Just looking for advice from you all. I'm a US citizen and filed for the I-129F fiancee visa back in November '08 (that's when I received my NOA1 in the mail). I never received a request for additional info, so after 6 months had passed (May '09), I called USCIS to check up on my status. I was told my case looked fine since there was no request for additional information -- but to check back within 30 days to see if my case has further progressed. After 30 days had passed, and after yet a few more phone calls, an inquery request was _supposedly_ put in by a USCIS officer to look into my case to see what the hold up was. I was told I would hear from them within 2 weeks. After 2 weeks had gone by, I called USCIS again, only to find out that the inquery request was NOT placed since they could not find anything in the system. So this time the officer on the line placed another inquery request into the system and gave me a confirmation receipt number. She said to wait up to 60 days to receive a response.

Fast forward until now. Over 30 days have gone by and no word or update from USCIS. I called them again and was told to wait until the 60 days are up. I was also told that it could also take an additional 4 months once I receive my NOA2 before my fiancee can come here to the States (ie. embassy related paperwork/interview/etc). That has me quite concerned because we are planning a wedding for February '10 (due to religious reasons, we cannot move the date beyond Feb '10). If I wait it out, it probably won't be until late December/early January before my fiancee can come to the States. With the wedding in early February, that leaves only 1 month which some of you may already know is not much time to do preparations for a wedding. I had thought filing for the fiancee visa back in Nov '08 would leave me plenty of time to plan for the wedding, but such is not the case.

I'm seeking advice on how to speed up this process, or have her be able to come here to the States legally sooner so she can come here to allow us ample time for wedding preparations. Should I just bypass the fiancee visa and have her come here to the States on a tourist visa and marry her on paper here? Is that even legally possible? Or wait it out and hope everything works out in the end? Thank you for the advice.

What is a service request? Is it a form that needed to fill out and where to send it to? where can I find the form?

I received my NOA 1 for K-1 visa on November 17, 2008. It is almost 6 months now and I haven't received anything in the mail. Everytime I check on the USCIS website, it said the case has been received and pending. I filed in California Service Center.

The few times I called the USCIS CS to ask about my status, they said the same thing as in the website. They won't check specifically for your case if it hasn't passed the normal waiting time that USCIS listed as 6 months.

I have seen some people in the forum already received their NOA 2 less than 6 months. Should I be worried or is this normal for the waiting time? Is there any other way to check on your status other than checking on USCIS websites or call the USCIS's CS? Is there something I should say to them so they want to check on your status instead of just saying what's it said on the USCIS website?
