  1. Hello everyone, im new to this site but have browsed it many times when in need of advice during this lengthy process. my husband and i had our aos interview yesterday in manhattan. our appointment was at 9:20 and we finally got called at about 2:00pm. the officer who interviewed us was very professional. she asked very simple questions-do i know my husbands family members names, does he know my family, how did we meet.. it lasted about 10 min. after swearing in. then she asked if we had any mail with both of our names on it and we failed to bring it- but we had 5 yrs of apt leases in the same apt! she said it would be ok if we could rush home and get some mail and bring it back to her. when we left she handed us a paper that she already had prepared that said: your case is being held for review in order to prepare a decision, no additional info is needed....please allow 60 days from today date. we hurried home got the mail and caught her in the hallway before she left and gave it to her. she put it in our file and then we left. im so confused? she told us she had to leave early that day but i dont know if we passed or failed? prior to this everything happened quite smoothly.

    wow congrats

  2. Well.....there were 77 of us, ALL Latin American countries were represented, the majority of the 77 being from the Dominican Republic (figuring that close to Puerto Rico) and there were two from Europe (1 Russian, 1 German) and then there was me!

We waited 1 hour for everyone to finally arrive (latins have bad punctuality arriving on time) even the judge arrived late (go figure) and then 26 minutes later...we were out.

No Video, she just said "Congratulations everyone. Everyone please stand to take the oath, and then we'll give out your certificates".

And so she did that really quick, and when she got to me, a few other ladies that worked for the Department of Homeland Security came over to the judge and they all said to me "Congratulations, your the first Australian ever to naturalize in the state of Puerto Rico" lol (although its not a state but they are really statehood advocates, its still a territory)

Walking outside the courtroom RIGHT NEXT DOOR the trial of the ex-governor Anibal Acevedo Vila was going on in his corruption scandal during elections, tight security indeed....weird, us getting naturalized in one room and teh ex-governor on tirla in the next room...weird.

So that felt good. After that i went with my wife and we flew kites in Old San Juan at El Morro and went back to the other side of the island.

So IM DONE!!!!!..............PROCESS OVER!!!!!!!. THANKS VISAJOURNEY for your help!

    congratulations

  3. Agus was approved today at our AOS interview in Detroit!!!

She was told she'll get her GC in the mail in 7-10 days. The interview was fairly quick and definitely easy. First, we were called in 15 minutes late, which was no big deal. Then an oath and the typical questions (any crimes, any blah blah - basically everything listed on the 485). The interviewer did ask for 2008 tax returns and I'm happy we filed early because I was not over 125% in 2007 but was in 2008...so that made things smooth. The interviewer also wanted clarification on a name issue (which I've posted about a while ago) and to see an updated vaccination record. She had the vaccination and medical information from the embassy but one vaccine was missing from the transcription. Luckily, we planned ahead for this and had a Dr. Arnold transcription just in case. Other questions were related to how we met, what we do, etc. etc. and we didn't even have to show pictures... just joint documentation to prove a common address. It probably took around 15 minutes total. I'll post a Detroit review soon....

Well, I'm rambling on... but we're both EXTREMELY happy for this to be over (for 2 years, at least). We couldn't have done it without Visa Journey. Thanks to all of those who provided support - both emotionally and technically.

One last note... ironically, Agus just received a job opportunity, which in Michigan is a blessing right now. Unfortunately, the adjudicator kept the EAD card and AP forms. Protocol- I know. But if that costs her a job...... . Hopefully the employer is happy with a SS# and the guarantee a permanent resident card is on the way (hopefully within the stated 7-10 days!)

    YAYYY!

congratulations  hope our card in the mail soon.....i did the interveiw in detroit too, but IO told me will received my card in 2 to 3 wks gd luck

  4. I am on K1 visa, my fiance (in the US) and I (here in the Philippines) are almost over waiting for us to get married. I have a question and I am not sure where to post it so i just decided to put it on here. First my fiance is hoping my parents could be in our wedding, his wish was granted. My aunts and uncles all over US will pay for my parents ticket to and from Michigan. My questions are, who would make the "Letter of Invitation" for my parents to get a visa and be in our wedding? Would it be my fiance's parents or my aunts & uncles? What are the requirements for my parents to get a visa and get to the land of the free and home of the brave? OMG! i am so excited... i thought my parents would not be in my wedding. My fiance and I are super ecstatic about this. Ok guys, i have to get going and take a good nights sleep. Thank you in advance to all the people who would help me on this. :)

congratulations  on ur coming wedding ....wish u all the best and by the way where do u live here in michigan?im living here in oakland county near auburn palace ..good luck

  5. Hi, finally yesterday I received my appointment letter for aos interview. I am trying to gather all the documents about evidence of marriage. The problem I have is that we don´t have any mortgage or utility bills together because my husband bought the house years before we got married. The evidences I have are the next:

    - Joint bank account and check book

-Life insurance showing me as beneficiary

    - Health insurance showing me as beneficiary

    -Common membership of a gym

    -Many photos together.

