I dont consider my mother caring for my baby as a labor. Yes, we do want to save money but who wouldnt? It's the family ties that are important. I have no family here so any help even mental help is appreciated.

I guess i have no choice but start a petition for my mom to become a PR. God only knows how long it will take.

We only want our baby to grow up with a grandparent. My mom is a widow, i am her only child and we both miss each other. I grew up with my grandparents and its important to me to give the same start to our child. I think its normal that we want a relative to be around us. I dont know how it is in the US but it seems like having grandma to take care of their only grandchild is unusual and treated as labor.

My fiance and i talked about moving to Europe so we can see my family whenever we want, not whenever CBP officer allows us.

Is there better way to do that?

Can i start a petition for my mom as a PR or do i have to be a USC?

Hello All,

I recently had a baby and my mother came to the US in August to help us take care of the baby so we can go back to work and not spend money on a day care. My mother (Polish citizen) is currently on B2 visa, I am a PR, my fiance is a US citizen. Mom got a stamp in her passport allowing her to stay up 6 months. She is going back home in February 2014 - 2 weeks before the due date in her passport. We were hoping that she could come back really soon and stay with us again but I am afraid that immigration officer might question her stay in the US.

She is 62 years old and she has been living with us this whole time.

I was thinking that maybe it would be beneficial to write a letter to the immigration officer and explain him the situation so they wont wonder?

Yesterday I received a confirmation that USCIS ordered my new card!

Easy! When I was there in Dec ( K-1 ) he gave me only a receipt and 1 sheet of paper with some general information on fiancee visa and that UPS nr probably. don't worry, they know what o do and you will be fine!

I checked DHL website and it says that this package doesn't exist. so I called DHL - they told me that it was sent to me on Friday evening and I should get it by Monday!

Gosh! I cant wait! I tried to reschedule my departure for 7/23 but Orbitz says that there is no availability in my class until 8/14 (I purchased my ticket last year for 8/14/2009 ) And the fist available is Business Class and the rate difference is huuuuuuge so I guess 5 more weeks to go........ bummer!

Questions I was asked by the CO :

- when did we meet for the first time ?

- when did we become close ?

- when was the last time we have seen each other in person ?

- how ofter we talk ? CO was surprised when i said everyday! wink.gif

- he asked for pictures, and he noticed that i have few postcards and asked for them as well

- when am i planning to come back ?

I was joking with the CO if it was hard for him to learn polish - he said very hard and he was laughing smile.gif

No questions regarding visa extension or similar stuff!

Then he gave me DHL packet number - and told me to wait up to 5 days to get my passport back.

However, I didnt get anything from him - I read something about PINK SLIPS that they give and I didnt get anything.

For me - 11 more days to go! i'm scared like never before! Immigration should pay us some kind of benefits for that freaking stress!! Even defending my Master's thesis was less stressful than this.

I did have read the Guide and NVC site, I know that they require us to send either the original or the certified copies of Birth certificate, marriage certificate and police certificate. BUT to all those who just have filed and also have their case completed recently.... which one is less problematic? ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED ? Thank you for all your responses !!!

we are filing for CR1 - not K3 ... and we sent originals... so far no problems.... interview in less than 20 days

After USCIS and NVC, most of us here at VJ are now waiting on our day for the Interview. My interview will be in July. Each day feel like a week and anxiety is the order of the day. I keep myself occupied with work and other stuff. My medical will be done July 6. I am currently putting everything in place for the interview e.g. pictures of my spouce and I. The members here in Visa Journey please share any bit of information re the wait period before the interview date.

First, you need to calm down. Trust me, when you get there you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about. If you have everything in order, everything else will fall into place. Relaxxxxxxx, July is right around the corner.
