  1. 37 days since POE. Nothing.

I did find out from CBP that I was updated on the SAVE system and that they sent the packet out to USCIS the very next day itself.

I just called USCIS... and they said I'm not in the system yet.

What's weird myself & Yohino arrived on May 29 @ JFK.. she received her welcome letter yesterday! I didn't :-O

  2. Same here!

21 days since POE . No welcome letter yet.

I visited Canada on Friday , and crossed the borders today back to the U.S ! They took me back to my faviorate office .. "The immigration office" accompained by one nice officer  and told me on the way to the office "We will try to finish you quickly Sir". They asked me when did you become a PR & POE, I said May 29th at JFK... I asked "Is there any wrong?" He replied Nope! But we need to do your registration.

Anyway,, the officers at Buffalo were extrelemy nice and friendly  It took me about 45-60 minutes to finish my papers (including importing a car).

 So, I don't know if I should count another 3 weeks now to expect a welcome letter!!

  3. Guys--I have another question, if y'all could help me out. Like I said, I should have my unrestricted SSN by this week end. However, there's still no sign of a 'Welcome Letter' (USCIS told me to call them back if 30 days since POE had passed) or a GC. I have several job interviews lined up over the next two weeks. Assuming everything goes well and I get hired, when can I start working? What documents will be enough to prove work authorization? Can I start working with the SS card and the stamp in my passport?

Sachinky, you're a legal "permanent resident" you don't need any single extra paper work to prove you're work authorized!

The hospital I will start my work at asked me to go to website called "i-9 express" that checks non-US citizens work eligibility and it is linked some how with USCIS.

If your employer is registered in this website, they will provide you with a code that will let you login and put your info.

Anyway, the website shows that documents required to show work eligibilty is/are:

List A: (Only one of the following is required):

Form I-551 Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card

Foriegn Passport with I-551 Stamp or Printed Notation on Machine-readaible Visa <------ What we all have

OR if documents in List (A) are not available

you are required one item from BOTH List B & C

    List B:

    Driver's License or State ID

    ID issued by federal state

    School ID with Photo

    Voter's registration Card

    Canadian Driver's License ...etc

    List C:

Social Secutiry Account Number with Work Auhtorization

Receipt for lost, stolen, damaged SS card !

So, you may not given re-apply fro SSN if you already have one!

And on the form there's a big warning notifications that says:

ANTI-DISCRIMINATION NOTICE: It is illegal to discriminate against work-authorized individuals. Employers CANNOT specify which document(s) they will accept from an employee. The refusal to hire an individual because the documents have a future expiration date may also constitute illegal discrimination.

    Take Care,

  4. Hello everyone,

I have a car that I’m financing with TDCanadatrust, I still have 3 years in my contract. I’ll be moving to the U.S next month. What would be my options to import my car?

    1.Can I refinance the car with a U.S Bank?

2.Can I drive the car with Canadian plates for few months in the U.S?

    Thank you,

I'm on hold now with NVC! Didn't receive my interview email since yesterday.

Mmmm the operator is saying give it 5-7 business for an email to be generated!! Gee!

I assume everyone received the email same day!

  6. I write this with a heavy heart.

With an interview just a few weeks away. First- I am very happy I have met all of you. Its been a hard road and a long one and yet we all made it. Our motives are many! but the biggest one is love.

This journey has taught me love.

My husband has decided that he cant leave his kids. He doesnt feel we will be able to make it financially and is having some regrets now. Call it cold feet? I do not know. All I do know is that I dont think we will remain married because how can we living so very far apart? I wont make him choose between me and his kids. I cant convince him otherwise.

I love all of you! And wish you all the best. I dont honestly know what I am going to do now. I guess find a way to pick myself up. I can consider this an accomplishment. A sad one.

    God bless you all.

    Alicia,

I'm really sorry to hear this. I can't imagine myself put into this situation, especially after going through all this long stressful journey!

And what made it even more sad is this decision really came at this point, just few weeks before the end of this dramatic journey.

I wish you the best of luck in your life, full of joy and success.

    Regards,

    Mo

  8. Okay... Philippines. Poland. Saudi Arabia. Thailand. No? Then I'm waiting for your good news, Doc, before I call again.

Today the wonderful Kat told me "That's not my department" in addition to the scripted "You can try calling back later this week or Monday" #######. Grrr! Do they not realize that "No, you don't have an interview scheduled yet" is heartbreaking enough as is?! There's no need to add any salt.

 Let's see! Why don't you give them a call today WEDNESDAY! for your own peace of mind!

So, Dominican Republic, Thailand, Albania & Saudi Arabia --> still no interviews!
