Also, on the application form it asks which visa i am applying for, Non-quota immigrant or Quota immigrant. I am not sure what the difference is. Which one do i choose?

The medical and police clearance cannot be more than 6 months old and I am not sure for the non-quota or quota. I plan on leaving that choice blank and asking at the Washington dc embassy on submitting everything to them there's a few more requirements I left of in my post. Let me know if you will try 13a and I will send to you. The 13a is permanent but getting the balik bayan is good for 1 year.

_{There are requirements that have to me accomplished prior to getting the ACR-I Card. Go to the Wash DC Embassy web site and download the Immigrant Visa application. You need to get a police clearance check from your local police department. You need a Physical Medical exam and a chest X-Ray and a affiadavit from your wife to the Philippine Embassy requesting approval for you to be granted a 13a visa and that you both are moving to the Philippines to reside. You need to submit this all to the Wash DC Embassy in person along with 4 pasport size pictures and your USA passport. You also have the option of waiting to get to the Philippinesd and then applying for the 13a. Applying in the Phils you get a 1 year temporary 13a and have to apply in 1 year to get tjhe permanent 13a. Applyimng in the USA you get the permanent 13a but have to wait to subm,it the medical and then get the ACR-I card after entering the Phils. Upon entry to the Philippines you have 7 days to go to the Bureau of Quartine and get your medical stuff checked and approved by them. After that you need to go to the Bureau Of Immigration Office and apply for the 13a and give them the approval from the medical. Do this in Manila.}

The general rule is that whatever passport you enter on, you leave on. If they are staying more than 21 days, I'd have them enter Ph on their Philippiens passports, and then leave on those passports. As other have noted, they must use their US passports to leave and enter the US

My advice is to depart and enter the USA on their USA passport and enter and depart the Philippines on their Philippine passport. That is what My wife and son do. he is a dual citizenand so is my wife.

Hello My wife had her Citizenship Ceremony yesterday 14 May 2013. She had the interview 7 May 2013.

Sorry this syatem has not let me update my timeline. Seems as if someone changed the software settings and asked me for a password now to update my timeline. Why an extra step is beyond me but I can not update timeline. Good luck to all that have not had their interview or ceremony yert and to all those still in the process. It was a very long journey to get to this point and I am so Proud of my wife. She stuck with every step and spent hours studying for the N400 interview. It has been 4 years and 3 months since my wife arrived in the USA on a K-1 Visa.

She got her USA passport application submitted today and as soon as we receive it we will be going to the Philippine Embassy in Wash Dc for her to take the Dual Citizenship OATH to retain her Philippine Citizenship. Then on the the social security office to update her status there.

I agree 100% and my wife is in the process of getting her Dual Citizenship and we plan on moving to the Phils and we have already paid for land there to build our home. Lets face it.... we are all going through this very long and expensive process and our government turns its back on the illegal people here!!!!. Why do we have to pay and get Biometrics at every step of the way? We use the same government agency and everything is stored in their data base....why???? so they can rape us of more money! We are getting OUT OF Dodge! As soon as we are in the position to do so. When she gets her Dual Citizenship and reaquire of her Philippine citizenship, which I hope will be completed by the end of this year, we will be ready to start the process of moving.

Our main concern is that we want the kids to grow up in a free country. The U.S. is government is following a path to permanent militarism abroad and police state at home. There are some appalling surveys showing less than half of Americans can name the three branches of government now. A smaller proportion knows anything about the bill of rights. The only thing that keeps a government from becoming tyrannical is the people, and ours are blinded by the myth of American Exceptionalism.

It is a very easy process for an Americano to obtain permanent residency in the Philippines based on marriage to a citizen. It is the very kind of proof you need to see how bad the U.S. has become. Because it puts their own citizens and their spouses through this ghastly process when there are tens of millions of illegal immigrants who are not kept out by these immigration laws.

So mine will keep dual citizenship and we'll eventually move over there.

How do you request same day oath and when do you make this request? We are planning a trip back to the Philippines in October/November time frame and we plan on staying 2 to 3 months. My interview, based upon the USCIS website estimated processing time, is 5 months from their receipt of the N400 package. They received it February 14 so 5 months is July 14. I wonder if the oath would be before September. I would just like to have same day Oath if possible. We also do not want to have to wait to book flights at the last minute and pay higher airfares.

We just received the NOA 1 Letter today 25 February I-797C. Now awaiting the Bio appointment letter. We mailed the N400 package on 13 February 2013 and USCIS Lewisville Texas Lockbox received it on 14 February 2013. We mailed it Overnight Express from the USPS.

Now in the waiting mode again but not like when waiting for the K-1 I-129 Petition Approval!

Does anyone know how you request to take the oath the same day as the interview? Can the request be made in advance or do you have to ask before the interview? We have plans on going back to visit the Philippines in September or October and we plan on staying 2 to 3 months. We do not want to risk being in the Philippines when a letter arrives informing me of my Oath date and time and miss it. :unsure:

I also suggest if you have any children to report their birth to the Philippines Embassy also and get your child a Philippine Passport and a USA passport.

If you have any further questions or need help, we went through all of this already. The Philippine Embassy for our area is the one in Washington DC. You have to use the embassy that is designated for the state that you live in. Go to their web site and follow instructions and download all necessary required forms.

Hi, I am a K-1 visa holder and my flight is in March. We are getting married in April.

1. Does taking my husband's surname/hyphenating come automatically with marriage or do I need to file for a name change?

2. Do we file for AOS under my married or maiden name?

3. Is it advisable to wait until we get married before filing for SSN so I can do it in my married name, or do I file for it ASAP under my maiden name?

We just dropped off our package today at the post office. Sent it Express mail and will be there by noon tomorrow. I hope she will have her citizenship by the end of September. :unsure:

How are you all studying the 100 civics questions? After reading them from top to bottom a few times I got bored... As a result, I created this simple (pure html) quiz tool that I am now using:

I am not into que cards but I think that is a great way to study things like this. I might try it one day too.
