufficient information? My Concern is filling it in and not needing to and causing harm to my entrance to the states, or not filling it in and causing harm.

My concern is I don’t think I fall under any of these categories/“options”?

  13. Hello everyone, I was recently approved on my K1 Visa application and I will be moving to America May 11th and I will be getting married June 5th. What I am struggling to understand is what exactly to do next. The package I received from the Embassy in London doesn't really help any on what to do next. I understand I have to adjust my status but how long after that should I adjust, after I am married. Does anybody have a link to send me with a guide line please?

    Thanks in advance,

    Shaun.

You have up to 90 days after you enter the States on your visa to get married and file to adjust status. Basically, it's a good idea to file to adjust status as soon as you can after your honeymoon. As you are marrying within 1 month of arriving, you will have 2 more months but I suggest you send in all the paperwork within 4-6 weeks of your wedding so that you have time for it to arrive and you to receive your NOA1 - this will mean you are still legally in the country! You can find example forms on this site as well as a guide to AOS... I think maybe the person who posted before me put a link to that but I didn't stop to look! You can find the actual forms on USCIS website as always! Good luck emigrating and have a great wedding :-)

You don't have to adjust status within 90 days of entering the US. The most important thing is to marry within the 90 days. If you don't AOS withing 90 days your out of status.

    Is this defo true?

  14. Hello everyone....

Anybody can give me the full and step by step process for adjusting status???...requirements and all??? or any links that would help me get through the process??? I would appreciate that so much...

Thank you so very much for everything guys...I've learned so much from this site. Have a great day to everyone and for those who are still waiting, God has great plans for all of us. We just have to wait for His perfect timing.

    God bless everyone.

Thank you so much for your immediate reply. I appreciate it very much.

Do you know what the I-94 is by any chance?

Thanks so much, but do you know what the I-94 is exactly, is that inside this package that I can't open and have to give to an immigration officer?

  17. Hello everyone, I was wondering if your K-1 visa is denied are you allowed to visit the states on a holiday for a couple of weeks or are you barred out of America for a certain amount of time/ever?

    Please advise, Shaun.

regardless of the other responses...I think you would have a big problem with a K-1 denial, and immigration knowing that you have a fiancee here.

Im not even sure that the Consulate would give you a B-2 visa.

If I knew why you were denied, then I may/may not change my opinion.

(I just read the reason....dont think they will let you enter....still an overstay)

I actually didnt overstay on a visa, I came home before it expired, I have just recieved my paperwork from my lawyer and am waiting for flight info from Virgin to prove I left wen I did. I am just wondering if for some unknown reason this did get refused then I would be able to holiday there.
