  1. PLEASE someone should help me i am about to send the form I-130 to uscis but the help on document to send asap please would i need my mother's birth certificate and passport photograph too. i am a US citizen

I just saw your signature and realised youve been through the process before. So you should have the experience of filing for someone.. all you have to do is send the same documents as before minus the marriage related stuff...

  2. :guides:

◦Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative (if you are filing for both parents, you must file a separate petition for each parent)

◦A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mother’s name

◦If your name or your mother’s name is different now than at the time of your birth, you must provide evidence of the legal name change.

◦If you were not born in the United States, a copy of either

■your Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship or

    ■your U.S. passport

The best thing to do i think is to read the I-130 instructions form. I think it is very clear and concise. I am currently filing for my mother and now at the waiting for the embassy interview phase (NVC), by using the document below, I went through, relatively quickly compared to others. Also if youre Jamaican, USCIS no longer accepts the old version of your birth certificate( the new version is computer generated as opposed to hand written). if you dont have the latest version then you have to file for one ( had to get that out there :-) )

  3. Case Status Information for I-130 updated to approved.

The last processing action taken on your case:

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On January 9, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN.

Timeline for my I-130 Petition for my mother who lives in Jamaica:

September 13, 2008 fill out form and mail it into the Chicago Lockbox

September 15, 2008 They received Form

September 18, 2008 I received a notice date(Notice Type: Receipt Notice) I-797C Telling me that the USCIS received my application and it's location is at the CSC.

October thru December 2008 Got no reply back about my case, to know if it's approve or not.

January 9th 2008 Got an email stating that they approved my case/petition I-130

My question now to anyone and everyone since my form is now approved and only waiting to received the letter in the mail WHAT IS THE NEXT STEPS THAT I HAVE TO DO NOW, and WHAT are the forms that I have to fill-out and will they be asking for any Fee's that I have to pay :help:

I just wanted to correct something in my post: instead of January 9th 2008 It is suppost to be January 9th 2009 SORRY about that.

Its amazing how we have the same timeline and we are both filing for our mother in jamaica.. that is amazing !! congratulations !!!

  4. With the tortuous wait that we all go through, I found almost the perfect song for our dilemma....Guess who sang it -)

    Mister postman look and see

If there's a letter in your bag for me

I been waiting such a long time

Since I heard from that girl of mine

There must be some word today

From my girlfriend so far away

Please mister postman look and see

If there's a letter, a letter for me

I been standing here waiting mister postman

    So patiently

For just a card or just a letter

Saying she's returning home to me

So many days you passed me by

See the tear standing in my eye

You didn't stop to make me feel better

By leaving me a card or a letter

Please Mr. Postman, look and see

If there's a letter, oh yeh for me,

I've been waiting, a long long time

Since I've heard from that girlfriend of mine.

You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute

You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute

You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute

You gotta check it and see, one more time for me

    Wait

    Wait

    Wait

Deliver the letter, the sooner the better

    Wait

  5. I am new to this forum and was looking through the time-line of members who submitted their i-130. My first observation is that i-130 got approved in under 3 months in 2007. but it looks to be longer in 2008.

I was wondering if there are VJ members out there who submitted their i-130 in September 2008 and has gotten it approved ?

How long (on average) really depends on several things...such as who is filing, for whom and/or what purpose. Your post is not clear on that as it is posted in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens To America.

This is for my mother whom is in Jamaica...
