Thank you for your response.
He says the petition was approved on 2004, and at that time he was under 21. But his mother was waiting for the embassy, i mean the waiting for their case to be current according the yearly quota of green cards issued.
He still does not have a chance?

Hi,
I am asking this for a friend of mine and I do not know if this is the right forum for this.
His mom's sister is a us citizen and has applied for his mom's to immigrate to USA. Her case has now become current.
The question is whether he is eligible to immigrate with his mom or not. He is currently over 21 years old, but was under 21 at the time of original petition. I could not find the respective law on USCIS web site.
Thanks

Yes, there is more explanation on the paper. They checked the box for administrative processing. That is the entire answer and explanation. What it means is further security checks. It can take from two weeks to several months. It's to be expected from this part of the world. I little preparatory reading would have prepared you to be expecting exactly this.
Of course I was expecting securoty checks, but the odd thing for me which i did not expect was that they our pictures! I also asked the CO if it was the name check and she told no.
I wonder if everybody on a security check gets a 221g refusal notice.

Hi all,
I had my interview for K1 in abu dhabi today. They gave a refusal sheet with 221(g) checked in it. I do not understand what 221(g) means and there is no more explanation on the paper. But on the top of the form is written refusal worksheet.
The item they have checked for me also states that i need to wait for administrative processing. I asked the officer if it was a name check and she answered no.
She also kept pictures of me and my fiancee together.
Would someone please help me? What is the situation now, and what does this 221g mean?

Yes, we are having our interview on May 4th and in the Packet 3 & 4, the fee is 370 dirhams. and You need pay in a Abu Dhabi National Bank. It is equal to $131. So not just any bank, but Abu Dhabi National bank
take a look at exchange rates here (Abu Dhabi National bank)
http://www.nbad.com/exchange/exchangerate.php
370 dirhams is 100$
And 400 dirhams which Cheriine has paid is 108$ !!
-
Visa fee is the same worldwide... $100 was the fee a couple years ago... maybe some documentation has not been updated because it is $131
then should i pay the amount stated in the papers embassy sent me or the correct fee?
-
Hi,
Abu Dhabi embassy asks for 370 Dirham fee for fiance visas as stated in the package they have sent for beneficiary. 370 Dirham is equal to 100$. But I have heard that K1 visa fee is 131$.
Since visa fee should be paid at bank and embassy will ask for the receipt, I want to make sure if this DH 370 is the correct fee. Is it possible for visa fee to be different for different embassies?

Hi everybody,
We will ask a co sponsor fill I-134 for our petition. Will the embassy ask for a copy of his passport/green card/birth certificate?
We need to know if any of these documents is really necessary and then ask him to give us a copy, otherwise we'd rather not bother him.

Hi, Not sure if this the right place for this.
Their website does not allow any scheduling of appointments
since it either says date not available or fully booked for the next several months.
I called the consulate twice and the operator tells me to go to the website, "well madam the website does allow me to make an appointment", her response remained the same.
What else can one do?? Should I call the State Dept in D.C.?
Thanks much
you need to check the website. they make appointments available once every few days. just keep checking the appointment system. i have done it myself and got an appointment earlier this year

hi. i'm currently filling out the DS 156 form. on question #36, it asks "Has Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf?" my dad has been petitioned by his brother (F4 visa category i believe) and that includes my mom and all of us, his children. i do not really know what happened to that petition (if it was discontinued or still current). my question is, what should i answer to question #36? should i answer yes and write my uncle? or no? i really need your help. thanks in advance!
ps. i am very grateful to this site. it is such a huge help to me and my fiance! kudos guys!
i think the answer should be no bacause you were not a beneficiary for any petition. Your father was the beneficiary. So there was no peition filed on your behalf

Hi,
An interesting question came to my mind today. My fiancee had filed an I-129F in my behalf a couple years ago which was approved but for some reasons we did not pursue the path and I did not send the packet 3 back to the embassy. We later asked the case to be closed.
She has recently filed a new petition on my behalf, which is also approved, reached embassy and interview date is set. We have asked a different embassy for the interview this time.
Now i wonder if the embassy i am going to have the interview, has previous file and documents with them or not. Where my previous paperwork is stored now? with USCIS? embassy?

