I wouldn't send the passport by mail, and definitely travel to Orlando if you don't know anybody in the Embassy. .

I don't have hands on experience with the Moroccan Embassy in the US, but Moroccan bureaucracy sucks big time, and good luck suing them for misplacing your pass.

I was in the same boat as your husband, I speak Fluently French and Italian, but I cannot write a sentence in Arabic. Yeah I'm Moroccan, but Arabic was never the language we spoke at home. English was pretty hard for me to pronounce, what I did was taking ESL classes as well I start volunteering in my community in order to interact with people and make new local friends.

I improved my writing by opening a blog online, so I forced myself to write and interact everyday with my followers about subjects I find interesting .

If you have any member in your family familiar with linux Distro preferably CentOS. You can make and receive calls for free from all over the world.I have been doing it for over 2 years now. You can set up everything in a Virtual machine either using Vmware or virtual box.

Morocco and Algeria and Egypt have their JERRY SPRINGER families just like the USA does. If I took you to dinner with my mother and father and they praised Morocco up and down it would be a different story than if I drove you through a trailer park in Narcoosee and you got to listen to an hour long speech about them fereners coming over here and taking our jobs and you got to meet the ex wife of the mans sister who is now the mans new wife and hes cheating on her with their cousin. Anyway, those who have an in-law family with manners, will accept any gifts you offer. Others doesn't need your gifts, and they will stat that before you travel from US to your in-law family.

Seriously too much drama in this thread. In Morocco there are dozen of different races( Chaleh, Riffi, Soussi, Marakesh, Fassi, Arbi, Hassani, Mzabi, chawi\ etc......) is like you trying to compare apples and oranges. Everyone's family is different.

The OP asked for what she should bring to Morocco, I will say the best thing to do is get the wish list from your husband and go from there. Some families won't like it if you brought them cheap stuff.

I'm from Casablanca, I have no idea why do you need to bring candy and food all the way from US to Morocco. When everything is available in Label Vie and Metro.

I'm a Moroccan, and I love Mac&Cheese, The weirdest stuff I made are: either Mango, Kiwi or Pineapple mixed with orange Juice, Nuts and Dates. Avocado Milk Shake. Banana With Apple Milk Shake. Pasta with Tomato Sauce With Shrimps. Lentils with Tomato Sauce, carrot, zucchini and Chicken Strips. Tuna with cream cheese mixed with a salad in a French baguette. Hot Milk mixed with Herbs. However, something I know many Moroccan won't touch at all,my favorite dish Sashimi.

When it comes to English, I use French words for anything technical I don't know, and try to pronounce the word in English.

I'm sorry brother but this is not true, I was born and raised in Casablanca and I have been to melilla/Ceuta several times with my family

. As a matter of fact,we don't hold residency in the north part of Morocco. To get in you only need to show your Moroccan passport.

To convert Moroccan Dirham to any other currency, it's a piece of cake, and it can be done without going to the bank. Hello the Bazarr in old medina in Casablanca. Those people out there will convert any currency for you, they can even send money for you out of the country. There is a different secure approach to send money out of Morocco but I don't feel comfortable discussing it in a public forum.

As momof1 mentioned this is a gray area, and IMO it doesn't make a difference if the meat was a zabiha or I bought it from Walmart. I say bismiAllah and I eat. I'm a seafood junkie I don't eat red meat that much. My favorite dish is Sashimi, and I dislike anything spicy go figure.

To the OP I advice you to send them. The US consulate in Casablanca is very moody. Also, Ask your husband to prepare himself for random questions and also prepare his folder in order. Another think you need to do for him, is boost his moral to make him feel very comfortable during the interview.

I had my first interview in feb 05, unfortunatly the IO didnt not approved our case because I forgot to brought my SSN and she also wanted to know what I am doing in this corporate company, so had to comeback last wedensday for the 2nd interview, I brought with me a letter of recommendation from the president of the company I work for.In the wating room the IO called my wife and asked me to wait for my turn. Overall, the interview last for 1h:30min,. She explain to us the condition and what we have to do after 2 years, and we have to send our application to a diffrent office.At the end , she said congrats you can expect your Green card within 2 weeks. If you did not received itduring this time frame please make a infopass.
