  1. The USC's birth certificate is not needed. For UK citizens, please make sure your parent's names are on your birth certificate. I am often surprised how very active people on the forum did not read the instructions on the Embassy webpage and go to the interview with the wrong version of their birth certificate. So here's another head's up that there are apparently two versions of birth certificates in the UK called the short form and the long form...take the LONG form.

    VERY TRUE!!!

I read threads on VJ every week and yet I nearly made this very mistake. I knew that I had read something like that but just didn't click until a couple weeks from my interview. Thank you to everyone who reinforces this point, make sure you have the right birth certificate, only takes a few days to sort out for £26 but save yourself £16 and get on it early!!!

  2. I have an interview coming up next week at the US embassy in London and im trying to establish if I need my letters of intent from me and my fiancee notarized. When I applied for my interview i was within the 4 month period of my NOAT but my interview has been scheduled a couple days after the 4 month period. Thanks for any help.

  3. Hey everyone, so I was wondering what happens now; I've sent in Packet 3 and checklist (20/10/09) and had my medical, so now i'm just waiting to find out my interview date. Do they write to me, or should I phone them up, and is it still a little early to do that? Cheers, Martin.

  4. Have you contacted the Department of State? I called this morning and they said that my fiance's packet 3 had been sent yesterday. Are you guys ready to go? Has the police certificate been ordered, etc.. and got all the info together? Once they have acknowledged that packet 3 has been sent, the application can be sent back to the embassy to process.

So, it turns out that the embassy now have my details, and they'd apparently sent me packet 3 on the 15th of September.

Mine was probably sent out early September and I never received it. A couple of days ago I got a letter from the embassy saying that they would like to hear from me as I hadn't replied to their previous letter. Waiting for that thing must have set me back at least 1 month. Stupid I know, as I should have just proceeded without it. At least I've already ordered my ACPO (check has been cashed), booked my medical for late october and all the financial docs are already coming my way. Should hopefully be sending off p.3 later this week.

  5. Do you think it is necessary to wait to have my police certificate in hand before mailing off packet 3 for my K1 interview? I also haven't received my physical packet 3 despite getting noa2 on the 14th August. The embassy have my stuff though, I phoned them and they gave me a web link to follow. Aside from the police certificate i'm pretty much good to go. Cheers for any input. I know this is impatient but i'm sure everyone here can relate to that!

  6. Hey everyone, i'm a little confused as to if i'm supposed to be doing anything now concerning my interview. I received a letter from the NVC dated August 14th that said they were mailing my details to the London embassy and that they would send me a packet regarding what the next step should be and I haven't heard anything yet. I already know roughly what needs to be done; police certificate, medical, i-134 ect. but I am yet to hear anything from the embassy, are they actually going to get in contact with me, or do I make the first move? Thanks for your help!