I was just wondering if anyone could give me a little insight?
My fiance is Iranian and has never been to the US. He has lived in Iran and Turkey his whole life. He tells me he "has enough knowledge from reading about the US that there will be no culture shock" when he finally gets here.( i don't think you can every really know unless you've been somewhere) I know its REALLY premature but I want to make sure he feels comfortable and at home when he arrives.( i have OCD about early planning) I have a lot of things in the house from the region from my mother and I travelling to Turkey and from my father who brings home things from over there every time he comes home. But I don't know very much about the Iranian culture. Ive tried looking stuff up online but haven't really found anything significant. I've talked to Mehdi about his life in Iran some but because of his situation it makes him sad to talk about his country and his life there, so I try not to bring it up often. So my question is can anyone give me any insight into the culture and what its like being married to an Iranian man ( I know every person is different so situations will vary). Maybe some "must haves" for him... I love him very much and would just like to understand better where he comes from and to be prepared to try and make his move here as smooth as possible! Thanks so much!!
Maybe you need to practice Iranian cuisine, it might be fun and your fiance will appreciate it!

Hello...My husband has his interview coming up this month and i plan for him to be here by march but we will be living in Hampton VA..what part of Virginia are you located??
My fiancee lives in Virginia. I have my interview scheduled in April.
-
Abudhabi does not send packet 3 and you need to bring all the documentation to the interview. I think this is more convenient.

I have received Packet 4 from embassy in abu dhabi and just wanted to prepare the paperwork.
They are asking me to fill DS-156 and DS-157 forms online with barcodes on them. I checked DoS web page for visa form here http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html but they do not have a DS-157 to fill online. The only available forms online are DS-156 and DS-160.
where can i find this online DS-157 with barcode?

Thanks to everyone for their feedback and experiences.
I am trying to determine if the fee (that is sent in w/inital I-129F) to USCIS, and the visa processing fee assesed at the time of interview are one in the same or different.
Specifically, reading El Salvador's information, it says "at time of interview each immigrant visa applicant must pay a $400 visa processing fee".....is this amount in addition to the amount that is submitted w/inital packet (I-129F) to USCIS?
Additionally, how do you find out what the amount is that one is to submit to USCIS and the inital I-129F packet. (my first step, just starting the process!) In reading the forms on VJ, it just stated "put in correct fee".
Lastly, does anyone know if I am applying for my fiancee and child (18yrs old) does that constitute as (1) applicant or (2) applicants, in relationship to the above mentioned ..."at time of interview each immigrant visa applicant must pay a $400 visa processing fee."
Thanks in advance to everyone. Your trials and tribulations are inspiring !!
eric
visa fee is a another amount of money which should be paid at the time of interview. for everyone who needs a visa, a visa fee should be paid.
application fee has nothing to do with visa fee and is payable to USCIS
you can find the cost for I-129F application here http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...000b92ca60aRCRD which is $455

I got an RFE for a silly mistake that I made on one of the forms....forgot to answer the question about whether I had ever been convicted of a crime. Thankfully it was easy to fix! So now we are hoping that we will get an NOA2 soon. Can anyone give an estimate on the time between the NOA2 and when the actual interview will take place?
Thanks!
Our interview date is more than 4 months after NOA2

My fiance has her Consulate interview appointment coming up in Bogota this January and in looking at the medical exam requirements it lists 16 different vaccinations as required by our lovely government....Is that for real?????? And what's more, the fees for the medical exams, lab work, and then vaccinations appear to be way above the Colombian market price. What a racket, the Embassy gives us only two choices for medical doctors to do the exam and they both conveniently charge the maximum allowed price (much higher than market prices). Smells of kick-backs to me. Sorry for ranting, my main concern is the 16 different vaccinations required. Will they really require all of them??? I'm not a big advocate of excessive vaccinating. Any comments from anyone on this topic????
It depends on age and sex of the applicant. I do not think everybody will need all of the vaccines.

My fiancee and I canceled our 129f feb 09 now refiling. We received an A # with the withdraw letter from uscis. We included it for question 11 on the 129 f asking "if ever filed for this fiancee before if so include A# and result".Does this A # apply for question 8b part a and question 9 part b as well? Also Does this A# apply for the top and bottom corners of the 325 that says file #/ A#?Thanks, hope someone can clarify.
So question 11 on the 129f is refering to our past a # ok so is the question 8b and 9 on the 129f and on the 325 a also refering to the past number or is it there for our new filing number that will be assigned to us?
question 8b part asks about the petitioner not beneficiary. i think you have to fill this only of if the petitioner is not a citizen by birth.
in part b question 9 you will enter your A# which was assigned when you petitioned at first time

... Also, it says that she doesn't need a police certificate. Is this accurate?
Yes, they do not ask for police certificate from iranian nationals. Maybe it is bacause they will not issue you a passport in iran if you have criminal records.

Almost 7 months have passed and there is no update from the embassy. All what they say -through emails we have sent- is "it is undergoing routine administrative processing".
We have asked congressman's office to inquire and the embassy has responded them with the exact same answer.
We are really tired and frustrated. They are supposed to give an answer, it is either yes or no.
We can not wait all our life for the embassy, is there anything else one can do?