-Plain tickets of travels we have done together.

Is this enough? Has anybody been in my situation and got the aos interview approved? My interview will be in one month aproximately and I wondering If during this time I can do something to get more evidences..I came here on K1 visa and we have been married only for 5 months.

    Thanks for your help!!!!!!! :help:

Dont worry you will be okay..yesterday i have my interveiw that it goes well, you have more evidence that i have ,take the pictures with you and his family member and you will be okay with that

    goodluck

Me and my husband went for our interveiw in Detroit,MI and we arrived 30 mins early before my interveiw. The IO called us, and right away told us to have an oath taking heheeheh..My interveiw went very well and lasted only about 15 or 20 minutes when the IO told us the green card would be approved and would be mailed to me in 2 to 3 weeks.

  7. Hello visa journey people!! I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to those all for helping me answering all the questions I had during the process of my papers. I am happy to tell everyone that I have received my green card today, 11 days from my appearance for the approval of it. I never thought it would be this easy and fast for me to get my green card. Thank you all!!!!!:D

  9. Thanks God he is so good to me. our interview go smooth and the Consul assign to us was nice lady, she approve us without even asking a Co-sponsor, considering that my husband's in come does not meet Poverty income requirements, but the thing is that he is currently & continuously working (I arrange his 2008 pay stubs from Jan to the current date, in separate sheet of paper I did make a breakdown). I guess its a plus factor that my husband is single, no kids plus when the consul ask me whats my job I said I have been through a lot of work before I was once working in an office, become self employed, I also tell that i have a home business. So maybe she think that I can be a potential rather than become a public charge. Lastly, i ask her ''Mam when can I get our visa, She said don't worry everything is fine except to just furnish me with your NBI Clearance in your previous family name (late husband family name i used before) She said once you submit it your visa will fallow. told her '' you know Mam my husband is so lonely waiting for me since we been apart for over 1 yr now, She smile & said Yes I understand your situation but don't worry, smiling at me & my daughter. Alam nu mga guys un pre screener na assign sa booth #25 was so mataray to me. Pero I keep quite nlang. But anyways thanks for everybody wishing me well in my interview.

Good Luck to everybody who are patiently waiting I wish your speedy approval. Your time will come soon.:star::dance:

wow!!!! congratulation for your interveiw at natapos na hehhehee have a nice day to you there  someone is looking for you here this morning

  10. Ummm......not to sound like a "junior" member, but

There are SO many acronyms used here that sometimes I feel like I am reading a foreign language!!

I have looked up many of them in the index of terms here, but so many still elude me! Is there a list of more acronyms anywhere that I can learn from? This site is incredible, I just want to learn as much as I can so I don't miss anything!

Thanks to anyone who can help!

you can go to FAO section and click the definitionand acronyms there are more words and numbers too

  11. I had my interview on Jan 27th in kansas city, MO and was approved...The interview was pretty simple. The lady only verified our addresses, dates of birth, and our social security numbers. Then she asked if we have joint accounts together and we showed her statements for our checking and saving accounts and she put them in my file. Then she closed the file and said we are done and I announce you as a permenant resident from this moment:) be a good resident!.

We were in and out of the building in less than 20 minutes and the interview itself lasted for like 10 minutes!

Good luck everybody... my experince was painless! Thansk God!

    wow congratulations

  12. My wife just got the email below so hopefully we will get the cards next week.

    Receipt Number: MSC**********

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

    Current Status: Card production ordered

On January 30, 2009, we ordered production of your new card.

Also, for those of you who have lost or never received (like us) the NOA2 for the K1, it appears that this didn't cause us any problems. I just included the email approval of the NOA2 and wrote a letter explaining that we never got a hard copy and I included it in the AOS application.

congratulations :dance .... my interveiw is also coming this febraury 17.....ty for update again congrats!!!!!!
